Ashley xD got a reaction from DrMacintosh in Jesus, you can get an XPS 15 with a 1650, 6C/12T 9750H, 8GB 2666, and 256GB for $1,44
@DrMacintosh i constantly hear apple fans make the argument of well it won't stop working so it's fine, no it isn't fine. by doing this perfectly good hardware ends up in landfill which is bad for the environment and bad for the consumer because they need to buy a new computer purely because of apple's unsupporting.

the Big Sur drop has nothing to do with Metal. they dropped all 2012 Mac's and some 2013 models, all of those are capable of running Metal and were supported under Mojave and Catalina.

Ashley xD got a reaction from Origami Cactus in i LOVE the new start menu changes in the latest Insider build. that looks SO GOOD! C
@Origami Cactus it's 1909, and i'm not aware of known issues at the time. maybe with drivers but like, they didn't update affected devices. i know 2004 has issues with Storage Spaces (barnacules talked about that on Tech Talk) but like who uses that as a general consumer... also they are not updating affected devices. what more can you ask of them to do? not update any devices until all possible issues are sorted?

also please remember that even the data deletion thing was a VERY small number of users. as i said i ran insider for 1809 and it was fine for me. like, as always with these things it's an insanely small minority but the media clickbaits the hell out of it.

@Origami Cactus you mean the 1809 days? i ran the insider builds for it and i didn't notice. so there's that.

also they listen really well. i can't speak for insider Windows but i talk daily with the community manager for Edge on the Microsoft Community discord, and i've reported some bugs to her personally and lemme tell you they listen to the insiders.

now yes, that's an entirely different team working on a seperate project, but still. you can't generalize microsoft as one giant corporation. there are many teams there and yes, some are easier to reach than others, but still, in general i feel like they listen.

Ashley xD got a reaction from DrMacintosh in What would be neat is if the new 13" MacBook Pros would use the massive thermal headr
@CircleTech at least be reasonable with your apple bashing. iphones are legendary for not throttling, ipad's too. if they put those cpu's in a chassis that's a lot bigger i really doubt it would throttle.

@RorzNZ of course it can. it's just a cpu architecture. it has pci-e support afaik, and there is also this: https://nvidianews.nvidia.com/news/nvidia-brings-cuda-to-arm-enabling-new-path-to-exascale-supercomputing

Ashley xD got a reaction from TopHatProductions115 in are we just not gonna talka bout apple now having dropped support for basically all 2
@VegetableStu history will repeat itself. if you bought a powermac G5 Quadcore, apple's most expensive desktop in 2005, you got support until 2009. 4 years. that's it. because it came out right before the switch to intel.

they will do the same thing now. if you buy an Intel Mac now, you get a max of 4 to 5 years on that.

@handymanshandle yeah, i really like it. the picture is great and i have a pro-logic surround amp and this works well with it.

the other VCR i have is a lot older, it's a Panasonic NV-SD240 and it still works well, but i'm gonna take it apart tommorow because i might ahve to relubricate some parts. it really struggles to get into high speed rewind and when the brake engages it makes an absolutely awful noise.

i'm keeping both of them on the setup as the panasonic does do some things better, namely rewind when i fix the mechanism, it's a lot faster.
