  1. Purchase 15k rpm sas drives and a lsi raid controller to raid 0 the SAS drives. *8 x 600gb drives gives you 4.6gb of capacity at the speed of 1.6gbs. Which is basically a M.2 SSD. But the think is that the SAS drives last FOREVER almost and will outlive the m.2 by 6 times.
  2. I am trying to decide between a SSD or SAS Drive for a project. Intel 2.5" SATA 6G 400GB SSD DC S3700 Series (total 420k IOPS) (120$ USD) or Seagate Cheetah 15K.7 ST3600057SS 600GB 15000 RPM 16MB Cache SAS 6Gb/s 3.5" Internal Enterprise Hard Drive (cant find info) ( 60$ USD ) Its hard to find information on the SAS Drives as there is so many companies. I plan to put them in multiple raid 0 to use writes and plan to write about 500TB of data in the next 2 months. I am building a server on an X99 motherboard with a e5- 2699 intel CPU Any suggestions?
  3. Did you do the RMA? I am having the same issue. However not with idle problems. Just with my gpu completly crashing my computer when i run any big game.
  4. I have a msi RTX 2070 super gaming x trio I have tried this GPU with my previous motherboard x99 with a i7 5820k CPU and it did the same thing. I now have a brand new x570 asus prime motherboard with a ryzen 5 3600x with watercooler. Every time i start a game, after about 2 mins my screen goes black, disconnects, and all the fans in my system go max speed intill i power down the computer. I am pretty sure this is a GPU problem. I have messed with the afterburner for sometime, at some point it works on other games and then it doesn't. I can not boost the power limit more than 111% or temp more than 88C on afterburner, i tried to underclock the GPU and i tried to also boost the Voltage at stock Memory and Core settings, and it still crashes. At first when i kinda fixed it on my last computer i was boosted the power limit and then the power limit wouldn't be reached, YES THIS GPU REACHES THE POWER LIMIT ON STOCK SETTINGS. I have no idea why, but it does. This GPU requires an extra 4 pin connect FYI. It does the same thing on stock settings, its why i decided to try afterburner hoping it would fix the problem. I know these parts are only 4 months old, so i cant find any support on this. I can not play Call of Duty Currently. Would this be a pcu problem? I have an EVGA 850 Wattz Sometimes it goes a black screen and the sound and even my discord chat still works, when i can still talk to people. Othertimes, my fans go to max speed and the screen eother freezes or goes black. Even when i turn off my computer, my monitor still displays my frozen screen.
  5. My old i7 5820k is broken, need a mobo and i'd rather just upgrade to something else
  6. I am building a new pc and i need either amd or intel and i don't know much about the new generation. I do have a super powerful graphics card. I can play 70fps at 4k on Rainbow seige and 2k at 120fps on my old 6 core i7 5820k cpu
  7. Okay i am done dealing with my x99 motherboard. I need to either gamble and buy a $160 (cheapest) x99 Mobo, or just spend around $400 to get a new CPU and Mobo. The x99 generation is garbage and im not putting anymore money into this. What do you guys recommend? I am okay with AMD, even though i'm preferring an Intel. * I have a water cooler than is good for (Corsair Hydro Series H100i V2 Extreme) block: Intel LGA 2066 / 2011-v3 / 2011 / 1366 / 115xblock: AMD Socket AM4 / AM3 / AM2 / FM2 / FM1 * Also, I have a 32gb G.skillz Memory Model F4-3200C16Q-32GVK Its a Dou channel Ram sticks. (4x8gb) * evga 850 watt PSU * RTX 2070 super I'd use the computer for some artwork, maybe streaming, mostly gaming. Anyone have a good build to recommend?
  8. Okay so I found out my new msi rtx 2070 super gaming x trio was hitting its power limit. I also had my pch voltage not at 1.05 but at 1.06. Now I dont know why its hitting power limit and throttling at just stock speeds. Out of the box this gpu is doing 2000mhz without me doing anything... I turned the power limited to the max msi afterburner let's me and its 111% I cant go any further and already when I max out my settings in game my power limit is reached.
