JupiteL reacted to BlueChinchillaEatingDorito in Razer made a light up (non rgb) prepaid credit card
I'm sure these customers are going to make a ton of Razer purchases based on how shoddy the long term quality of their products are.
There, your mandated joke about Razer quality and reliability whenever there's a news topic about them.

JupiteL reacted to Trik'Stari in Samsung reportedly won’t include chargers with some phones starting next year
And then in 2022 they will randomly change the charger port for some minor upgrade, and still not include a charger.
The correct charger will cost a premium.
Bet.

JupiteL got a reaction from SteamBakedPotato in Experiences with non-techies
My friend want me to build his gaming pc.. So one day we go to the store and the guy told me the shipment is screwed, but he still want the computer just right now. We ended up buying the wrong motherboard, because his mini itx one is out of stock. We degrade the gpu from 7950 to 7850 because the they're also out of stock. And his Bitfenix prodigy is not even available there, so we need to wait until the stock came.
In the end, we don't build the rig until we have the casing and the motherboard to be stocked, he doesn't want any other thing other than that, so there you go buddy.. Enjoy your rig..

I think parents should know if their kids are into PC building they'd have no money left for drugs.

JupiteL got a reaction from TechyBen in Steam Users Have the Right to Resell Their Digital Games Rules French Court
At best we'd have Steam market for used games and the price would be adjusted to region pricing. Honestly, living in a country where if the price is the same as in the US, I'd have less than half games in my library.

JupiteL reacted to Jurrunio in Nvidia trying to trademark..... numbers?
AMD following Nvidia's naming scheme is even worse, I'd rather they follow their current one and use 600 series even if Nvidia didnt do this

I might finally stray from my Steam puritanism, this looks as ambitious than other projects like Raptr or the belated Xfire, but from a way more credible developer.

JupiteL got a reaction from Tech_Dreamer in YouTube Is Changing the Way It Displays Subscriber Counts
When I care about a channel I would keep track of the sub number, but I guess I can't anymore because of a thing. Imagine what will happen to youtube in 10 year if we get a feature removed after ONE channel has a backlash.

JupiteL reacted to Scheer in Spotify screws over Premium Users and lets Free users use Spotify Connect
I guess I just see things a little differently, I don't quite understand how you can be mad that features you like are now free? If its no longer worth it to you to pay for premium, then don't pay for premium...
Paid tiers don't have to be value adds, the new thing to do (and I'm a huge fan of it) is for the paid tier to simply be the "fast ring", and eventually it trickles down to free and the paid tier gets something else new to themselves. Plex does a great job at this.
Also, from a quick search, the 20% are using more bandwidth as they have a higher bitrate (costs Spotify more money) and don't have to listen to ads (Spotify makes less money), so there is some of the skew in your numbers and I'm sure there is more.

JupiteL reacted to CTR640 in Nvidia's GeForce RTX 2070 launches on October 17.
The FE will be $599 and the third-party will be starting from $499? Lol, sounds like the 2070 will be $749 or higher.
Console gamers are laughing at us.

JupiteL reacted to Fasterthannothing in Nvidia's GeForce RTX 2070 launches on October 17.
This has to be a joke right we all know the $500 price is like a unicorn at this point look at the prices of the 2080 and 2080 ti all above the founders edition price. Also I can find all kinds of 1080's for under $500 and 1080 TI's for only $30 more than the founders edition price what a joke of a launch by Nvidia!

JupiteL reacted to lvh1 in Nvidia's GeForce RTX 2070 launches on October 17.
I doubt that you'll be able to find any cards at 500$ just like you can't find any 2080/2080ti's at msrp at the moment.
On top of that the price itself is too much too, a gtx 970 was 'only' 329$, 1070 was 379$ and now we're at 500$ for a 2070 just 2 years later. Can't image what the next series will cost if it keeps continuing like this.

JupiteL reacted to Murasaki in Now even YouTube isn't safe from cryptocurrency miners
Don't you just love when websites resort to mining cryptocurrency using your own CPU cycles? Then you will be pleased to know that they're on YouTube aswell.
https://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2018/01/now-even-youtube-serves-ads-with-cpu-draining-cryptocurrency-miners/
And we thought obtrusive and annoying ads were something to complain about. This new "method" is becoming widespread across many websites and most aren't even aware of these scripts sucking off their processors in the background.
Computers are one thing but on mobile devices it drains your battery extremely quick. Equip your hardware with adblockers and phones with 5000mAh+ batteries, the future is gonna be exausting.

JupiteL reacted to Commodus in Logitech Craft
I'd see how the keycaps work in practice before ragging on them.
Also, I know this forum skews heavily toward mechanical keyboards because of gaming, but going with scissor switches doesn't make a keyboard low-quality. Some people (including myself) prefer scissor switches because they like that feel, or don't want their keyboard making an awful racket while they're typing.

JupiteL reacted to Fire Yoshi in Finally Someone Decided To Do Something About Miners
The problem with making more cards, especially for AMD, is that if Ethereum crashes, there is going to be a lot of surplus that won't sell, and they will lose money. This is exactly what happened in the last mining boom, where R9 290s and 290Xs were going for ridiculously low prices after miners abandoned GPUs for mining Bitcoin in favor of ASICs. To give you an idea, before my Fury X I had an R9 290 that I got brand new for the equivalent of 220 USD (R9 290 MSRP at launch was $399). Having large amounts of stock that doesn't sell hurts AMD/Nvidia, board partners and retailers.

JupiteL reacted to Frankenburger in Is vega a failure?
If you take it as a glass half full approach, sure. But more power consumption also translates into higher thermals and higher ambient temperatures. People who want things to stay cool and quiet while being comfortable in their own room won't be going for the higher TDP equivalent of a lower TDP card that puts out as many frames.
