Metallus97 got a reaction from Entropy. in Light Video Editing Machine for my mom
I have build 5 pcs with that board. Everything works perfectly.
His mom WONT want to OC and fiddle around with the BIOS. For normal operation: Update to latest version and done

Metallus97 reacted to LukeSavenije in PSU FAN upgrade - any reasons not to do it??
for all that it's worth... please don't try swapping a PSU fan
there are so many thing considered with it, that you need the specific fan in it or better in ways most consumer fans would look as pure garbage
and for noise it won't make any difference, since the controller behind it will still do the same
it's for the better to just buy a new PSU at that point

Metallus97 got a reaction from 5x5 in 5700 vs 2060 ko ultra
Y E S
Get a 5700 Red Dragon or Pulse superb cards for the $$

Metallus97 reacted to 5x5 in 5700 vs 2060 ko ultra
The 5700 hands down. It's 2060 Super performance for 2060 money. The equivalent to the KO is the 5600 XT. Not to mention the KO cooler is shit. The card runs hot and loud

Metallus97 got a reaction from zeli_666 in What should I do first ?
SSD will make even this PC feel like its on nitro
To state again what was already said here:
PSU and AFTER this Mobo/CPU/RAM.
I know spending on a new PSU wont give you any performance BUT will be guaranteed stable with the modern chips and not be a fire risk.
GPU is perfectly fine but overpowered for the rest of the system

Metallus97 got a reaction from AbhinavG in Help for buying memory for ryzen 1600 AF
To be honest I never look at QVL... and never had problems. Just buy whats proven to work on the platform and form a decent brand. Make sure your BIOS is up to date, enable XMP and done

Metallus97 reacted to The_russian in What should I do first ?
The first thing you should do is clean your computer, there's a lot of dust buildup in there. After that, I agree with the others an SSD for the OS will be a huge improvement.

An SSD, then save up for a CPU/motherboard/RAM.

Metallus97 reacted to Fasauceome in 4770k @ 45* Idle - To hot?
since it's well within safe parameters, only the load temps matter.
-
Metallus97 got a reaction from Fasauceome in Ram Recommendation
Technically this is a OC. You have to enable the XMP profile in BIOS. That will load optimized timings form the RAM and work just fine. Outside of spec but fine!
I am also running a 3900x wich is rated for 3200Mhz at 3800 without any problems. Just enabled the option in BIOS.

Metallus97 reacted to Jurrunio in Help for buying memory for ryzen 1600 AF
All 3200MHz CL16 kit models are the same when you peel away their heatsinks. No reason only to focus on these two just because more people bought them. 3000MHz could be even cheaper without noticeable performance delta
As for board support, that's also something you can ignore. What stops memory from running at their rated apeed is not the kit (was the case when Ryzen was first launched, not now) nor the board's capability, but the memory controller.inside the CPU. A better board could potentially compensate for that a bit, but they are expensive and that ruins everything.
I.e. If 3200MHz doesnt work, force a lower frequency like 2933. Kit model does not matter

Metallus97 got a reaction from SavageNeo in Plan build for a Designer/Art Director
swap that tomahawk for a A pro max -> little bit beter VRM cooling but less bling bling but cheaper
RAM: yes
PSU: no! Thats only a B+ unit on our list. For productivity idd get something A. However yes you will be able to find something cheaoer than the Thermaltake. maybe the newer CX model from Corsair?
GPU: As much as I am an AMD fan she might benefit from CUDA
Case: yes
CPU: Step the GPU down and the CPU up to a 3700x or maybe a 2700x (if you can find a sweet deal on in)

Metallus97 got a reaction from Gohardgrandpa in What type of 5600xt should I get?
Truth. But sadly they dont make AMD. But Saphire is the "EVGA of AMD" in my book.

it beats the intel one in gaming too (that is what i am talking about)

That's where threadripper comes in. Same price but you just get more of well everything.
-
Metallus97 got a reaction from jaslion in Building Gaming/Working PC
So then go TR. About the same price but faster, less power usage, PCIe 4.0 ...
3970x is faster at roughly the same price and LESS power usage

Metallus97 got a reaction from jaslion in Building Gaming/Working PC
For what tasks will this PC be used:
In 99% of the cases I would honestly recommend selling that board and going TR.
PSU: yeha depends on the GPU but could be ok

Metallus97 got a reaction from Stevee in Need advice wether or not buy a Radeon RX 5700 XT
I have one and its PERFECT! The driver issues and all this shit has been resolved. Go for it. Its NICE price/perf
I reccoemnd the Nitro Pulse or RedDevil/Dragon models

Metallus97 reacted to boggy77 in Need advice wether or not buy a Radeon RX 5700 XT
in terms of drivers, they were mostly fixed for the 5700xt, so there are much fewer problems like stuttering and crashing.
in terms of bad thermals, there are a few models you should avoid, like the asus tuf and the thicc ii and the evoke, but the rest are fine.
