  1. This was the problem. Guess I've gotta get something else for wifi/bluetooth Thanks for the help!
  2. I have my 1070 in the first (closest to CPU) x16 slot, skip the next x1 slot, wifi card in next x1 (shows up in bios image), and then this M.2 adapter card in the final slot (which is a full length slot running at x4). There are no SATA drives or anything else connected via SATA. I just have those PCIe devices + KB/Mouse + Monitor. I have not updated the bios yet but looking through the recent releases, I seem to have the second newest one and the notes don't mention anything about NVME drives or PCIe. https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/Z170M-MORTAR.html I will try updating it now anyways but I don't have much hope for it.
  3. I believe so. It's in the bottom slot of the card and actually won't fit in the top (SATA) due to the M-key on the drive.
  4. Yes, for testing purposes. I pulled the SSD out of a working windows 10 system. Once I verify that it works, I will be reformatting it and re-installing windows.
  5. So I just finished putting together a build yesterday and when getting into the bios, everything looked fine but I couldn't see the M.2 SSD in there. I'm using a PCIe to M.2 conversion board that is listed in the pcpartpicker below. The bios does show my GPU, RAM, and everything else plugged into the mobo. I'm wondering if the issue might be that the PCIe driver in the bios is out of date as it seems to be from 2016 but I'm not sure how to update this through the bios (or if it's even possible). I have attached some images below along with the full build. TIA for the help! https://pcpartpicker.com/list/2w6xVc
  6. So I carry around an ubuntu laptop for the work that I do as well as a surface pro as a writing tablet/windows device. There are times where I want to be able to use the surface as a second monitor like apple sidecar. I want to do it over cable so that I can work without an internet connection and with minimal software on the linux machine. I'm thinking of getting a cheap capture card, connecting the HDMI output of my laptop to the card input, and then viewing the output on the surface (through OBS or a similar software.) The thing that I'm unsure about is if the ubuntu laptop will be able to extend my desktop instead of just duplicating my display. Does the capture card show up as a second monitor (like when connecting an external display) or does it show up differently? Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks for reading!
  7. Using the Asus - PRIME Z270-P ATX LGA1151 Motherboard (full part list here: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/8jXXKZ). I have PCIE set to auto. I tried it when set to gen1 and still had the same problem. I'm not sure about +4g decoding though, I couldn't find it in the bios. What category should I look under? Is it "above 4g decoding"? If so, I already have that disabled. I also tried with both DMI config PCIE set to gen1 and PEG config PCIE set to gen1 with no luck.
  8. Currently going from 3 GPUs -> 7 GPUs. They are all the same 1070 (EVGA ACX 3.0 Black Edition). I have 3 GPUs working fine with risers and my monitor connected to one of the GPUs. I shut the computer down and added another GPU with a riser. I then try to power back on and it shows a blinking underscore ("_"). Then it just goes to a black screen (monitor is still getting a signal). I thought that the issue might be PSU related but I have 2 Corsair CSM 750W PSUs connected with this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0734Z24BJ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1. The connection "guide" was a bit sketchy so I'm not sure if I did it right. I plugged one 24 pin into the mobo and the other into the adapter. I then connected a molex from the PSU connected to the mobo to the adapter. Then I connected the cards to power normally. Is this the correct way to use the adapter?
  9. just pick whichever u think is cooler. I prefer the strix cards but it's up to you and what you like.
  10. I found the problem! Notice how it says "Via any router IP" under server-2 SSH rule. I needed to set the external IP forwarding to the correct port so that it doesn't just forward all ports to that server.
  11. https://www.cryptocompare.com/mining/nvidia/nvidia-geforce-gtx-1080-ti/ The 1080ti probably uses more power ($) than it will make mining. The 1070 is really the sweet spot for mining.
