  • Biography
Whoa, someone is reading my Biography? I'm honored! I'm Xanthe, and I'm a time traveler from the year 2,871. I enjoy many things, but here on the LTT forum I provide help to those who need it. From smartphones to Photoshop, I have many areas of expertise. Curious about the future? Ask me in a private message, or post your question as a status on my wall. The forums are (mostly) for serious business, so I won't go into detail about the future there. Otherwise, have a great day, and I'll see you in the forums!

My strongest areas of expertise, in no particular order:
    Android
    eBay Selling
    Adobe Photoshop
    File Recovery
    Product Value Assessment
    USB Gadgets
    File Formats
    Gmail and other web services
    YouTube
    Website Analytics; cPanel

I will still try to help people out if a topic isn't in my direct area of knowledge and has no responses. In general when it comes to hardware, I don't know a whole lot.

  1. Hello again! It's been exactly a year since I first asked this question. You can see the conversation and poll results from last year here. I wanted to ask this again because I think the role of smart assistants in our lives has changed some. In the last year we've seen echo dots and home minis disseminate like the Borg. Resistance is futile. With more and more everyday non-techies using this tech, I think it's place in society has also changed some. I'm curious if your answers have changed! For me, I maintain my belief that saying please and thank you is the best approach, mainly because these things are getting more and more human like, and if we allow ourselves to be rude to them, we may unknowingly become rude to real people too. Also, as a bonus for this year: How about Google Duplex? Do you, or will you, say "please" and "thank you" to that?

How can I get a replacement for this USB pen holder?

Thanks! I don't know if 3D printed plastic would be soft enough, I'd fear it snapping in half over time. I can use the 3D printer at my college for free, if I bring plastic, but I think it only does ABS. I've been told before the school bans PLA because people were using it to make, inappropriate things. Whatever that means.

How can I get a replacement for this USB pen holder?

Thank you! I reached out and they sent me this: https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/accessories-and-monitors/pens-and-supplies/pen-holders/TAB-ACC-BO-ThinkPad-USB-Pen-Holder/p/4X80J67430 For $3/pc that's pretty reasonable. I don't need 5, but whatever. Not that big a deal.
  4. Hi. I lost this little USB holder thing that goes in my laptop to carry the optional pen around. I can find bundles with the pen and the holder, but I can't find just the holder. I'm not even sure what to call it. This is what it looks like: This is the bundle. It is the same pen and parts that came with my laptop, but if someone can find me the same type of part by a different brand I don't really care, as long as it fits. https://www.amazon.com/Lenovo-Capacity-Touchscreen-Laptops-GX80K32882/dp/B01AZC3HF2/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1548222312&sr=8-4&keywords=usb+pen+holder+for+laptop

When will the US government get their heads out of their asses and do their jobs?

This timeline has been significantly contaminated. I would speculate Trump will still pull an emergency Declaration as he did in my 2019, in mid-February. It will be challenged, the Supreme Court will step in almost immediately, and will rule in Trump's favor. Operations will resume late February.

P.S: The T-Mobile x Sprint merger will be approved.

Just a bunch of phones enjoying the moment, not a person in sight. Beautiful~

  7. Amazon sells albums on CD-R's? I'm very sceptical 🤔 but I can't find any better options to get this particular score on CD.

Some research online suggests the was a small run of actual pressed CDs but Amazon is only offering "On Demand Burned CD-R's". I really hope this isn't the same crappy .MP3's on YouTube being burned to a disk for $11.99. I can do that myself.

I don't want a CD for convince. I want a CD for CD quality audio. Does anyone have experience with Amazon CD-R's?

How much can I flip this for?

    Absolutely

How much can I flip this for?

Not sure about eBay UK but here you'd be looking at approximately 12.5% loss between eBay and PayPal.

How much can I flip this for?

Researching online I find that similarly damaged phones tend to sell for around $100-$200 US, or about £75 to £160. Here's a list of completed listings on eBay: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=samsung+galaxy+s9+cracked+screen&_sacat=0&rt=nc&LH_Complete=1 Always check completed listings when trying to find the value of something. Just because you see someone asking $300 for an item doesn't mean it's worth that. P.S: In case you didn't know, Green listings sold for that price. Red listings didn't sell. Black listings didn't sell for that price, but got relisted, probably for less.

Android Audio OTG with USB Sound Card

I don't really know much about this, but since you're not getting any replies I found some links that might be useful: https://www.diyaudio.com/forums/pc-based/285337-usb-spdif-converter-android.html https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/111937/connect-a-usb-soundcard-to-an-android-phone-and-use-it-for-videos
  12. I would avoid the computer and just install from Google Play on the device directly. If that's not possible then try sideloading. APKmirror is a good source.

Fix broken charger on amazon fire tablet?

If you just want to recover data I'd consider two options: Remove the charging port altogether. Cut the ends off a cheap USB cable and solder it in directly. Buy a used replacement battery on eBay. It should come already charged about half way, which ought to be enough. You could also buy another Kindle Fire used, charge that one up, then swap batteries. The Kindles tend to be pretty cheap, especially used.

    Phone wont charge need help

Try these steps: Use a different cable and wall adaptor Check the phone's charging port for damage. Does the connection go in smoothly an stay in tight? Check the cable, is there any dust or debris? Looking on Google it doesn't seem like this is a mass issue for that phone. It's most likely a physical issue with the phone or charger, ort user error.
