  1. What headroom are you referring to exactly? I believe its powered via motherboard's USB header? That's like few watts at best.
  2. Everyone will have their own "favourites" Personally I like Asus boards because of their friendly Bios where I feel comfortable. Something like Asus Prime Z690-P or ROG Strix Z690 models depending on your budget. Gigabyte is also making making great Z690 boards for a good price.
  3. The motherboard. You have a great CPU and cooler for overclocking, and a motherboard that will hold you back.
  4. So I got it this morning and already played with it for quite some time. Thing is a monster. There is alot more performance gain than I expected. It really stretches its legs on 3840x1600 monitor. So far playing demanding games like BF2042, which is AVX load + it pins the GPU at max load, I didn't have issues with the power delivery. PC works fine and looks to be stable. One annoying thing is GPUs temp target. It does everything to keep itself at 69-70C. Right now its fine with ambient temp around 20C, it idles at 30C with fans off and holds 70C at max load with fans at around 1400RPM which isn't noticeable, especially wearing headphones. But come the summer time with temps reaching 30C outside + humidity, it will get louder. Next up is upgrading to Ryzen 7000 series. Will probably get 7800X3D, 32 gigs of DDR5 and a decent motherboard for moderate overclocking. Oh and by the way, this is a TIGHT fit if I ever seen one. Literally no space between it and the fans. Also having fan on top of the GPU is very unusual, but I gotta say, this thing is sexy. I always loved Nvidia's reference designs.
  5. Well currently my total power draw should be around 600 watts or even a little less. 200W 9900k, ~320W 3080 and rest of the components. Reference 3090 "shouldn't" draw much more power compared to my Asus 3080. I have some faith in my 750W GQ. But getting a 1000W PSU will be on my radar as well as my plan to switch on AM5 platform
  6. So I managed to snatch myself a used RTX3090 for less than expected 6950XT price. Now the upgrade is just mere 30 euros. Yes, its a used card, but from a trustworthy lad who sells alot of used PC components around here. He says there are no issues and the card was used in his gaming rig running games and nothing else, so I should be golden. My EVGA 750" GQ power supply though will be even closer to its limits. But according to reddit users and my own math, it should be enough to power 9900k and 3090
  7. Logitech G905. Although it low profile, its still mechanical, full size, wireless with amazing battery life. Talking from 1 year experience with it.
  8. DLSS in my experience does not provide any real world benefit. In my instances it either does not provide any benefit when set to "quality", and when going beyond to balanced or even performance mode, it downgrades resolution so much, it simply defeats the purpose of playing on a high resolution monitor in the first place. Hence why I never really used it, which is why I'm looking for an upgrade. I even stumbled upon some nice 3090 deals of 800ish euros (Used).
  9. I use it purely for gaming at 3840 x 1600p. RTX and DLSS are not important to me. RTX kills the performance and DLSS in my experience makes resolution noticeably blurry, so I don't use that. Hence why I'm looking for raw performance without RTX or DLSS. But doesn't AMD have something similar to DLSS?
  10. Hello everyone I have a possibility of upgrading my RTX3080 to a 6950XT. Do you think that upgrade is justified? It would cost me around 100 euros because I would instantly sell my 3080 to a friend who already offered me a good price. I've seen quite a few comparisons of two cards, and 6950XT is on par or even beats 3080Ti in some cases, and is clearly faster than 3080. I'm running on 3840 x 1600 monitor, so an upgrade even of 10FPS in some games would be very noticeable for me. Also, all the comparisons are using "older" AMD drivers, and AMD has a history of improving performance with driver updates. So what do you guy think? EDIT: Forgot to mention, my 3080 is 10GB model, not a 12GB one.
  11. Can I ask why you even bother with documentation and tech support in this case? Most if not all cards these days will have 0 fan mode where funs would idle until GPU reaches 50-55%. so the first thing you should've done it to put some GPU load and see what happens with the fans and GPU temps. There is no point in using any software unless you're doing manual overclock, in which case its better to use MSI Afterburner.
  12. It won't affect cooling performance. Maybe 1 or 2% at the highest. You can try bending them back to shape. I used to do that with 2 razor blades on RTX2080Ti that my friend bumped against the side of his table and bend a decent chunk of the stack
  13. So a decent Z690/Z790 board with 13600k would be a better option? Are there any concrete news on its longevity?
  14. Hello again I've been planning an upgrade, and now I want to begin considering options. What would be the best long-term upgrade right now? Judging by how AMD works, AM5 would be better option because down the line I'd like to keep old mobo and buy a newer CPU 2-3 years later. Budget for CPU/Mobo/32 gigs DDR5 - 1000 euros My only concern is price of current AM5 mobos. Any decent AM5 motherboard is around 350-400 euros. Is this how it is nowadays or are there are cheaper AM5 board coming in the future? I'm a little hesitant going for Intel because previous gens didn't have any future upgrade paths. Anyway, what are your suggestions? Main use case is gaming. I don't think getting something over 7600x or 13600k isn't really worth it right now, and besides, I'm playing in 4k, not 1080p 360Hz
  15. Yes, I tried a different GPU and even a different PC (Had my brother bring me his rig). Turned out Lg ultragear monitors have this issue where they have to be "manually" reset by unplugging them and doing factory settings reset. After that monitor is working as if nothing happened....
  16. @191x7So after going through reddit and other forums regarding LG monitors, it turned out ALOT of LG monitors have this problem where DP port simply stops working... Solution? Turning off/on and resetting monitor settings fixes the problem. I'm sorry LG but what the f*ck? I've just spent my entire evening on my day off troubleshooting my entire setup to to find out LG monitors have to be unpluged and pluged back after some time.
  17. @Stahlmann @BuzzingBee Continuing my saga - This monitor also developed a fault. This time a different kind - DP port died it seems. I can get into Bios on 800 x 600 (or even lower I think) resolution, but as soon as PC boots past motherboard logo, I get no signal. HDMI works totally fine, but its limited to 75Hz. Tried different DP and HDMI cables. Same story with every cable I think I will sell everything and get laptop
  18. Turns out it's not a PC at all, it's a monitor issue. I've got an HDMI cable that I know 100% works (The one I tried before is not working), and it works off of it. Apparently I have a broken monitor (again). DP simply isn't working, even with a working cable, I don't get a signal. Amazing. 3rd broken monitor in 2 months. Happy me
  19. I've tried, but any time I try to change boot priority on Bios, screen goes black. I have no idea what dark magic this is now
  20. @191x7 From what I understand its either CPU or the motherboard. Ive tried my GPU and RAM I another PC and they work fine, as well as trying different GPU and RAM in mine . I doubt its a PSU as symptoms are not looking like dead PSU Could a bad SSD cause this? When swapping RAM for a couple of times I got "Boot" LED staying on, and nothing happening. But it should be blinking of there is an error, not staying on permanently
  21. No, I can't get a video out past Bios and "Press Del to enter Bios" screen
  22. I've tried HDMI and DP cables, tried CPU and GPU outs. Tried different RAM, same thing. I turn the PC on, monitor responds, I get motherboard logo on the screen for a second, and then "No Signal" from the monitor. I can get into Bios for some reason, but weirdly resolution is down to 800 by 600 making it almost unusable.
  23. PC actually boots into windows, but I get no video out for some reason...