  9. I have a 32gb set of 4(8gb each) Ram sticks from G.skillz. Memory Model F4-3200C16Q-32GVK I've had ram boot problems with my x99 Gigabyte Ultra Gaming rev 1.0 Motherboard for 2 years. I followed the memory module input slots from the manual. Basically my computer will run stable with 8gb of Ram, But once i get the Windows to run either 16gb 24gb or 32gb. My computer instantly power shuts down. I have a water cooler and i watch the temps off everything (ram, cpu, gpu and my psu is not hot at all) I have a 850 eva that i tested on another pc and it works. My cpu is 45c when the power is lost, and my gpu is 50c when the power is lost. I have to run my Ram sticks at 1.35v or my mobo won't even boot into windows. The mhz cant be more than 2800mhz or it won't boot even at 1.35volts. Yes i tried all types of volts and mhz. The ram sticks get ot about 41c, im not sure if thats too high or what. Every stick of Ram works when its single. Like i said, if i have 2 or more sticks installed, the PC with run for 10 mins before i have to unplug them to run it again. Yes, this set of Ram sticks is on the QVL for the Mobo. Has anyone had this type of problem before?
  10. I FIGURED IT OUT. I NEEDED TO BOOST THE DDR (RAM) VOLTAGE FOR THIS MOTHERBOARD TO REGISTER THE RAM. THERE WASN'T ENOUGH POWER. I'M RUNNING 1.3VOLTS ON 2600MHZ! ANYTHING LESS AND MY MOTHERBOARD RAM DOESN'T EVEN HAVE ENOUGH POWER TO GET TO BIOS!
  12. Yeah I've done that 30 times trying to co configure this thing.
  13. I have a gigabyte x99 ultra gaming rev 1.0. G.skills 4x8 32gb 3200mgz 850 watt evga It's been bad since I first got it 3 years ago. I've been having ram issues since day 1. Even with the QVL ram, my mobo wont boot with more than 2 ram sticks in it. It fails to even get into bios on it's own without a hard drive or data plugged it. I need to mash delete or it will reboot itself, naturally it used to go to bios. Now I has no idea what to do. I'm almost positive it's either ram or the mobo that's the problem. But at one time it did actually run with all 4 sticks! The ram is fine, the bios detects every stick when its singly installed But it's when pairing the ram that makes the computer not boot. I used the manufacture's model set up and it doesnt work. I requested another RMA for the third time! Most x99 mobos have bad reviews, and most of the reviews are about the ram failing. When I try to boot something, it will load into the gigabyte logo screen, spin the dotted circle for 5 seconds, then it freezes and the logo turns dimmer... and my keyboard rag shuts off, telling me basically that the computer is entirely frozen and USBs have disconnected. It also does the same thing when I try to load a ESU windows 10 flash drive to install windows on my SSD. I almost dont even want to search for another x99 mobo and spend more money, I feel like I should just buy a different CPU and mobo and try to sell my cpu $(100) as is. Does anyone gave a solution? It gets frozen here.. "UPDATE" I FIGURED IT OUT.
  14. SEE THE DIFFERENCE? Its not like my last card, there is an extra 2 pins added to the left side. If I dont fill the pins, then the screen says "please shut down and insert correct pic cables"
  15. What about fried CPU pins? My cpu pump pins do not work. I even told them that, and they sent it back to me without fixing it. They claimed "nothing wrong".
  16. The Cheapest x99 Mobo is $300. Unless i find a pre-owned mobo for less, which is awful, because who sells a mobo pre-owned if not for it having an issue... They claim they send me a working Mobo, even though my cpu pump pins are fried. I am using a cpu fan pin right now. Last time i told them the pins didn't work, and they sent it back to me saying nothing is wrong, and it was the same.... Of course they don't want to send me a good mobo, they would lose money. But, this is the third RMA. Literally either this mobo is all messed up, or every X99 mobo is messed up. I'm done with this mobo, its faulty all around.
