brenan999 got a reaction from Spanish Avenger in (Build Log) The Silent One
So being in the middle of a move and modding a PC is always fun. Finding time, space, tools is an interesting balancing act. But I feel I've made a bit of headway. Motherboard, Graphics Card and Monoblock have arrived. So naturally I have taken out the old hardware out now and the only thing left before the 1050ti can go in is the waterblock.
Removed those pesky tabs on the inside preventing the 200mm fan from fitting and verified fitment.
That also shows that the wiring can be wired pretty easily something I was a bit nervous about due to how little space I have in the front corner.
Also started sleeving cables. I will be sleeving all but the 3.0 and PSU cables. Cablemod is shipping me a set of custom cables in the white/silver combo. This is mostly because I've done PSU before and they take forever! That and I can't get them to look as smooth as they can. The 3.0 will be unsleeved all together mostly because it doesn't look bad. Ordered a Barrow's Temp sensor that will get sleeved as well when it arrives. But initial results are looking good.
I'm still not 100% sure how to mount the fan controller but this guy on overclock did it, so I think I can too.
Also will not be using the 1TB WD Red drive. Going to be leaving that out in favour of just using my Unraid server. This is mostly to clean up space in the bottom of the unit and help with not having a giant pain in the rear when connecting the cables.
Also when mocking everything up discovered I'm going to have to chop a portion out of the F3 fan.
That area would normally interfere with the 8pin EPS cable.
Assembled the pump and res as well as being the first water cooled build I've done which will have a proper drain. While the drain may look ugly it is hidden under the radiator and is very easily accessible.
Other notes; before it gets hardline I will also pick up a RAM water cooling block, and I will be modding the top of the case to have full Plexi view port. Still trying to find decent LED's to help illuminate the case as well.
See you in the next update.

That's why you have to work with due diligence. Or else you'll be bending pins like @LinusTech.

brenan999 reacted to JoostinOnline in Dear 'Ol Linus' (I know I'm not the first)
People who call the videos click-bait have never seen real click-bait. Something that piques your interest is not click-bait. A fancy thumbnail is not click-bait.

brenan999 reacted to Cyracus in Dear 'Ol Linus' (I know I'm not the first)
They've addressed the topic of their titles and thumbnails several times now, if youtube gives goofy names and thumbnails special preference LTT will use that system however they feel they need to

Thank god... I'm so sick of "Adobe flash is vulnerable and needs to be updated" messages.

brenan999 reacted to Groundedbeef in Watercooled Silverstone FT02 Nvidia theme build
I Finished the edges inside and made the pumpmount permanent.
Used a scrap chunk to line up the pump bracket with the hole
Perfect fit id say without touching the edges of the hole, we dont want vibrations from the pump.
Next up is the top plate, i am thinking it should be magnetic.
Hopefully i can send it to powder coating this week, i also need to order the tempered glass windows.
Also, here is a sketch of what i am planing to do with the front GPU Block (the one most visible)
I am not sure about the final form this is just the concept

Would be lovely to see measurements in videos also in metric system.
Not speaking it out loud, small labels should be enough.

brenan999 reacted to jeffery7466 in AMD '#Rekt son' reply to Intel's "four glued together" statement
They were totally dishonest by claiming that AMD had no ecosystem. So to me it doesn't matter whether they were cramming or not.

brenan999 reacted to Lays in Asus responds to Der8auer's X299 VRM problem
How is Asus cheaping out on VRM heatsinks Intel's fault? Asus has been designing motherboards for ages now, they should know how to make a proper heatsink. You can't believe that Intel and vendors DON'T go back and forth for months before launch, lol.

brenan999 reacted to leadeater in Asus responds to Der8auer's X299 VRM problem
Sometimes you don't have to be in the wrong to have to issue a statement or address an issue, if someone has a big enough platform/shouts loud enough or if enough people complain you have to do something to protect company image.

brenan999 reacted to Cookybiscuit in Intel 12-core i9-7920X features a 2.9GHz base clock.
Seems like a good idea to simply downclock the CPU's instead of not use toothpaste between the IHS and die, good thinking by Intel.

brenan999 reacted to tom_w141 in Intel 12-core i9-7920X features a 2.9GHz base clock.
Considering these are basically Xeons and the Xeon has a base/boost of 3/3.7 I'm going with 2.9/3.6-3.7. I edited the post you quoted.

Is this Linus' idea for the entire editing den working off a single box?
