Would like to hear more on this, do you mean in general or is RAID0 faster than RAID1 for boot? Understand the concepts of RAID 0 and 1, just want to clarify if you meant that you experience faster boot with RAID0 than RAID1

I mean like during Windows boot, does Windows do any writing to disks at all? Or is does it just write minor log files?

That is interesting to hear, thanks for sharing. Would like to know as well if you have seen any improvement of boot times with RAID0 rather than RAID1. Since technically both should achieve same read speeds.

Thanks! During boot, write speed does not matter right? (i.e. Does RAID 0 have any improvement over RAID 1 for boot?) PS. understand as well that RAID0 is very risky for your data

Hi, Has anyone tried putting hard drives in RAID0, RAID1, etc for boot disk? Does it help with performance? Technically higher read would improve but also since it's mechanical I would assume latency as well. Would like your input. Thanks! PS. please don't tell me to just go buy an SSD.

you asked me what raid card I would use, so I gave you an answer mixed drive sizes because we already had these drives, 8tb drives and 10tb drives, not buying them new

Server 2019 essentials drive setup 10tb*4, 8tb*8, would love to lose 1 or 2 hard drives willy nilly. hardware raid card, haven't decided, but probably will get a used lsi raid card does this setup still warrant for storage spaces?

also, there is also bios raid? built into intel chipsets, so many options

as per title, was wondering for windows servers it is generally advised to use hardware or software raid? there's built in software raid with storage pools and stuff

No I have disk images, not like actual jpeg images, like I have a copy of the contents of the OS partition of the drive that I could clone to another drive and it boots. The problem is that when I restore a MBR image to a GPT formatted drive or vice-versa, it doesn't boot
