    Wanted to try something new so there you go...from now on I will be streaming on Twitch everyday - going through posts in laptop sub-forum in LTT and LYN (local) forums, explaining how I recommend laptops. I will also give my opinions/comments on new laptop reviews and laptop news. And yes, I will be talking, but no face reveal. Sorry if the audio isn't clear, I will be using laptop built-in mic. I don't have a fixed time on the stream as I will do it during free time (when I open LTT forum, which is my daily routine), time zone is GMT+8.

    On the topic of laptops, while this might change once reviews flow in, I think the 2060 is probably going to be the value sweet spot, much like the 1060, although to a greater degree here. Why?

    It's among the most improved in the Turing lineup, with a claimed up to 50% improvement over the 1060. The 2070 has a claimed 30% jump over the 1070 by comparison. However, the 2070 is still beefier, albeit perhaps not to as great of a degree as the 1060 vs 1070. Many laptop displays are 1080p. A GPU in the class of a 1070 will usually have zero issues driving a 1080p display at a high framerate, so performance isn't much of a concern in that context. I still think there is a spot for the 2070 and 2080 for laptops, specifically those for bleeding edge machines, large desktop replacements or those with UHD displays. But I think for many, especially those who don't want to spend more than what's already expensive on a laptop, I think the 2060 fits the bill really well, much like the 1060 6GB did for the Pascal generation (although 1070 laptops are now in a similar price range to 1060 machines when they were new)

    A few thoughts after looking at new laptops announced in CES:

    Please stop putting 8950HK into thin and light chassis. It won't surpass the multi core performance of 8750H due to thermals. Even though it has extra 3MB cache and more single core performance, the i9 chip is much more expensive (chip alone: $583 vs $395). Not worth it.

    Also, 2070MQ 80W and 2080MQ 80W are probably just slightly better than 2060 80W. Kinda reminds me of what happened to 1080MQ. Higher end GPU means higher MSRP. Therefore, you pay more.

    Stop asking for more money from consumers without providing any noticeable extra performance.

    Quite honestly though, I don’t think core count should be what people are discussing with Ryzen 3000 as much.

    Core count had never really been an issue with Ryzen. But clockspeed has, especially for gaming.

    Looks like Dell is turning the GX line from the budget gaming laptop line that it launched as into what looks to be an Alienware alternative especially since the G7 17" can apparently be equipped with a GTX 1070 alongside all 3 of the RTX Mobility GPUs.

    Mentioned this to a friend of mine who recently had issues with people leaving him over his opinions, so I thought I’d share it here.

    I’d rather have someone who has principle who is able to stand on his own ground and provide valid reasons and proof to support whatever stance he has. In essence, having a spine. What I don’t like is seeing people try to make a point but subsequently bow down to the herd mentality due to the majority factor rather than making a point and supporting it with facts.

    On that same vein, we all have different opinions. I have much more respect for someone who disagrees with me and provides a list of factual evidence to back up his counter-thesis, rather than either;
    A person who just blindly agrees with whatever I say A person who disagrees but fails to provide any legitimate proof to back up his points, or resorts to being an asshat in retaliation.
