Pyrii reacted to Stefan Payne in Efficiency matter?
that might be but as an Enduser its impossible to determine...

true, though the difference between Gold Units isn't that high.

But in General I'd say that the Efficiency Level isn't important and should be secondary. Once you reach gold, everything is pretty close electrically, with a couple of exceptions of course...

Even cheapish units like the Xilence Performance X are surprisingly good.

Naa, not rally as they don't test overload and noise.
Both are the things where you still, to this day, have the biggest differences!!
Even today there are Gold+ Units that are at around 1250rpm or more at med-high loads (400-550W)...

And then there is their stingray osciloscope that is far from the requirement for ATX compliant ripple/noise measurements: 20MHz.
The Stingray only has a couple of kHz...

Pyrii got a reaction from Gazelem in RAM compatibility question
Problem is, die/controller differences might cause issues and slow down the RAM as a whole. If speed isn't an issue and don't mind the performance hit of mismatched sticks then you're okay.

Only just heard about this on the Jimquisition.

If it provides a clear advantage (I say if because I don't know, I don't play FIFA or sports games at all because I view them and sports as pointless, purely my opinion and not the point of this thread at all) over other players, or in some way provides a (potential) benefit to the player, in exchange for real world currency, does that not count as gambling?

Edit: I am referring to loot boxes here, not microtransactions. Specifically I am questioning if it matters whether or not the "loot" is cosmetic only, makes it gambling. Personally I think the only argument for cosmetic loot from loot boxes not being gambling is "it has no inherent value" which is sort of a bad argument since you'd be saying it's not worth money anyways.

Full Disclosure: I am 100% anti-loot-boxes, and 100% anti-micro-transactions if they in any way provide a benefit to the player. This includes "cosmetic only" microtransactions as they're generally speaking, important to most online games. I don't want to look like everyone else in an online game. I want my Sith Lord to look rather unique and menacing EA *continues rambling for quite some time about how EA completely f**king ruined SWTOR....the bastards....

Not sure if this is allowed, mods please advise.

My server is an Sandy Bridge P67, and when I accidentally blew the board up with a loose screw, I had to pay a king's ransom on ebay for a replacement. I can definately sympathise.

I have 2 w3540s and a x5660, really want a X58 custom board so I can overclock it, but if you find a board they're sometime more than modern brand new ones. It's crazy. Keep living the dream, hope that board of yours has many days left in it.

I'm definitely overdue an upgrade (See my Angelic Rose thread). I wouldn't sell this board on though because I have a feeling it's dying.

Ah, I guess I only ever get directed to the US store from Tech places so I didn't know there was an EU store. Thanks @CableMod and @W-L

When googling I only found https://mod-one.com/connectors/ and their connectors seem to different in tones, and some are a bit translucent, and I'm not sure on compatibility. But they are pretty cheap.

Interesting to see the kind of computers the LTT staff use at home, it shows that different professions tend to dictate your computing needs at home. And how much Linus pays them (insert Linus kappa here, why is that not an emoticon?). I'm surprised they didn't upgrade his storage other than an OS SSD. I'm not too sure about the final selection, I can see why maybe Linus picked who he did, but I'm not sure he'll actually use it.

Semi-related to the video though I feel like I need a small rant.

It feels like any time AMD releases a new line of CPUs, Intel goes ham on marketing and sponsored content, and LTT seems to happily be party to this, since there's almost no coverage of Ryzen/TR builds both times they've been released. I get the feeling Intel is trying to make AMD's offerings irrelevant by just pushing their name up front with content creators as much as possible. I really worry about how objective LTT seems and how objective other people see LTT when they do "Value build"s with more expensive Intel processors just because it's sponsored by Intel, and just flood out Intel sponsored videos after every AMD launch. These are interesting times yet I feel like LTT only shows one side of the story.

I really want to see a better response to competition from Intel, all this flailing is what's driving me to AMD for the first time in over 15 years. I want to see Intel pull it's finger out and do better, but this... this is just sad to watch. Especially since this Promo is US/Canada only. AMD really should be countering with their own marketing too

I have no problem with sponsored content, but this has had me scratching my chin for some time. We get to see some interesting videos from LTT though, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

We do cover VAT/Import on EU orders from the EU store, however we don't have white connectors at this time.

If you want to purchase connectors yourself and sleeve cables places like Pexon customs has supplies and options for ordering sleeved cables, similar with Shak mods.

I e-mailed them about that, the person who replied said they like white cases too and didn't like it. Must be a designer/engineer decision.

EDIT: The Primo is tempting, but I think it might work better with a 240 on the front and 240 on the bottom.

Except it was a service that people paid for. Getting prime was for many people to remove ads so they could enjoy people's content WITHOUT interruptions. Many people subscribe for the same. This isn't a freebie on top of something, it's a service that people paid for and now they expect people to still pay while not getting that service.

You only need the below 3, going Pro isn't necessary and I doubt your house is large enough to require it.  The AC Lite defo comes with a POE injector in the box, so does the Pro if you get the retail version.  The Lite should be more than sufficient.

I can assure you that the EdgeRouter has PPPoE support, I have about 5 units running on BT lines in separate locations in the UK.

The Lite should be sufficient, if you want to shell out more for the Pro, its simply a bigger unit which is more capable.  Depends how big your home is, I own a 6 bed 3 story town house and I have 2 AC Pros to cover everything.   The AC Lite would likely be perfectly fine for me, but I didn't wanna put anything to chance

Don't spend £200 on a single device, do it properly and get devices that do each individual area well.  This allows you to use these devices in other scenarios later if for example you move to VirginMedia you could still use the router n wifi AP.

    Here would be my suggestion;
Draytek Vigor 130 for vDSL modem Ubiquiti EdgeRouter-X for Router Ubiquiti AC-Lite for WiFi access point That should be way under £200 and do the job far better than an 'all-in-one' unit.  It will also give you loads of features the all in one device could not.
