Underi got a reaction from Mark Kaine in RX 7600 crashing, is this normal for AMD?
Hey. Decided to upgrade after 9 long years with my dear GTX 970. It was clearly nearing the end of it's life with problems OC'ing and modern triple-A games not running at 60fps even on the lowest of settings. The RX 7600 seemed like a great upgrade option but I'm starting to regret it.

I thought the meme about AMD drivers being dogwater and constant crashes and issues were just fanboys flaming and unfounded in general. Surely it can't be THAT bad? Well, I got the card three days ago and honestly it's starting to be too much. It happens AT LEAST daily, the drivers crashing, the screen going blank. If not during almost every game session. It doesn't matter if it's something lightweight like League or Cyberpunk 2077, it can and probably will crash. I'm talking like 5-15 times a day. Sometimes even when I'm just watching a youtube video. Is this really "normal" for an AMD card or is it just that new or is the card faulty? I honestly don't remember having any issues ever with my 970 unless I was overclocking.

Just watched steve's video on the cooler and wow I'm kind of regretting ever buying the NH-D15. And here I thought Noctua was the best money could buy. I'm honestly so sick of the metal-wire-trying-to-desperately-hold-fans-yet-sagging type of install that many manufacturers do, including noctua.

I'll be looking into buying this just because the fans have been installed infinitely better. No more trying to have the fans stay in place. This thing seems perfect for the money. And it's cheaper than the noctua too. How has there been ZERO innovation from noctua in the last, what, 10 years now despite being hailed the best of the best in computer air cooling by practically everyone. Linus should instead do a deepcool collab on the screwdriver.

Well, there really seems to be something wrong with the card. It's still crashing even when just listening to youtube browsing steam store. Also seeing artifacts just before the screen would go black. I'll most likely be returning this card and paying 70€ more for a 6700 XT.

I did uninstall nvidia drivers with DDU before installing the new card but not since.
Not sure, just went on AMD site and downloaded one for the 7600. Says "Adrenalin Edition for Radeon™ RX 7600"

Advertisers can't choose which video their ads show up. Probably age, sex, interests, region are some of the common ones you should be able to choose.

Underi got a reaction from Radium_Angel in For those of you who have parts laying about unused...
Not much I guess, but all of the parts unused are very old and low-end so it would be good for basic browsing at most. I have two late 2000s GPUs, some cases, fans, coolers, PSUs. Few dying HDDs with broken sectors, so yeah, pretty much just need a motherboard, RAM and a processor but you wouldn't be doing anything but check your email with it.

Wouldn't be worth the hassle selling these for a couple of euros, my time is worth than what I would get from making the ads and meeting buyers etc, so it's all just sitting in the attic in case I would need a temporary hard drive or other spare parts.

OpenCV was quite fun on python, had a project for a medical company to have the program detect if there were pills in a pill dispenser and know if people with dementia had taken their medication. It was done in under a month too. I think OpenCV would be a great idea.

Thanks a lot for the explanation. I’ll be going with ZFS since I’ll likely be adding more drives to the system as it fills up.

Definitely similar. I've played Civ V and I understand where you come from, but it's not quite what I'm looking for. I was thinking of a more RPG kinda game with dialogue and all. Still a great game though.
I've actually been looking at this game and DA:O. I never got around to buy either one since a lot of people seem to be divided between Origins and Inquisition. I'll have to take a look again.

Checked it out, looks definitely interesting. Might be just what I'm looking for. I'll have to find a good deal since I can't buy it right now.

Xeons generally have poor single thread performance especially compared to traditional Intel desktop CPUs. Older titles like LoL and Minecraft cant properly utilize multiple cores so single thread performance is more important.

Underi got a reaction from CYBR_GHST in So I have an RGB question...
Does your motherboard have RGB headers? Wouldn't general 5050 RGB strips work? I have a bit more expensive akasa ones with magnets so it easily sticks to my PC's metal case but any chinese 5050 strips will most likely work.

You could get a bunch of RGB strips and two Y-splitters and a bit of extension cables to route the RGB from your motherboard to the case strips and then outside the case and from there to the monitor and the desk using the second y-splitter. Maybe not the cleanest out there but it'd be in sync.

Buying strips seperately and not in bulk is a bit expensive but would be easiest for the kind of setup that I talked about.

Underi got a reaction from Ashley MLP Fangirl in Why does Linus think that a 9 - 8 year old laptop is bad compared to a similar desktop?
Might as well throw my experiences here.
I've owned only 4 laptops in my life, so it might be a bit small sample size, but two of those 4 laptops have failed, both of them had a dedicated GPU, and both had the GPU die. It also most likely was due to high temperatures, in both cases. Even after changing thermal paste and cleaning the fan and the heatsink, both of them would constantly be at ~80C idle and sound like jet engines.
One was an Asus laptop from 2009, the other a high-end HP laptop from 2014.

The two that have survived are a Lenovo laptop with a Celeron CPU and iGPU and an Asus laptop with an i3 and iGPU, from 2014 and 2018 respectively. Since I don't have any experiences with newer laptops running a dedicated GPU, I won't say anything about that but if you ask me the laptops from early 2010s and late 2000s definitely are more likely to die if they do have a dedicated GPU, since they're so inefficient and run at high temperatures.

Lol I tried to but it's on there really good. I have to get some 99% isopropyl alcohol and try again some day. It works fine for now, so I'll just keep it like this for a few months at least.

Yep, we had no idea either and couldn't refund because we had played for so long already. You can play side-quests together but story quests (which introduce the new monsters) can't be played together for the first time. People have complained about it for 2 years and the devs haven't done anything about it so I don't know if it's intentional or not.

Underi got a reaction from GreyestGoat in Monster Hunter World is pretty good!
I liked it a lot, but I bought it to play with a friend. Turns out the game is unplayable for us. There's a dumb mechanic that you can't play the story quests together unless one of you has done the quest already. So what happens is that both of us simply have to play seperately the same fucking quest. Which is insanely idiotic, because the game is a co-op game that you're supposed to play with multiple people. Why can't you progress the story together? We played for 4 hours straight and just dropped it since the co-op had been implemented so badly.
