  1. I compare the prices using tweakers.net , currently the best websites seem to be Mobiel.nl and belsimpel.nl
  2. Hi guys, I am looking to buy a new phone because my current xiaomi mi 5s is starting to have issues and currently it is not capable of making any calls without using headphones. I am not bound to any budget, but since I am a student I would like to not waste money because I will have to pay it back at some point. (no interest on my loans though, so that is nice.) I woud prefer to keep it between 300-500 euros. I live in the Netherlands. Xiaomi has some really good deals, but I don't really like their software. So I would prefer not to buy a xiaomi unless it is a really good deal. Things I like OLED screen more than 4000 mAh battery decent CPU and RAM Nice camera Things I don't like Big phones. not weight, but mostly height. software that contains a lot of trash Which one of these phones would you recommend, or do you know a better deal in this price range?
  3. I don't open this forum very often, so you should probably ask other people if this one comment doesn't solve it, but here we go: Check if you have viruses, but having multiple anti-virus programs can also decrease performance. Are the drivers and windows itself installed properly? If you can't figure it out, make a new thread, but post a complete list of important PC components (preferabbly in text, not a bunch of pictures), and define what 'slow' means. What game/program, how low is the fps? what resolution are you playing in? If you provide this information in an orderly manner, it will be easier for people to help you.
  4. Hi guys, I am planning on building a computer case from wood and copper wire. (I have drawn it in inventor, a program from Autodesk that our university uses to teach us CAD. I will add a screenshot and the file if it is small enough) I would like the case to be mostly open, with the components mounted on parts of an old PC case that I will cut in pieces. The bottom of the case will be a thick piece of wood. I am worried about all of the components being exposed. The PC is already old (4 years) and was never very expensive (800 euro) but since I am a student now I don't have any plans to replace it soon. I think that a cage of copper wires around the components would protect me from sticking my fingers in the fans, and mostly protect the PC from ESD (think loose clothing and such, a friend of mine killed his PC with his bathrobe) Do you think I should add the copper wires or not? I am also considering to use copper wires instead of the piece of wood to hold the motherboard mounting bracket in the center of the build. 5. did this problem develop recently? I suspect it is a software problem. It is possible for hardware to gradually slow down, but if it is broken it probably wouldn't work at all.
  6. My mom really doesn't know or care enough about phones to give such an in-depth review :). She had some low-budget samsung, I think it was between five and seven years old. It is dieing because the storage has been full for so long that I suspect it has reached te end of its life.
  7. thanks for your help, I couldn't find better phones at this price range myself. It really surprises me how strong Xiaomi is in the Dutch market right now, a few years ago they were unheard of.
  8. a few common ones are belsimpel.nl coolblue.nl mediamarkt.nl and bol.com pretty much all common phones are sold here, and if you can just point me in the right direction I can figure out myself which shop is best to buy from.
  9. I live in the netherlans. My mom probably doesn't intend to spend more than 100-120 euros, that is why I offered my phone in the first place. But for a new phone I would recommend her to spend around 200 euro's. That should be enough because she really doesn't do much besides WhatsApp, email and some pictures and video's.
  10. okay about the family member in need stuf: my mother can afford an expensive phone. She has way more money than me. She doesn't want an expensive phone because she thinks it is stupid. Therefore I think it is reasonable if I can sell her a second hand phone for a reasonable price. But considering the possible battery issues in the near future I am probably going to recommend her a new, cheap phone which will have worse specs than mine but may last a good bit longer.
  11. okay let me explain a little bit more. You are right, if the battery fails soon I shouldn't sell it. But it doesn't seem to be doing that right now, it has gotten a little worse but not horrible. And she doesn't need or expect much from a phone. I would spend some extra money to get a more expensive phone with better specs, but she doesn't want such an expensive phone, just one that can open her email and has some storage space. Mine has 64GB, which is more than enough, and I can sell it for way less than a new phone with 64GB. But you are right, if the battery fails I shouldn't have sold it to her. I have never had a phone for long enough to have the battery die, so I don't know how likely that is.
  12. Hello guys, I bought a Xiaomi mi 5s slightly less than 3 years ago. My mom needs a new phone and maybe wants to buy it from me. It has the following specs: snapdragon 821 (this seems to be a quad core instead of the usual 8 core, so slightly less powerfull than you may expect) 64 GB storage 3 GB RAM 1920*1080 screen 12 mp back camera, 4 mp front camera. 3000mAh battery. (ofcourse after 3 years this does not perform as well, on a normal day I charge it overnight and have about 20-40% left, but not when I use apps like youtube a lot. My mom will not use very demanding apps.) I am mostly worried that the battery may get too weak within a short amount of time, but it may last a few more years. how much is this phone worth?
  13. I recently broke my second set of house of marley earbuds, and I am now looking into a slightly more durable replacement with a little bit more volume and bass. a friend recommended the skullcandy method wireless BT (link below) and they look pretty promising. However it seems that there are some problems with the build quality, especially the battery performance seems to vary a lot between different users. these reviews are all a few years old, so maybe the quality is better by now, or is that a stupid thought? Should I buy these earbuds or look for an alternative?
  14. I have a 1080p 60hz monitor, and it crashes when I try to send 720p video to it. this isn't such a big deal, except that I just bought farming simulator 2017 and it seems that this game starts at 720p, which crashes the monitor and somehow it also freezes the PC (which doesn't happen if I change to 720p in windows, then the screen just temporarily displays the same error message but goes back to 1080P automatically)
