Maybe provide some context as to why you feel it is lacking something?
Evoking discussion is great and all but if there is no foundation or reason behind the question, it bears to mind the agenda or premise for the question asked.
The forum in its current form is the culmination of the last 10+ years of changes, improvements by necessity and of course community feedback.
FYI we have a forum suggestions section specifically available if you have specific feedback to provide. https://linustechtips.com/forum/81-forum-suggestions/

tatte got a reaction from whm1974 in The bicycle thread
I'm just a fat guy who bought a cheap mountain bike from a large sports chain store, but excited for the summer nonetheless. I assembled the bike Yesterday and test drove to work and back today, whopping 7km. It was fun and surprisingly quick, my neighbourhood is generally pretty hilly, but I have a great mostly flat route to work.
It has been about a decade since the last time I cycled any noteworthy amount. My original bike got stolen and I didn't replace it until a couple of years ago. My second bike was locked in a locked storage, yet it still got vandalised for parts. Fun. This time around I'm going to keep the bike in my apartment, thankfully even these cheap bikes have gotten absurdly light (I think mine is 14kg). I also got a decent chain with a good lock (thanks LPL), but I'll be trying my hardest never to leave it unsupervised anywhere but work.
Each time I have bought a bike I have also had to get a new pump. Figuring out Presta was fun.

tatte got a reaction from Bamgm14 in Laptop Recommendations for Budget of 1250USD
Lenovo Legion 5 Pro with 3060 should be around that price point. They have upgradeable RAM and storage, so starting with lower specs and bumping them up later is possible. I just bought one (16IAH7H), and I'm thoroughly impressed with the build quality.
IIRC TUF A15 has cooling issues, but if that 2022 implies a refresh those may have been addressed.

Older Lenovo from eBay. Aim for something like a T470, T470s.
I bought mine, fully loaded, for about $150.
If you must have a 2-in-1, you can find those too, but there's usually a higher chance of damage.
Welcome to the forum.

tatte reacted to Compengineer in One X, Series S or Pc ?
Series S is 500$
One X is 500$
They're both close to the same price, but I didn't know which would make more sense. There are also those who sell One X, a display product at a local online sales firm I trust, for$370. I was planning to buy it because it's cheap, but I can get a Series S now.
But because of the exchange rates, microsoft wants to keep gamepass fees too much in my country. Live Gold$3.5 Game Pass$3.5 Game Pass Ultimate$5.5 about costs. So I want to buy a Series s and play games with Game Pass Ultimate with sufficient performance until computer prices return to normal.
Because even if it's not about mining, laptop prices are ridiculous.
1650ti laptops$ 1000, 1650ti laptops$ 1150, 2060 laptops$1500.
I think in my country, the laptop stock is low, so the prices are very expensive. I'll buy a series S now, and next year, if the market improves, 5. generation ryzen want to buy a laptop.

tatte reacted to Jtalk4456 in Windows 10 deleted my Fallout 4 200 hour game saves and deleted essential software files so that my program icons on my desktop turn into blank icons
So these statements are contradictory. first you legally bought them from a webstore, then you're saying you got it from a buddy who sells them for a profit. While this CAN POSSIBLY be legal and legit, more often than not it is NOT LEGIT. You have asked for help from others, chosen to give as few details as possible, made contradictory statements about the origins of the software, and refused to answer basic questions relating to the problem. Honestly your reaction to some of us being understandably skeptical has been flat out rude. Also no one is offended by "OK Boomer" anymore. You need to reevaluate your strategy when asking for help. You make a SERIOUS accusation when you say that someone as big as Microsoft is just randomly deleting game files for no reason.
1. Why would they do that? what would the benefit be?
2. If they are, more people would have complained by now and we would know about this as a common issue.
3. Why just game files? why aren't your other program files disappearing? If only one thing is going wrong, it's probably not the system, it's just the one thing.
You're simply not following logic and talking like windows is doing this and being malicious. I'm not a fanboy, there's a LOT of problems with windows, but anytime i see someone just assume a big company is just completely broken and malicious and the whole thing needs to be burned to the ground, i start to question if you're an anti-fanboy. To illustrate, I took calls for a large international company that sometimes dealt with billing and doubled payments, payments after a cancelling, things like that. These customers would always jump to us committing fraud and stealing from them and all that nonsense. I told them every time: "If we were in the business of fraud, we wouldn't be in business very long."
If windows was as bad as you're making them out to be, they would be suffering greatly under public and regulatory scrutiny. Lawsuits would be happening all over. But despite making such a huge accusation against microsoft, you recoil when one of us, with no other provided info to go on, expresses concern over the legitimacy of the software keys, even after stating you got them from "a buddy of mine".
Conclusion:
1. Please stop being nasty to people taking the time out of their day to respond to a question you asked. Give us actual details so we don't fall to assuming the worst.
2. There's almost no chance Windows is doing what you accused it of doing given that no one else is having a similar issue and it's somehow affecting only one type of file. Logic doesn't stand to accuse broad when the scope is so narrow.
3. "OK Boomer" - At MINIMUM, get some better insults, make it worth it if you're gonna get banned for rude behavior.
4. Always run an antivirus, even if it's just windows defender. Should my hard drive fail randomly? No, but it COULD. So I have a backup. Should you get a random virus? No, but you COULD, so be safe and use defender, it's free and built in taking up space anyways.
5. From your conclusion it seems you had viruses deleting your stuff. Refer to 4
6. Cool down. I know to you this is a bunch of time and effort you put into your game, but this isn't personal to us, we weren't there. This is a non issue for us, we're just trying to be nice and help, getting upset by our responses is rude to the people helping and doesn't help you get any further to getting the problem solved. I love the community we have on here as many of us are very chill and willing to help even when it doesn't affect us. In return be nice and calm down. If you disagree with our guesses, fine, just ignore it, but there's no reason to get heated about it.

