Found his thread and checked ASUS website, it was indeed BIOS. I'm so used to these download pages be dead for years, that I didn't expect to find SEVERAL new bios version already since the last week I built a PC, the team must be on fire with this new board. The stupid Armoury Crate still offers an older BIOS for download, I trusted it in the first place, isn't its only job is to monitor things like that like a hawk.

My favorite quote of the day:

"These are the memory to get guys, DDR4 top end bins and final revision to DDR4 DRAM kits. DDR5 will be a mess for 5 years without question, so anyone wanting to build a PC and last it long these are to get or the top end Samsung B-Die kits at 4000Mhz low latency bins from Trident Z / Neo."

Once upon a time i'd upgrade as soon as new GPU's or CPU's hit the market but these days i don't care, i plan to cling to my current PC until it can no longer run AAA titles at reasonable FPS.

It's an outright fraudulent launch.  You cannot consider 106 of 4000 units (2.65%) fulfillment rate an "issue".  They outright lied about this and catfished the hype.

My mom-in-law, love her but let's just say she's not the most electronic savvy person. Here's a few:

    #1
Her: My cell phone says 100% fully charged, but when I unplug it, doesn't respond, screen is blank.

Me: Did you press the Power button?

Her: It's turning on, I forgot I turned it off, thank you.

    #2
Her: The laptop is low battery. Do we buy a new battery?

Me: No need, just plug it in to charge.

Her: The adapter is plugged in the wall outlet, but it's not charging.

Me: Is it connected to back of the laptop?

Her: It wasn't, but is now. Thank you.

    #3
Issue: Cable box remote was out of sync with TV (after she pressed several wrong buttons).

Her: I turn on TV and cable box turns off. I press Power again on remote and now cable box is on, but TV turns off.

Me: Okay, put remote control down, walk over to the TV, and manually turn it on.

Her: Where is the Power button?

Me: Right side of TV, towards the bottom corner.

    Her: Okay it's on.

Me: Now, try Power button on remote control, should turn both off same time.

Her: They both work now, thank you.

There's other instances like right-click instead of left-click on the mouse and wonders why "a little window box" keeps showing up. Or somehow gets lost using Facebook on the laptop (instead of on her phone), opens up a new tab by mistake and wonders why Google search page appears, doesn't know how to get back to FB page. Calls me up and I explain that Facebook isn't deleted or broken, just click upper left corner tab with blue FB icon.

Haha...we're definitely lucky that we know what we're doing when it comes to A/V equipment and computers.

My mother keeps everything on the desktop. When i upgraded her machine yonks ago, i moved her from Windows ME to 7 with a new build. She made me put everything from the old desktop on the new desktop in a folder called "old desktop". Not long ago i upgraded her machine again. There is now a folder on the desktop called "old desktop" that contains a folder called "old desktop". I got curious recently. The highest tier had a last modified that matched the day i did the upgrade. The lower tier was around the time she moved to windows 7. She's never opened either folder again. I've nearly convinced her that she should move to windows 10 and expect to be making a new "old desktop" folder soon.
EDIT: I almost forgot that on the initial computer when she finally ran out of space for new icons she bought an external hard drive because she thought that meant the hard drive was full.

There was a time she thought the sound was broken and when i came round it was a driver issue. I dont remember the exact conversation but i do remember only realising days later that must have been why she left the room, came back and put her drivers license on the desk next to me. At the time i thought she must have been prepping to do something that required id when i had finished. I imagine she still thinks her drivers license fixed the sound issue.

She constantly complains about voices on the tv being too soft, but wont raise the volume because "no, its loud enough".

She's convinced her 2008 bravia had hdr and i must have broke it when i connected the wii for the first time. She's also convinced her 2016 LG had hdr (her model doesn't have hdr) until i plugged in the PS4.

My dad thought the whole internet was owned by bill gates and was stored in a big industrial structure called "Silicon Valley".

And the one that really gets me down, people who think they're tech savvy because they can (barely) use an iPad, but still think Wi-Fi and internet are the same thing...

when someone is asking you if now is a good time to buy a new PC or laptop, and you tell them to wait for a month because Zen 3 processors are coming soon, and they proceed to tell you "yeah but there's always something new coming out soon that's better than what's available now."

I mean... they're correct in the long-term, but getting non-techies to understand product cycles often backfires as there's no way to explain it without sounding like you have an agenda of some kind, or that you've got a few screws loose.
