what about BIOS?

the alt key not working is a result of your aftermarket graphics card. you can still use it, just without a display output. what i mean is if you hold down alt, press an arrow key to select the other drive and then enter it'll work.

what the hell? can you try a few more cpu thermal monitoring apps (CoreTemp for example) just to rule out a misreporting? also what does the motherboard BIOS think?

when you sleep the machine turn the displays off, then before you wake it turn the displays on. that should mean that the displays are no longer in a sleep state and the system will instantly detect both again when it wakes up.

take out one of the ram sticks, some systems dislike odd numbers of installed ram.

how so? after hours of messing with it perhaps. by the way, Windows is customizable too. here's my Windows 11, Windows 7 taskbar and start menu and all. aside from gaming, professional tools like Adobe, business tools like Microsoft 365, etc. Atlas is stupid and not better than normal Windows either. i'm running Windows 11 on a 4670K system, which is about 4 years older than the system LTT showcased here, and it's running very well. you don't need a modified Windows to get acceptable performance. all it takes is some common sense. disabling background apps for example, which is just a toggle in Windows Settings.

you're a tech enthousiast. you're living in your bubble. most people who aren't into tech don't know the dangers of for example spam email. it takes 1 spam email that someone who isn't tech-literate opens to get an infected computer. then, on the same network, if some idiot is running Atlas, a version of Windows thats potentially a year or more out of date, the virus could easily spread over the network and infect that computer. etc etc etc.

just use Rufus and enable the bypass to force the install, Windows 11 is stupid and just doesn't wanna work sometimes.

that's jsut browsers being browsers. i have that on Linux too, changing the OS won't help. enable Chrome's memory saver that sleeps inactive tabs, that helps.

woah woah woah, it might not be a cpu bottleneck anymore. now that you've found what was hogging the cpu up so much, take another look at task manager. if the gpu is at 90+% now the cpu is no longer bottlenecking it

it's insanely stupid. i can't believe LTT would promote this. your system is plenty fast to run regular Windows. you're asking for trouble with Atlas for sure.

as expected. the game is using half of the cores as i predicted. the cpu is the bottleneck here, as you can see by the gpu being below 50%...

bruh i'm running a 4670K, that's a 10 year old cpu. still totally fine. can you go to task manager, performance, on the cpu tab right click the graph and select logical processors like this: this shows the usage of the individual cores. can you screenshot that with the game running?

in that case it would just turn off. why are you throwing money at a software issue? there's ways you can try to fix this in software. for a start, when gaming, what is your gpu usage?

@kapac7adon't listen to this. as i explained a 6-core 12-thread cpu will almost never see 100% or even close to that usage while running a game, because most games simply arent coded to use 12 threads. the reason for that is if they code it for 12 threads, it'll harm performance on cpu's with less than that. game developers want the most amount of people to play their games and 4-core cpu's are still very common. that's misreporting. if you look at the cpu's power and temperature readings you can see it's obviously doing a lot of work. the program just isn't reporting it for some reason. but it wouldn't idle at 80c...

your cpu has 12 threads, that would be why. most games can use 4 threads, some 8. but 12 is uncommon. hence, the cpu is only being used for around 30% since it's using a third of those threads. the advantage of this is that you can say watch a youtube video on your second monitor or have OBS running without impacting the game's performance, since you have cores to spare. the disadvantage is that very few applications can use all 12 threads at once. as for the difference between the R9 380 vs the new card and it being lower i don't know the cause of that.

you can do either one without bottlenecks then. it just depends on what games you play. google how much fps each card gets in those games and then decide if the extra fps of the 1080 is worth it to you

i've tried it before and corrupted my windows install, so there's that. UEFI doesn't offer much difference, you get Secure Boot which like, you don't really need, and it boots a bit faster, maybe 5 seconds. honestly just stick to CSM.

it's "better" sure but CSM will work, and switching it over is a major pain in the ass. i wouldn't bother.