  17. I have a gigabyte ultra gaming rev 1.0 X99 lga 2011-3 mother board. Its had problems since I first got it in 2016. It worked for sometime with the old G.Skill ram I had. However, I always got some blue screen failures and it had been getting worse. Short story, I built another PC and used that for over a year, till I sold in last week. Now I got a 4x8gb kit that is on the CVL list of memory support for this MOBO, and it wont boot. I have tried everything. I have sent this motherboard for repairs 2 times before and one time they fixed something (bios issue) and the other time that said nothing was wrong. Bottom story is, I dont want this freaking mobo back. I want a brand new refurbished or something. Its been a pain forever. I've been searching online and it seems that all the x99 mobos have bad reviews, people always complaing about failures, specifically about the RAM support for these x99 mobos. Basically, only 1 stick will work. If I install 2 or more, I can not even get into the bios. (Yes, I have tried all 6 current bios patches) Nothing works. I can't use a esu-USB file to boot windows, and when I plug my SSD in, I keep going to a loading circle screen and it freezes. At this point, I just want something that will accept my ram, gpu, and that's all. I just want it to work reliably! I have requested RMA for the Ram sticks and the MoBo. Since the Ram worked on my other computer, I have a feeling its not the ram sticks. HOWEVER, I read a reddit post from 3 years ago about someone who had this mobo, and it fried 6 of his Ram sticks... https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.reddit.com/r/gigabytegaming/comments/4tybj2/problems_with_gax99ultra_gaming/ It freezes mid circle rotation at this screen everytime! How do I get gigabyte to get me a different mobo, or a new one?
  18. They were both plugged in the "VGA" ports on my Power Supply. Not the CPU port.
  19. Actually my rtx has a total of 16 pins, 2x4 each side. The stock founders editons have one 2x3 slot and one 2x4 slot (14 pins). I'm assuming my card has an extra 2 pins because it has 3 fans to power on...
  20. So I just got a new graphics card. It's the msi rtx 2070 super gaming x trio. I was waiting 2 months for these to get in stock, and 10 mins after they did, they went out of stock. It's a kool graphica card. Anyways, I think I'm having issues. I dont really have a cable to plug all the connectors in. My standard VGA cable has only 14 input pins, instead of 16. Like it was for the my older 1070 graphics card. I dont know if I doing it wrong, but to get a connector I'm using a 8 pin type 4 generic cable that plugs into the CPU and the other end of the cable has a split that turns into 2x4/2x4 ends. My worry is, that it's not enough power, because the end of the cable that plugs into the CPU actually only has 7 slots instead of 8, because one of the holes, has no metal Input to plug Into. Is this okay? The bottom photo is me actually connecting two entirely separate cables to the graphics card, and it actually worked! But I really dont want to destroy this brand new $600 card.
  21. Motherboard: Gigabyte x99 ultra gaming rev 1.0 "2011-3" ( fa6 bios ) Cpu: HASWELL-E Intel i7- 5820k Ram: G.SKILL TridentZ Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) Memory Model F4-3200C16D-16GTZB SSD: samsung 500gb evo PCU: Cossair RM850x watt Cooler: dual fan Cossair water pump Graphics card: Msi GTX 1070 So 3 months ago i had water damage in my basement, it was near my computer. My computer was on the ground with the carpet soaked. However my computer worked fine 3 months after it happened. Now last week my computer turned on, beeped and than didnt post. Today it completely refuses to stay turned on for more than 8 secs, and it turns off and repeats. I have tried brand new memory sticks and it didn't change anything. Tried clearing he CMOSI don't visibly see any dry water marks inside ( looking through the air holes). I tried unplugging everything and everything works, it just wont work for more than 5 seconds. This computer is only 6 months old, and i built it myself, it worked just fine for all that time till 1 week ago. I looked up the beep codes for my Motherboard and it told me that it was memory failure, and then when the computer started to beep continuously, it surely was memory failure. I think i've also noticed the "Cosair" logo on the water pump is not its brightest. Whenever the computer shuts off on its own, the Logo blinks brighter and than darker. Could it be a bad PSU?
  22. I'm just going off of the supported list of RAM Gigabyte has offered. Since the last RAM i installed was not on the supported list, but it worked... for 5 months till now the computer won't post. Its giving me memory failure beeps. Its am x99 Motherboard. I'm assuming that is why it requires expensive parts. This build costed me $2,100
  23. For my motherboard, the support memory list are full of very expensive models. There isn't a lot that are supported either, i have looked at all the variation of supported 3200mghz kits and they are all 500$ and above, you cant just purchase 1 stick either. Its like most of the supported kits are all 2 sticks or more, and more sticks actually make the cost higher. 1x8gb = 200$ 2x4Gb = 250$ Also, i doubt that there isn't a whole lot of differences in Frames, either way. Nobody can tell the difference between 90fps and 88fps. Atleast i know i won't. Also, 16gb of 3200mghz ram is almost the same price as 2400mghz of 32gb... at least for the models that are supported, which is why i made this post, because the price isn't actually that far apart.