  12. Wait wot... second gen intel cpu in a $1000 laptop? Maybe pass on this one...
  13. They are all on different ports. Also forgot to mention that I'm using Openwrt on Server Network Router with LuCi.
  14. I run riftcat with my phone which simulates a oculus rift. It works really well on my 1080 so you should be fine.
  15. It could be the CPU fan. Try running a cpu benchmark (like prime95) to see if the noise gets louder when the fan needs to run faster. I really don't know what else it could be.
  16. I have my network configured like this: TDS Router -> Main Router (WiFi) -> Server Network Router - Main Server (ubuntu) - Orange PI (debian distro) So I have ssh servers running on both of the servers on the Server Network Router. They are both configured to use different ports. I have the Server Network Router port forwarding the respective ports to the correct servers. When I connect to the Server Network Router from the Main router (using the Server Network Router's internal ip address, assigned by Main Router), using either port, it will connect to Main Server. I can then use Main Server to ssh into Orange PI with it's internal ip address (192.168.2.xx). Any ideas on why both ports are going to the same box? The TDS Router has ip addresses: 192.168.0.xx, the Main Router has ips 192.168.1.xx, the Server Network Router has ips: 192.168.2.xx.
  17. Update on this: After quite a bit of trial and error, I have narrowed the issue down to my Corsair devices. I have contacted Corsair support and will post once I find a solution.
  18. Update: I've been able to get the settings app (devices tab) open when everything disconnects and it briefly flashes driver error on all of the devices and then the entire settings app crashes. It's happened at least 20 times today, I shit you not. I'm just about ready to throw my pc out the window. This single reply has been such a struggle to type out, it's disconnected 3 times already and I'm not even done writi
  19. Update:Just got the same issue with all cameras unplugged. Also had the problem like 7 times when not playing a game so it seems unrelated to amount of input and may not be bandwidth related. I also forgot to mention that I have checked every single power saving option and turned it off. Ports will never turn off (in theory).
  20. Yeah when it disconnects, the LEDs go off on all devices (except the mouse).
  21. I thought it was Machine Learning. That sounds pretty cool though.
  22. From what I can tell, it seems that no ports work reliably. I have all of my cables tied together so it's really hard to find which one goes to the mouse. I've tried changing them up quite a bit with no success.
  23. First some background. Currently, I have the build shown in my description (https://pcpartpicker.com/b/xjf8TW). With the following USB devices connected: Corsair K95 (not the new one), Logitech G502 (Mouse), A Polaris RGB mousepad (sorry, got it on sale for pretty cheap) Logitech G930 (Headset). Currently, I have the keyboard connected to the USB hub built into my monitor. I also have 4 PS Move cameras connected via usb. Everything is connected to the ports in the back of the mobo (nothing connected to the front ports). Here's the problem. While in game, my USB devices will randomly disconnect. I have been unable to figure out anything that correlates with them disconnecting, it seems totally random. It's also interesting that my mouse doesn't disconnect ever but everything else does. It will wait a few seconds and then everything reconnects at the same time and I get a notification: "The last device that you plugged in was not recognized." When I go look in device manager, everything looks totally normal. This also only seems to happen while gaming, when browsing the web, I have never had this happen. Also, once everything disconnects, whatever the last input from the keyboard continues to be sent. For example, if I was holding "W" when it disconnected in a FPS, I would continue walking forward until it reconnects. Because this seems to only happen during gaming, my best guess is an issue with bandwidth. I've also read online that this could be a broken mobo but not sure if I believe that (source: https://forums.techguy.org/threads/windows-10-all-usb-devices-disconnect-randomly.1189627/). #denvercoder9. Also attached a screenshot of my device manager + settings devices. Please let me know if there is any more information that would be helpful to diagnose this issue. Thanks! EDIT: Forgot to include some unique things about my build: Using 2 16GB dims for ram (see build, they were out of the one I wanted and I really wanted my pc). Also copied all of my data (boot drive) from a sata ssd to my M.2 ssd when I got it. From what I've heard, this can cause weird problems but this issue seems pretty unrelated.
  24. $10 it's mining EDIT: actually might be ML, pictures don't quite look like a mining rig.
