    LTT says it's worth paying the extra $10 EVGA "Tax". If I buy the GTX 1070 suggested, would I really be getting a better value than, say, the Gigabyte 1070 Windforce for 20 bucks less?

      Depends is it one of the ones with vrm issues, if so no as that would just be potential a hassle

      EVGA is going to preinstall them in cards made after last month. When they'll get to retailers is another question.

       

      But besides, I think taking apart and doing things to a video card can be an interesting experience for PC builders. I've installed aftermarket heat sinks on mine before before they started coming with them.
