  1. Earlier today I was changing the thermal paste on my GPU because of its alarmingly high temps that I hadn´t noticed until just the other day (you can probably even find a post in the graphics cards section of me asking for help today). Once I (probably successfully) did so, I tried fixing my cable management, which was another thing I intended to do today. I unplugged everyhting, ran some of the cables through the back, plugged everything in again and plugged my computer into the wall. At which point it didn´t post. Note that it was working just fine before I started work on both of my "projects". My first instinct was "oh fuck, I killed the graphics card". But I took it out and plugged the hdmi cable into the motherboard and the problem persisted. After that I was kind of shooting in the dark. I unplugged the HDD and that didn´t seem to do anything either. I thought about taking out the CPU, but I quickly realized that if the CPU was the problem the motherboard would have probably told me. After that I went to ask to the forum and noticed the pinned post about no post or not powering on. I went through all of the steps and it seemed hopeless, but number 12 actually worked for me. Removing the GPU and one RAM stick did the trick. However, I am unsure as to what to do now. I can´t test any of the components I removed in other computers, I don´t have any. Also, what does this mean? Is one of my RAM sticks broken? Or is it the slot? Thanks in advance.
  2. Thanks so much, i was worried about damaging it for pushing too hard but you turned out to be right.
  3. I was changing the thermal compound on my HD7870 because I recently realized it was running very hot (>90º). I did it, but now the 4 screws on the back wont fit because their little threads won´t fit. Is there something I can do about this? Can I just use different screws? Because that would save me a lot of headaches. Thanks in advance.
  4. So I bought a new case for a mix and match new and used parts, and It comes with 2 USB 3.0 frontal ports and just 1 Big connector. My mobo (biostar g41d3+) comes with 2 smaller USB connectors. Is there an adapter for this?
  5. Ok, thanks, I'll look for something else taking into account what you and these other people told me. Thanks a ton!
  6. Ok, anyways, I'll link the english page http://www.ebay.com/itm/172565673990?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
  7. Oh, sorry, I forgot to mention, I have a DDR3 mobo. It says unbuffered right there doesn't it?
  8. So I have an old Q6600 system and I was upgrading it to make it a gaming PC. I was looking for RAM through ebay and I came across this. http://www.ebay.es/itm/172565673990?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Would it work? What should I check for compatibility next time? Thanks a ton.
  9. I bought a Dell optiplex 760 sff mobo off of eBay for like 20 bucks Andrés i tried to fit It in my micro atx case. Surprise, it doesn't fit. Does somebody know exactly what ff It IS? (Atx, micro atx...)
  10. Ok, I'll try that, thanks
  11. Of course I already flipped the switch, but thanks anyway haha. I'll try another cable too, thats a good idea.
  12. I'm dumb, but not that dumb
  13. It's from a Spanish brand called Tacens (yes, I am Spanish). They're a reliable brand. I'll check again with the 300w one and make sure It's not the mobo. Thanks.
  14. I've got an old lga 775 mobo and i have used a new 700w psu with it and it won't post. It does post with my old 300w one (last time I checked) so, why doesn't it post? I'm thinking maybe the molex connector on the new one wasn't meant to be on the mobo? Can someone help?
  15. I'm guessing you're talking about the one that Unexas gave me, yeah, looking at it again, it is. I should be fine with something around 500w.
