Windows 10 has just had a fresh install as I updated my bios and things went a bit wrong. I've installed the latest Nvidia drivers from their website and used Driver Booster to update the rest of the drivers.

Games I'm playing currently are Mafia 3 and GTA V

I've upgraded from a dirty old stock fan to a Noctua NH-D14, gave it a good clean out while I was at it. CPU went from running at 90c at idle to 30c some difference. That fan is epic! It's getting up to around 60c with load so I don't think its thermal throttling.

Hi Everyone, I'm getting some really shocking FPS drops, everything is all nice at 60 FPS then suddenly it'll drop to 8 FPS. The only games I'm playing just now are Mafia 3 and GTA V. Same things happening in both games. My PC specs are: Gigabyte Z68XP-UD4 Intel Core i7 2600 3.40GHz 16GB Kingston DDR3-1334 PC3-10700U MSI GeForce GTX 970 Gaming 4GB Samsung 750 Evo SSD 500GB Windows 10 64bit Nothing is overclocked, I'm using the recommended settings in GeForce Experience. It's not the latest and greatest graphics card, and most of the PC is 5 years old now but surely I should be able to hold a steady frame rate. Any tips on troubleshooting and avoiding the FPS drops?
