  1. Thanks, didn't know that, will try TrueNAS Scale. I'm not NAS expert, and I know that flash is not reommended, but it's a small home NAS. And as I've said I changed everything, including instalation thumb drive. It seems super stange that pool works fine on Linux, it must be something simple, even a bug perhaps? Edit: Upgraded to Scale – didn't work (fail to boot), installed Scale on to SSD – booted up, but same Panic error on pool import. I'm done, using Mint to recover my data, I wasted enough time on this crappy software.
  2. Update – followed this video (just with Mint instead of Ubuntu as I had it) and I was able to load entire pool and read data. But for some reason FreeNAS/TrueNAS won't load even with totally different hardware, what a pile of crap...
  3. Long story short – NAS rebooted due to CPU overheat few times and it seems ZFS pool got corrupted. NAS rebooted/crashed specifically on file transfers. I thought that reboots were due to failing trumb drive, but after monitoring temp I've noticed that at 70c NAS rebooted and after improving cooling reboots went awway, but it was too late. OS on 32GB thumb drive, 8GB RAM, 3* 3TB WD RED. OS boots normaly if I remove all hard drives. Initial FreeNAS version was 11.??, after few crashes and "Panic" error on bootup I've updated OS and it seem to boot up normally until another crash. I was able to boot up NAS few times after with different versions up to TrueNAS12, but at the moment it does not boot to any version (with drives plugged in). I've attached HDDs to another computer, flashed new OS to a new flash drive, tested few versions after importing config and getting same bootup panic error. HDDs physicaly seems to be fine and ran SMART witohut issues. I have known good config export and I'm able to export config when booting witohut HDDs attached. I don't mind loosing data that was stored rescently, the oldest data that is most important. Note – I'm far from being expert what comes to FreeNAS/TrueNAS. Is there a way to restore pool and save data?
  4. Hi, got D5 pump from Aquacomputer, was working fine for few years, but recently impeller started to scratch main body. Scoured the internet – didn't find any spare impellers for purchase which is strange knowing that D5 pump is (was) so popular in watercooling rigs. Maybe someone has spare impeller and would like to sell it? I'm from EU.
  5. So far best I could find is SilverStone SST-NJ450-SXL but it's pricy – 173Eur... I wonder could I just use regular good quality PSU, replace its fan and "hack" it to reduce spin...
  6. Hey, I want to remove fans from my NAS, configuration: 3x3TB HDD MOBO: Asus C60M1-I (integrated 5W CPU) I may add 3 more drives in the future. Even with 6 drives I need really low power PSU, any suggestions? BTW, I don't want dodgy crap from aliexpress, I need well known brand name PSU with good warranty. I think 200-250W is enough for what I need. I will be adding one very low RPM fan to move air, so please don't whine about it tnx in advance.
  7. Thank You for Your input. What if I use Linux based PC instead of WIN7, I bet I can do easily what I want in linux + as I understand I can use ZFS to make it as a NAS, will that do the job? Otherwise I can get low power dedicated mini server MOBO with hardware RAID capability and just share that RAID drive via Win7 LAN, tho I have to use RAID5 or 6 for that instead of ZFS. Plus I will get "regular" win 7 PC for my other stuff... Also I guess if MOBO dies I will end up in a pickle... I love how FreeNAS lets you just swap mobos with no issues (I have to do this once already). Any thoughts on this? P.S. originally I was using this MOBO but it started misbehave:
  8. I want both to run 24/7. @Windows7ge define "decent experience" So there is no lazy solution to do what I want... I'm so not in to spending all time require to understand how to make it work with Debian+ZFS+QEMU... I'm not a linux person.
  9. Hello, I have DIY FreeNAS with these specs: Intel Pentium G4560 8GB non ECC memory (I know I'm a bit short on RAM, deal with it) 32GB USB for NAS OS 3*3TB for data I would like to make this NAS as my low end windows7 machine as well (for Arduino programing, WEB surfing, retro gaming), but I don't know what is the best way. Originally my idea was to create VM on FreeNAS for that (I'm not familiar with VMs), but it seems that the only way to use VM is by remote connection, I don't think this is what I need. I have also an external low end graphic card for win7, I want to use this VM as regular PC by plugging keyboard, mouse, monitor and so on... Should I have to install windows on it and use some sort of NAS software in windows themselves and keep it always on? I need advice... Also I'm considering ditching this setup entirely and using dedicated low power server stuff, but the question remains, how to make it to work as a network NAS and as a regular Win7 machine at the same time? Thanx in advance.
  10. I just came back and NAS is down (was on all the time)... "KDB: enter: panic [ thread pid 827 tid 101118 ] Stopped at ...." "panic" Epic... What do I do now? Hard reset? Typing on keyboard doesn't help, no reaction... In the past I have rebuild RAID0 (WIN7 on it) on to another drives and OS booted so at least I have experience playing with raids and I have to say server style boards are solid rock stable, at least that is my experience. P.S. I knew some data backup nazi will come and teach... Why you think I do not have 3 servers in different locations with backups? You think I don't know how to properly backup data? I don't have backup because it's too expensive, so spare me the bullshit pls unless you have extra HDDs and servers to give away....
  11. Hi, yesterday I tried to boot my NAS (was off for a while) to get data and I was „pleasantly“ surprised when it just spits huge amount of text and do nothing... I'm so frustrated, I thought Freenas is more stable than that and easy to troubleshoot but boy I was wrong, I cant find anything useful on google... I realized I don't have a clue where to start... I was creating this thread to ask for help, but while I was typing this I was rebooting NAS with new cable, new Router slot aaaand it did booot... I can't confirm or deny that it was issue with cable or Router (definitely not cable cos it works on the same cable as before). Still, I don't want to experience this again and I'm considering adding 3 x 3TB drives to my ASUS Z9PE-D8 MOBO as an RAID5 and be done with it, I had really good experience on customer support troubleshooting issues + I don't really need access data from other computers. Mobo has 64GB ECC ram, workstation on UPS, so I'm assuming its good place for drives to live. What You think?
  12. I did – second image. Yellow text "Note:The function only supports [Open system?NONE, Open..." means I have to remove password from tablet AP? I'm not getting window where I should enter tablet AP password...
  13. More datails? My menu options below, I can get tablet detected (red arrow), but I don't know how to connect to it
