only 1 NAND does not automatically mean they cheaped out. There are SSDs with multiple NAND modules and still suck.

This one is not bad https://www.notebookcheck.net/SK-Hynix-BC511-HFM512GDJTNI-SSD-Benchmarks.477149.0.html, even if it's nowhere near high end.

ID 1F15 means it has the newer 2060 version with GDDR6 memory

To know which laptop has 115w variant, you have to look for reviews. These have 110-115w variant:
    Lenovo Legion 5P & 5 15
    Tongfang Ryzen (ID-O & ID-R)
    MSI GL65/GP65 10th gen
Asus 10th gen G/GL line (these are bad, avoid)
    (I might miss out some)

That's why you don't buy FX504. It cannot be fixed since the firmware/BIOS will overwrite the settings

genexis_x reacted to Levent in Why has no one made a easily upgradable laptop
There have been laptops with MXM graphics cards, desktop CPU sockets and sodimm slots for ages. Demand is not there and they are expensive and not I would call a "laptop". I remember seeing ones for sale going as far as 2010.

Go for Legion, Asus don't have MUX - you deserve to get the max possible performance you paid for

If there are no power limits, yes they will throttle. But that's not the case with most gaming laptops.

Even in Aida64 FPU+Furmark test they will keep power limits in place and not thermal throttle. Different models have different power limits, that's why some are better than others.

genexis_x reacted to RollinLower in Anyway to upgrade your laptop RAM that is soldered to the motherboard?
RAM is just RAM, if you desolder the chips and solder on bigger chips it would work. but because these are BGA chips, soldering them is quite a difficult task.
there are a few people who have done the same with GPU's, but the same applies to normal RAM.

It would be okay, but both of the sticks would run at 2666 MHz, assuming the cas-latency is the same.

genexis_x reacted to JSPotter in ASUS TUF Gaming A15 FA506QR idles at 60 C temperature
Asus TUF computers are notorious for terrible cooling. If you can't find another solution, there are a few vids on YT that show how you can cut your own vents into the chassis to improve temps (ASUS made the cooling to cool the whole system, but in result the CPU/GPU don't get nearly enough dedicated cooling). This obvious breaks warranty, so only do this if you really need to keep it (you can't return after you modify it).

Which is just the marketing side of it, yes. Afaik there is no software that REQUIRES AVX-512 as that'd exclude 99.9% of CPUs on the market.

In other words, it very likely won't be the killer feature to switch for. Not until after the laptop is replaced 5 or so years down the road.

This depends on your car to be honest. You have to check the current limits of the 12v socket. Most passenger cars are 5A limited. You might get away with a USB PD charger, as long as you dont use your laptop while charging.

I just checked the video and checked out a few websites. I think what you're seeing on the charts might be CPU scores of Time Spy, not GPU. Linus was talking about Intel/AMD so their emphasis on that part of the video was processors.
