  1. Thank you guys! I thought Ryzen was better for multipurpose, especially since it's going to be render/modeling type stuff. Did this change?
  2. Budget (including currency): $1500 USD Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: CAD (Modeling/Rendering), gaming Other details: Monitor has to be within the $1500. Hello! I haven't really been paying attention to PC parts since around 4 years ago, so I am completely lost as to where different CPUs and GPUs stand for certain tasks (any knowledge helps) My friend needs a workstation PC (AutoCAD/Modeling/Rendering), but he'll be doing some gaming on it as well, so it does need to be multipurpose in that sense. His budget is $1500 including the monitor (he has the other peripherals). He does not care about size or flashy-ness (the less LEDs the better)
  3. Hello! My friend needs a (prebuilt) PC for $1k-1.5k (monitor included). He does not care about size or aesthetics, and he will use it for gaming as well as CAD and modeling, so something with a stronger CPU would be nice. A 1440p 144/165Hz monitor would probably be optimal, and perhaps closer to 32gb of RAM (but 16 will probably be fine). I wanted to see what you guys say, Thank you!
  4. Turns out the microphone that connects to the headset wasn't pushed in enough. Not sure why it worked on the laptop, maybe it used the laptops audio
  5. Hi I got a pair of Corsair HS60s yesterday and the mic doesn't seem to work. I've made sure I'm unmuted, i've tried with and without the USB converter it has, but all I can get to work is the speaker portion. The HS60 microphone shows up as an input, but when tested it makes no noise. When I toggle the mic mute, it makes a slight static noise. I plugged it in to a laptop with a dedicated headset port, and it worked there. I'm using an NZXT s340 and a b350 mortar arctic motherboard, and afaik there is no headset port, barring the headphone front panel jack, which I broke. Basically the HS60's USB adapter doesn't let the mic work (I've tried different ports). Any ideas/work arounds? I've done W10 troubleshoot twice and it has not resolved the issue.
  6. Can someone explain the random 60MB download GlassWire says occured? It doesn't say what downloaded, it  just says some random link used the connection and I have no clue what to do with the link

  7. My CPU (i5 6500) is getting a bit old and as a result every background task (discord, firefox, etc) takes 20-40%. Besides upgrading, any tips?

  8. Only??? Haha I just need to make sure it can pass 100+, thank you
  9. Thank you! What speeds do you get vs. the wifi you pay for?
  10. I've had a PCI.E WiFi card for a while but it cant go past 60 Mb/s (it's supposed to be ~100). USB wifi don't work any better and running Ethernet is NOT an option. Powerline doesn't work any better either. The budget is around $50. Thank you!
  11. Did something happen to Wi-Fi? 100 Mb/s down isnt enough for three streams? Or maybe its my wifi card.

    1. EL02

      EL02

I have 15mbps connection and it's enough for 3 videos streaming at 1080p.

  12. youre right, it almost does, but I might be able to fit it in. Will this mess with the GPUs fan?
  13. oh wow thanks my bad for not doing more research the GPU kind of blocks this, but i think the wifi card is slim enough. Thank you! (again)
  14. Hi, I recently installed a M.2 (XPG SX8200) into my system, but as a result my PCIe wifi card doesn't work anymore. I have two PCIe slots, one for the GPU and one for the wifi card (I'm using an MSI b150 Mortar Arctic), so I can't really move it around. Is there any possible solution? I haven't had a good experience with powerline (quite expensive too) or USB wifi adapters. Running an ethernet is not a viable option either. TYIA
  15. EDIT: Nevermind, Idk if its safe I assumed itd be fine, just wait for someone who knows abt this stuff to come by see here https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/715942-450w-psu-for-500w-gpu/
  16. I forgot to update, once I formatted to GPT, the drive showed up as unallocated, I right clicked on it > new simple volume and from there it was just a matter of clicking "Ok" until the drive showed up, thank you for all the help! Not sure if the SATA1 not being there affected it, but at the end of the day it worked
  17. As soon as I go into here it says MBR or GPT to "initialize" a disk. Google says GPT for SSDs, but i'll wait to see what you think
  18. Alright, the drive shows up (I can "boot" into it?) but I don't see it on windows nor do I see it in the bios
  19. hi I tried to install a m.2 SSD (xpg sx8200 512gb) on my MSI b150 mortar arctic, but the slot itself doesn't show up As in when I go to storage in the BIOS it just shows the sata 1-6 drives, no M.2_1. The manual only brings up wifi m.2, but after some googling it does seem as if this motherboard does support it. My other drives are a 120gb SSD (boot drive connected to SATA1) and a 1TB HDD (sata2).
  20. Oh thank you, well I checked Tom's hardware and the xpg seems to be better, but thank you for the help! https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/wd-blue-sn550-m2-nvme-ssd-review-best-dramless-ssd-yet/2
  21. Aw, I thought it was pretty good since (well I assume) it just stitches together all the info of benchmarks people with that hardware run, so itd be immune to bias and better than looking at reviews
  22. Thank you! I'm really going to try to avoid reaching 90% capacity though Im looking at the CPU user benchmark, and the XPG seems to be better in everything besides mixed IOPS, and isnt that the only stat that matters for day-to-day? Idk, because the XPG still has much higher peak speads (for IOPS aswell). Im not really sure how important that is though
