  1. The 'continued breaking' was more just bad luck on my part. The PSU was one of the things I had to replace after only 6 weeks lol. Failing drives, then I bought a FTW 1080 which had thermal pasting issues etc. I'm aware the 7700K isn't that big of a jump, that's why I've been considering Ryzen, Intel have become stagnant due to AMD not being competitive so hopefully AMD doing something will force Intel to fight back. I'll give the video a watch later today and also read your signature guide. I know there's no difference in that 5fps, I'm just thinking when streaming I'm currently dropping 30 from OBS alone and then that other 5 could be much better utilised If I still had it. Although going from 4770 > 1700 I will likely gain that 5 back from the CPU change anyway.
  2. I'm not planning on building this system myself or even overclocking it myself but fortunately, the company I usually use offer it for free anyway so I'm going to go with a 1700 that's overclocked to 3.8Ghz.
  3. Thanks for the reply @tom_w141, this is my issue and why I've been slightly unsure on what to do. I play at 1440p@144Hz so wouldn't having a 1700 hinder me when it comes to fps AND streaming? I'm running a 4770K & GTX 1080 right now and I am struggling with streaming, as in games feel sluggish.
  4. I'm currently running a 4770K that was built in May 2013, I've had several issues with this system over the years and I've already spent a great deal having to repair/upgrade little bits from time to time. Now however, It seems It's the motherboards turn to give me issues, my top PCI slot has died, along with my PCI-E so I thought It was about time I got a new system, the only problem? I'm completely out of the loop when it comes to the latest processors. I've not followed AMD since.. well, my last processor which was a single core FX57 chip from around 2008/9. I use my system mostly for gaming but I have gotten into streaming recently and tend to do long sessions of around 5+ hours. Aside from that, I do some design work on Adobe software but rendering for the most part is pretty minimal. Again, this is minimal but I do use it as a media centre from time to time because of playing back 4K content and some games on my TV. One thing I seem to notice from benchmarks is that the 1700X seems to fetch lower fps scores in some games? But I don't know If this is in general or title specific as I've not seen a whole bunch of data. Any input here would be hugely appreciated.
  5. A few weeks ago my GTX 1080 decided It was time to bow out and the fans stopped responding to anything what so ever, upon returning it I've been issued a refund due to lack of stock at the retailer. I know this is partly subjective but I'm wondering if there are certain things that would make me choose one brand over another? I've had MSI, ASUS & Zotac in the past and whilst I've only ever had to deal with customer support once, I don't want to go through the whole ordeal again considering how poor it was previously. Is there a stand out card that offers good performance (I know most are fairly similar) and the company are also known for having good customer support too? The main three I've been looking at are the MSI GAMING X, EVGA FTW3 & ASUS STRIX. The Gigabyte Aurous has caught my eye too but I've never had any Gigabyte components/experience at all.
  6. Yes. I've tried it with several different cables. DVI and several different HDMI cables.
  7. The HD4000 was disabled when I tried with the GTX 1080 and I had the same result. [Edit] I forgot to mention, I've even tried a full reinstall of drivers using DDU and still had no luck upon connecting and changing resolution to 3840x2160.
  8. GTX 1080 & HD4000 onboard.
  9. I've just purchased myself a new TV and decided to hook It up via HDMI to take a look at some 4K games/content. I've currently got it hooked up via DVI although I've tried HDMI already. Whenever I click 'Apply', no matter what the settings are, I get this across both monitors that are connected to the same graphics card: Can anyone offer any advice or has anyone come across this problem before? Excuse the mess, wires going everywhere whilst I get this sorted out
  10. I know for sure that my 1080 supports 4K at both the resolutions I mentioned above. As to why I'm getting this black screen, I have no idea. I've done a full driver reinstall and I've had no luck at all.
  11. I'd only be able to use DP > HDMI as the TV doesn't have a DisplayPort.
  12. I've just decided to purchase myself a 4K TV and as It's a new toy I need to try a little bit of everything on it so I decided to hook up my GTX 1080 via HDMI (to HDMI1) and see how things go. Straight away the 1080p connection kicks in so I decided to ramp it up to 3840x2160 @ 60Hz, the screen went black and flashed before showing me a few outline of what looked like Windows 10 with the old Windows Classic skin on it. I thought that It could be Hz related so I dialled it down to 50 and 30 both of which gave the same result. After realising the monitor was actually cable of 4096x2160 I decided to give that at the same Hz as above, each one gave the same response. I've also tried a DVI to HDMI cable and again, same result. Does anyone have a clue to what might be causing this? I'm considering a fresh driver reinstall but I run one monitor at 1440p and another at 1080p all the time and I never have an issue when it comes to those.
  13. I'm looking for a monitor to pair with my PG278Q that has a VESA mount, I've looked on several sites and unless I'm missing something the closest I can't seem to find anything close to it? It's being slightly picky but I'd rather stick two monitors of the same brand/look next to each other than two seperate. My budget is £400 (roughly). It has to have a VESA mount for the arm I'm purchasing and also be 4K. It's going to be used for media consumption and light gaming for some single player titles. Thanks in advanced!
  14. Okay so I need to bump this as I've had no solution, I have noticed that when my temps hit 70/80c on the GPU that the squares appear more BUT they only appear on videos, & gifs. I've not found them in any game yet..
  15. Well, after running Furmark on my 1080 I've just found that the 'artifacts' are appearing on every single video and gif that I scroll past now, It takes a second but it disappears after. I'm guessing this will tell me if the problem is motherboard(PCI-E) or GPU related?
  16. I'm running a GTX 1080 FE so I'll give Furmark a run and see how it goes. If I don't come to a conclusion would removing the 1080 and just trying the onboard graphics be worth a shot or would I need to find another card I could try in there?
  17. When I'm watching a video, be it on YouTube or Facebook etc I seem to get a weird graphical glitch on the videos. 95% of the time I find that the video has black squares across it but they appear to vanish after a few seconds of the video has played. The strangest part so far is that I've now noticed It's begun to do it on gifs as well. It's very random so trying to capture a screenshot of it has been a pain so far so I'll use a comparison and show you what's happening to my image too. My image: http://imgur.com/iE4iN9R (The left side of the image is clearly not showing properly). Comparison: Similar to this Any clue as to what could be causing this?
  18. I probably should of mentioned that my budget is around £300, sorry about that. I don't see the point in having a second 1440p 144Hz monitor at that price when It's just going to be secondary.
  19. I'm looking to purchase a monitor stand and have them both attached to it, in the long run I'm trying to create my perfect setup and would rather have two matching monitors than two different. As I've been having a hard time matching an ASUS product I was wondering if there's anything that might come close to it, that's also 27" and 144Hz. I'm sorry if this topic is slightly stupid but I'm sure some of you can appreciate that you just like to have your setup a certain way. That and OCD is an absolute bitch to deal with.
