  1. a) im not sure what the right stuff is lol. First time Water Cooling. b) I wanted to run two separate loops (one for GPU and one for CPU) and make it look good. So if I use more tubing then necessary thats okay. c) I know I got good parts I just didnt know if it was the best I could do for this level of desktop (without going xeon and stuff)
  2. yeah it was like 95k? haha Im only looking at like 10k haha (which is still obscene amount of money for a desktop) But i just need to figure out how to make wtaercooling loops
  3. Lol. I mean I didnt want a WS motherboard lol. I was trying to keep with more consumer type things lol. But thanks for the build!
  4. Here is kind of what I was looking at on PartPicker. Once again minus the watercooling loops and also the m.2 comparability is an easy fix. I'll just use my two open PCIE x16 lanes for storage. http://pcpartpicker.com/list/9qN2r7
  5. Check this out. This is minus watercooling loops. Also, it says compatibility issues but you just need two m.2 adapter and use the extra PCI e lanes for m.2 storage. http://pcpartpicker.com/list/9qN2r7
  6. Hey man, Im looking at also building something along these lines. I wouldnt get just SSD's first of all. A) they dont work as well for just plan storage. Anything that is static and doesnt change its actually faster to get a fast HDD. So I would look into a WD Black 6tb or a Seagate 10TB. Also, you cant Raid 0 two M.2 on a x99 motherboard. They dont support it. I would definately get a samsung 960 pro (they just release the 960 over the 950) and it goes up to 2tb on that. You can run more m.2 on a PCIe lane but you cant Raid them. Trust me I looked into it since I wanted to do it myself. The z170 motherboards support it but not the x99. So I would definately put a m.2 in the m.2 slot. Then you have the option to add up to two more if you dont use all the x16 slots for graphics cards. Two Titan X Pascals is the most you can do right now unless you want to go 4 way sli 980 GTX TI. If you go the Titan X Pascal (Which I would recommend) you have space for other things like a Sound card (Creative Blaster ZxR), m.2 adapters, or maybe a dedicated Internet card (Asus 3200AC Adapter). I would definitely just get the two Titan X Pascals, get up to 4 m.2 960 Pro 2 TB (one in the m.2 slot, 2 for the 2 unused pcie x16 slots and 1 for the pcie x4 slot since technically thats what it would go in anyways. Its just compatable with the x16 slots as well) if you want to max out your PCIe slots and then add the sound card. Just make one your bootup drive and the rest storage. Then fill up on HDD (either the WD Black 6tb or Seagate 10tb) based on how many slots you have on your motherboard. Speaking of Motherboard, I would actually switch to the ASUS Rampage V Edition 10. As of this moment I believe it is considered the best X99 Motherboard out there. (about 600 dollars which is what most are that are top end) Also, the case they mentioned is a good one but another alternative would be the Corsair 900D. I'd pick which one you like better as they are both very modular and very spacious. CPU like others have stated the i7-6950x is top of the line unless you go Xeon. For RAM check out the Dominator Platinum SE Blackout or Chrome. There is also a Corsair AX1500i over the AX1200i. Also, check out some RGB fans they are pretty expensive but pretty badass. Corsair has some they just released and thermaltake has their Riing series. Also look into RAM coolers. Corsair has some for their RAM or there are third parties that do it too. Another great way to drive up the price is to water cool it which I would recommend for a build like this. Also look into 4k monitors to drive up the price
  7. Ah okay that makes more sense lmao. I did look at those ram cases and they look cool. I just dont know how i feel about the colors. And yeah the corsair case fans do look like the best RGB case fans that ive seen so far. The thermaltake riings are nice but the corsair ones have better LED that I can tell. (whole fan is led rather then just a ring) Edit: actually the ROG ones are pretty niiiiiice
  8. Yeah but you have to use the old bridges and possible use 3rd party software to unlock it. There isnt a whole point in using 4 way sli with the new cards tho till its better supported. Plus with the new bridges you can get almost the same speed as four way sli because they work at a faster frequency.
  9. Originally yes. I was looking at quad sli but nvidia changed that. I might want to look at quad sli for older cards at some point just for fun but the option would be nice.
  10. Which is why I want to make one like those. But I need help. I dont know enough about mods to do that. Watercooling and moding is beyond what I know.
  11. A few reasons. First, I want to learn how to do it myself. Watercooling in particular. Second, you can brag more if you build it yourself instead of having someone else build it. Third, I can pay over time better if I buy the parts myself lol.
  12. Actually, the 6850k has more PCI lanes. 40 over 28 as well as higher core speeds (3.8 over 3.6). So faster and also supports more lanes
  13. I've thought about it but im not fully sure how to do that. Also im not sure how to make the whole PC work in that kind of enviroment (i.e where to put the parts or how to do the watercooling loops)
  14. okay then what fans would you suggest? I was hoping to go RGB 120 mm fans. I'll have to check those out those tubes Oooooo I'll look into that M.2 as well. As for the 6950x Yes for 1.7k that is over priced. I checked amazon price history and they had it at 1k for a while 3rd party new. For THAT price it is worth it imo. Im not paying 1.7k for that thing lol.
  15. Alright I'll take a look at Jayztwocents. And Im aware that I could spend 2-3k and have a gaming desktop. I mostly wanted to build one that high end so I could have a custom one of a kind desktop (or at least one of a few). I wanted to also look at some mods to make it more different as well. Plus I like the bragging rights. Im obviously not buying this all up front but over time. Just get the essentials first and then get the extra RAM and Storage and stuff later.