tatte got a reaction from flametwist in Windows 10 deleted my Fallout 4 200 hour game saves and deleted essential software files so that my program icons on my desktop turn into blank icons
Well there's your problem. Legitimacy of the activation keys is completely irrelevant if you're downloading the actual game files from third party sources. Either there'll soon be a massive story about newest Windows update deleting user files (again), or you have fucked up your system yourself. There's no conspiracy, your Windows is not unique nor sentient, and you're not being targeted by Microsoft. If you're confident about your own actions, report the issue to Microsoft and wait.
We don't care about your pirated games, but no one has magical fingers they can just snap your problems away with. The less you tell, the less anyone is able to help. Albeit the obvious tip would be that anything that requires you to disable your antivirus is rather obviously malicious, so if I were you I'd start there.
And please wear a mask in public. 🙂

tatte got a reaction from da na in Are those LOT OF RANDOM STEAM KEY any good
I quit wasting my money on those when "10 Random Steam Keys" had the same games twice in a row (same games, different keys, separate purchases), and the seller figured holding onto 2.99€ was worth it to lose a customer with a history going back five years. PayPal naturally refunded me regardless. Scammers scam, it's easy to forget that when you are normally one of the benefiting parties.
There are legitimate alternatives. IndieGala rotates cheap variably sized bundles of indie games. Might not seem as exciting/fun, but it's ultimately equivalent experience just with the option to look the games up beforehand. (They seem to have a couple of hentai bundles right now, if that seems questionable rest assured they cater wide range of themes, for example I got 16 (out of at least 20 unique) VR bundles back when I still had an interest in amassing random games.)
If you're considering those random lots because they're advertising specific games you may get from them: don't. It's either an outright scam or pointless gamble. As long as you expect a pile of games that at most entertain you for 5-15 minutes each, you at least won't be cheating yourself. But please, get your keys from reputable sources.

tatte got a reaction from PlayStation 2 in Who still has an xbox 360
Eleven and a half years later, yes, still have mine. Plugged in and ready to go. 360 apps need more love, but otherwise the platform is still great. Thanks to GwG it keeps getting better (since you get to keep the games without active sub). Guide (in-game system menu) was perfection (and now that Xbone no longer has Snap, 360 gets additional points).
I have my original phat, a replacement twin, and an S just in case. My daily has an upgraded 500GB drive that frankly sounds like it's dying. Once it dies I'll replace it with an original 60GB drive for BC (I did a bad job upgrading the drive) and just get a bigger external drive (I currently have 1TB, I think I want 3TB just so I never need to think about space again).
...I mostly play Minecraft. 4J did amazing work, and I want those achievements.

tatte got a reaction from IcarusLSC in Minecraft NFA accounts please explain.
Minecraft's EULA forbids all of this. The only legal way to get an account is to buy one yourself. That's the end of it, stop being delusional. The obvious risk is that you may lose your illegal account at any time (and any money you have put in), and additional risks depend on just how shady site you manage to find. You do realize that they won't have any more respect for your information than they have for anyone else's?
If you start openly distributing illegal copies, you start attracting more serious consequences. That crap is one step worse than plain piracy, as you're trading tangible, already paid for property rather than just digital copies you made yourself.
