  1. After sometime using my new system I am very pleased with the performance. I had some concerns however those have gone out the window! I play a lot online games and previously I had only been able to play on low settings at 1080p or 720p for some games. After much debate I settled on the following build and I will share my results so that others may benefit. My plan was to be able to play any game I wanted on at least medium settings at 1080p. Board: ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. H110M-A/M.2 Memory: Kingston 8GB - 1x8GB CPU: i3-6100 PSU: Seasonic 550w Fully Modular GPU: Radeon (TM) RX 470 Monitor: ASUS VP278 SSD: KINGSTON SUV400S37120G HDD: 1TB Hitachi HDS721010CLA332 OS: Windows 10 Pro Case: DEEPCOOL TESSERACT SW I am pleased to say that at 4K resolution most of my games still run at 60fps+ even on high and ultra setting. At 1080p I have had no issues with ultra settings at all and can maintain 55-65 fps no problem even on demanding games. Paladins runs at 4K on max settings 60fps + War Thunder 1080p and 4K Max and High settings - 60+ and 40+ fps respectively. Hitman max setting 1080p 60+ fps The same follows will all other games as well. However if you want to multitask please get the i5-6600k - This is not an issue for me as I do very little multitasking on this PC. I hope this helps someone, thank you!

  4. I am very curious to see just how big a difference this system will make over my current system!
  5. I think I did pretty well I poured over the forums and I think I have gotten the best parts for the money for me.
  6. Its been 8 years since i had a computer that i built for me! I'm excited!
  7. So I ordered the parts for building of two new computers. 8. Hey guys, I am really struggling with what GPU to buy vs spending money elsewhere in my build. I just thought I would give some more details of my needs and wants. After really pouring over the reviews and builds on the forums. I believe I have come to a good compromise for me. I have added a much better monitor than my very very old 24 inch 1080p monitor. I have changed the 1TB storage drive to a different brand. I have went with the 1050 ti as I really feel for my needs it is the best option. Also went with the i5 6600k and a Water cooling system. Allow me to give you a rundown of my current system for comparison. MOBO - Intel DP43BF CPU - Xeon 3220 G0 2.4GHz RAM - 6GB DDR3 533Mhz HDD - 1 TB - About 5 years old SSD - 120GB - Less than 2 weeks old GPU - Nvidia GT 430 - 6 years old, I bought it new when it was first released This system has served me very well and still works flawlessly every day. The games I play are set to low settings and 720p and it plays them just fine. However, I believe given the great experience I have had over the years with Nvidia cards I am reluctant to change to an AMD GPU. I also feel that the build I have gives me a nice cushion for upgrading in the future should my needs change, I understand the mentality of buying the best GPU that one can. However with the tech changing on a yearly bases, I see no point in spending a great deal of money on a GPU that I will certainly never utilize to its potential. If I have a flaw in my thinking please correct me. Below is a link to the build I have tweaked slightly. Also, a big thank you to everyone who has helped me thus far in making this decision. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/2GsHqk
  9. Makes sense, so I will go with a standard 1TB drive then!
  10. Since I mainly play online would those games even benefit from the hybrid or ssd?
  11. Thank you for the advice, I believe the increased performance is worth it as the hybrid drive is where my games and programs will live. My current setup is a 120GB SSD with the OS on it and a standard 1 TB HDD but the HDD is aging and I don't trust it at all. Looking at reviews and youtubers the hybrid seems worth the cost. However, I have no real world experience with a hybrid drive. Advice is welcome, perhaps a RAID 5 of 1 TB HDD's would be a good path for mass storage. This is still well under my budget. https://pcpartpicker.com/user/pistol22cal/saved/#view=mJYNGX
  12. I do quite a bit of large file archiving and need the RAM for compression. My current rig has 8GB and its not enough. The vendor is not who I will be buying from this is just a parts list.
  13. Ahhhh yes I see that thank you! https://pcpartpicker.com/list/WZm6NN
  14. The increased cost over the 1050 ti does equal more performance and seems worth the cost, I will be going with the 470 thank you. Here is what I have come up with : https://pcpartpicker.com/list/bzLzXH
  15. When I look at the reviews for the rx 480 and the 1050 ti the rx 480 is better I agree but it's so much more than what I foresee needing. I have ran all my current games on low setting with a GT 430 and it plays them all just fine. I can't see speeding the money, perhaps I am missing something or need persuading.
