  3. If you have that much budget, go for desktop+laptop.

Haha that is my own water bottle lol.
  5. Finally it's here. Thank you Lenovo for giving away a Legion Slim 7i 2022 and a lot of merchandise. I did not expect to receive all these from the private event.

Been voluntarily contributing to the laptop community since 2017, from begineer to enthusiast, this is the best return I can hoped for.

Of course, review will be coming out...but probably need more time to complete due to my busy schedule.

Thank you all forumers that trusted my knowledge on your laptop decisions. Hopefully one day I'll be active here again...

Yeah you do great work and should also get something in return. You certainly have helped me in the past with Notebook purchasing decisions.

  6. Performance at 1440p wise I would say 3060Ti to start with

  8. Hey, how is everyone? Just realized I haven't post anything here for 1.5 months thanks to my hectic work...

Anyway, something exciting is coming its way, can't wait it to arrive!

This is very meaningful to me personally - will explain more after receiving it.

Can you guess what it is?

Normal, life has been staying still for me, but at least not going backwards.

  9. Not sure whether worth to create a new thread.

My bro PC won't boot. After turning on only showed DRAM debug light. No post also.

Mobo is Asus TUF B550M-Plus WIFI.

Tried different RAM slots, single stick RAM, jump CMOS, take out CMOS battery, remove the newly installed SSD, flash new bios with bios flashback - nothing worked.

The PC is still under warranty but since the shop is far away from our house, we need to plan when to send it back due to a lot of personal reasons.

    Need help.

Do you have different ram to boot with? Try unplugging everything but CPU fan and ram to test, in case there is a short somewhere. If you can remove the motherboard from the case, do so.

If the rest of the motherboard shows dust accumulation, try cleaning the DIMM slots.

Why many 2022 AMD gaming laptops come with AMD…

    actually they have no choice
  11. Why many 2022 AMD gaming laptops come with AMD Radeon dGPU only?

Answer: Remember what happened in 2020? (Hint: Blue+Green)

I expect AMD is putting pressure to get more AMD advantage edition laptops certified.

Also, with Smartshift pairing a AMD CPU and GPU is almost a no brainer.

    3. TheDankKoosh

      TheDankKoosh

I believe going forward that AMD laptops might end up being the defacto choice, with news of nvidia hardware pushing crazy wattages it will be hard for them to pack a proper GPU into a laptop with another furnace of an intel CPU. AMD is going to pull off much a better performance/watt ratio going into the future with the process advantage from TSMC and their more forward thinking approaches to curbing power draw (chiplets, no alternative processing cores, infinity fabric/io package).

Anyone else miss the Nvidia 1000 series GPU des…

Yes, it was golden era especially for laptops, bcoz no power hungry cards unlike new gen GPUs. Almost flagship 1080 has lower TDP than my 3060Ti...

I want to crop the sides of that photo so bad…. Fish eye was not a good look in this case.  Enough to make it interesting (so a lot more) could work well, or none, but that just ruins the symmetry.  It’s very nails-on-blackboard to me.

@Bombastinator So you would say this is better? I had to do some reprojection to it too, but with not enough source material, couldn't make it completely flat.

I think I found the CPU for my next upgrade to…

    Don't wait for Zen 4?
  14. Does the year on top of AMD CPU matter? My R5-5600 although being recently released, showing year 2020 lol.

    1. AlTech

      AlTech

      Considering it's a worse 5600X? No

    2. Jurrunio

      Jurrunio

Technically later samples overclock better, but considering you chose the 5600 over the 5600X I doubt it affects your decision.

  15. For those who are wondering: By just enabling PBO, I am able to get 4.45GHz all core boost for my R5 5600.

Your result may vary with silicon quality and cooling.

Edit: With PBO+Auto OC, able to get 4.65GHz in games.

    1. Origami Cactus

      Origami Cactus

Sounds good, my 3700x can only do 3.9GHz all core with PBO, and the 4750u can only do 2.2Ghz, and if the render is long, then 1.39Ghz lol. But in games both do 4.1Ghz.

    2. TheDankKoosh

      TheDankKoosh

Depending on ram quality you may be able to get better gains with tuning your memory, also I'd suggest a -50 to -100mv offset when using PBO as it tends to push voltages a bit hard

  16. I'm using HDMI. No other cables available for me to try.

Using W10 Pro 21H2, OS build 19044.1586 Parts: First taste of pcmasterrace - AMD Ryzen 5 5600, GeForce RTX 3060 Ti LHR - PCPartPicker BIOS version F15a Any help is appreciated.
