Most excited about the Panasonic one. The bigger ones with crazy resolutions and refresh rates are great but I just want something that doesn't kill me with heat and is light on my head. Honestly my biggest complaints with my Explorer

2011 Macbook Pro w/ SSD slow performance
Froody129 replied to spadz93's topic in Linux, macOS and Everything Not-Windows
Odd, could be that you're spouting random things. -- Try Crystal Disk Mark (or similar) and run a test on your SSD. They do have a limited life span and it might just be done -

Return of the Zen - 12nm Ryzen 5 1600 (AF) found in new batches
Froody129 replied to williamcll's topic in Tech News
That is a lot of CPU for the money. Though it is budget today, just a couple years ago Intel charged big bucks for the same performance. -
This is from an analyst. I don't understand what you're trying to say

How do you clean peripherals? (mouse and keyboard)

The Samsung A-series is pretty cool. Though it might only be the A80 that has no notch. i know you said Android, but I’d look into buying an iPhone. The longevity is crazy and parts and cases are everywhere. My 6s+ is super fast still, and I wouldn't be upset if this was a new budget phone. It also gets around any update problems. I'd look into something like the 8 Plus for great battery life and a very speedy experience

Peltier cooling is mayyyybe 50% efficient. Within the small power budget there's no way this is realistic for any CPU that actually requires proper cooling

Is redragon k552-rgb good budget mechanical keyboard?
Froody129 replied to Bayron's topic in Peripherals
It's a great keyboard, especially for the price. Excellent build quality. I had the non-RGB model -
Even my 980ti is still pushing solid frames at 1440p. I have a 144hz monitor so sometimes I wish I had some more GPU horsepower but my 4770 wouldn't be able to keep up anyway. I'd stick with the 1080ti and wait for something reasonably priced. We shouldn't be too far from new cards anyway and it would suck having the "old" card so soon after paying full price for it

Don’t know if it’s been answered earlier but it should be. The formula has (radius)^2 on the bottom. So a doubling in distance should result in a quarter of the radiation. The same is true for gravitation and static electric charge

New socket AGAIN? That’s rubbish. AMD is winning consumer hearts by doing things which the customer wants. Blatant anti-consumer crap like this will get you nowhere. That said, the low power mode looks interesting

What are y'all upgrading this holiday season?
Froody129 replied to dizmo's topic in General Discussion
My area had disappointing black Friday deals and I can't really complain about my setup. If I upgrade anything I'd need to upgrade a whole lot of stuff with it (4770 and 980ti, so upgrading either one would be expensive and be held back by the other anyway). So I'm guessing just a power bank or three to deal with loadshedding -
Ryzen 4000 and X670 scheduled for late 2020
Froody129 replied to Flying Sausages's topic in Tech News
You're going to be waiting a long time for minimum 80 times the performance of current CPUs... Nevermind at a third of the cost. -
That's kind of sad... Even with new phones having been released it's not like this is an old phone. My 6s+ is still rocking the newest software and likely will be still be supported with security updates for a long while after feature updates stop supporting it. It's a shame, since I really want to jump ship from Apple, but I just don't want to have to change phone every 2 years. How realistic is just installing one of the third-party flavours for extended support?

I'm using my locked 4770 with an OC 980ti at 1440p and I find they pair excellently. I reckon a 1080 would do fine, especially at higher resolutions. My only issue at this point is that upgrading either the CPU or the GPU would create a disparity in performance tiers between the two components, meaning that I've kind of maxed out my current PC configuration.

Personally I think a flat bit, even a small one, on the top of the roof would improve it. At first I hated it, but the concept is growing on me. This is something built entirely to be practical and efficient at what it needs to do. It’s not the typical American pickup that’s built to compensate for insecurity, it’s something built to do things. That said, I don’t know if the range is big enough. Any real pickup work dramatically impacts range, and if those numbers are ideal then the real-world numbers will be disappointing

Try different video cable I meant. Power cable isn’t too likely to be a problem, but I suppose it’s better to eliminate all possibilities

Try a different cable. Try motherboard video output (if you have)

mechanical Suggestions for my first Mechanical Keyboard
Froody129 replied to HYP3R69's topic in Peripherals
The K70 is very much overhyped. Poor build (especially the wrist rest), non-standard bottom row, an obnoxiosly loud spacebar and at a fair amount higher in price than similar boards. Source: K70 owner I will restate my earlier point. It's some switches on a PCB. It's not a miracle and failure is unlikely. Don't fall for gaming company hype. You can get super cheap boards with better than Cherry switches and proper keycaps that will last a long time. Sharing some options might make recommendations easier, since keyboard availability doesn't seem to be universal
