One of my machines has a R5 1600x. It's worth finding a 4790k, it's much better.

The only real upgrade is the Ryzen 5 1600, but IMO you should consider getting a used 4770(K)/4790(K) instead because you can keep your current Motherboard/RAM.

If AE prefered clock speed then 7700k would be better. But why not 8700k? It got better ipc.
core count isn't everything, but this is a fun way to use the extra cores.

I'm in the boat of having never been the slightest bit upset towards thumbnails or video titles. I've been a die hard fan for years, having bought 3 shirts, funded the new office, had an LTT wallpaper for years, and watched every last video in the process, happily. Hell I even built my latest PC around my LTT NFF12. You guys are everything to me and I love watching your videos!

I just wanted to share my recent experience here as it may be useful to someone. I recently replaced my GTX 760 with a 970. I have a 4 monitor setup. The website for the card shows different ways to run 4 monitors.
I was using one dvi-d, hdmi, and two display port with the 760. I hooked up the new card, installed the drivers and was only getting 3 monitors. Even with things wired as shown on their website config. I ordered a dvi-i to dvi-D/VGA adapter. I was still trying to run the second DVI-I to D. Still nothing. So I tried VGA from the DVI-I. Success.
Long story short, I had to run DVI-I to VGA adapter to get the 4th monitor working again. Also, you'll need to use the Nvidia control panel and have it re-detect to find it and switch that monitor to analog.
I hope this helps someone.
