Nah the thing is it worked fine for a very long time. Then I reinstalled Windows 11 or upgraded or whatever the hell it was (can't remember) and it turned to shit. If this doesn't fix it I will get a recovery image from Razer and see if that does it. Forza should run smooth.

stupid question but have you reinstalled the gpu drivers? that might fix it

  2. it probably will work fine, but i'd advise against it. i've used a cheap board like that on a 7th gen i5 and that board died after like a year.

wether a board will work is not the only thing to consider. higher end boards in my experience last longer. i'm currently running a 4670K in a Z-series board from the era, still totally fine. that's a 10 year old setup at this point.

for your usecase i'd advise spending a little bit more and getting the next tier up in the intel chipset range, whatever they call it now. super cheap stuff is just... you get what you pay for lol.

Nah, this is a good opportunity to troubleshoot the performance issues I have in Forza. Random microstutters and low FPS, even at relatively low settings. I don't care about the OS, I just need to find out why the hell this is happening and this could help me with that in case Windows is being silly, which it normally is.

that could just be clock speed. racing games really like high clocked cpu's, you can only get so much out of a mobile chip in a thin laptop before it overheats...

And when comes to the pc 7th gen is not old or the system you should have to throw out there is still people buyying 4th gen systems and most of them use clean windows and the systems that need a helping hand (Linux) is systems with core 2 duo or old AMDFx cpus with 2/4Gb of ram.

fun fact, Windows 11 runs smoothly on my (overclock but still) 4670K. i've seen Core 2 Duo machiens running windows 10 relatively fine too, as long as they have more than 4GB of ram.

I made my own slim image of Windows without borking updates:

    debloats Windows, installs Origin.

    bruh

Yup. My Razer Blade got extremely hot while doing nothing. I still need to figure out the best way to control the fans, as they were als constantly going at max speed. Also no brightness control on Atlas. Yay! ...

or maybe just run normal Windows? lmfao

Just noticed that Atlas adds its own power plan, which sets the minimum processor state to 100% when plugged in.

This is a terrible idea for any multi-core CPU, as lower performance cores are not able to lower their frequency and therefor higher performance cores are not able to boost to their full potential.

not to mention laptops. you'll be running at 80c all the time like that...

Just because you have TPM doesn't mean you will be able to install Win11.  You have to check your processor against the Win11 compatibility list.  I don't know what the cutoff is for AMD, but it won't install on intel unless you have an 8th gen or newer.

that's very easy to bypass. i'm running Windows 11 rn on a 4670K

?? Why would you pay $18 to upgrade the ram? Would that even give any real performance gain? That seemed like such a weird thing to do considering the topic of the video being that old hardware is perfectly fine and cheap.

it would to get dual channel, or if you're using integrated graphics. but yeah considering the point of the video 12GB ram is plenty, even for regular bloated windows 10...

    I feel bad now running a I7 6700K with a 2080 super 32GB of Ram ssd os sata 6
but I don't really notice it being sluggish, or have I just gotten used to it lol

that's a perfectly fine computer still. don't believe everything LTT says. as long as it does what you need it to do it's fine.

I will be using the same CPU at the LTX LAN paired with an rx470 running Linux 😄. It was my own scrapyard PC that I did in 2019, went ITX and still kept it under $200.

4670K is awesome. mine is paired with a GTX 1060. i can't run Linux on this computer (i have a dedicated Linux computer, an old Mac Pro 2008 8-core lmao) because my favourite game (Overwatch) doesn't like Linux much. to compensate for the windows bloat i overclocked the cpu to 4.3ghz all core, still runs like a beast even on Windows.

This is getting silly at this point...

Nor do I see a thread about it. I'm never the first to notice, so... Could it be something local? The nearest google datacenter having a stroke? (Surely not threads getting removed.)

i'm in the netherlands, down for me too.

  12. so basically, if i wanna watch a movie i plug my laptop into my TV. but when i do that, any video i play back in Chrome is very stuttery until i close chrome and relaunch it.

    my laptop's specs:

    7700HQ

    16GB Ram

    GTX 1060

    1080p 120hz screen

my TV is an ancient Philips dumb tv, 1080p 60hz.

when i plug the TV in the laptop is configured to disable the internal screen, because i control the laptop from my couch using a phone app.

is this issue a Chrome bug, Windows issue, etc? what can i do to fix it? it's very annoying having to re-open Chrome all the time.

  13. as the title says, i have a WH-1000X M3 headset, that i've had for i think 4 years, maybe closer to 5 years. it's served me incredibly well so far and i have no issues with it, other than the battery life not being what it used to be.

it lasts about 2 days with my use now, and it'll give a low battery warning on the evening of the second day. when it was new, this was a week.

are there any resources on opening these up and replacing batteries? it it possible at all?

i'm comfortable soldering if i have to, i'm willing to deal with some inconvenience if it means i can fix this very expensive headset.
