  1. Milestones of Linux as a gaming platform Newbie friendly guide to using Linux for gaming
  2. This might help. https://www.back2gaming.com/reviews/b2g-games/pc/newbie-friendly-guide-using-linux-gaming/
  3. ASUS GTX 1050 Ti Expedition 4GB review https://www.back2gaming.com/reviews/b2g-hardware/hw-components/gpus/asus-gtx-1050-ti-expedition-4gb-graphics-card-review/
  4. PSU - Seasonic M12II 620 watts will do. The money you save can be re-allocated to other components. RAM - Make it 8GBx2. In case you need more RAM in the future, add another set of 8GBx2 for a total of 32GB. GPU - Get the 8GB variant of Radeon RX 480 Monitor - Why not consider the LG 34UC97 which was reviewed by Linus ?
  5. Get a Core i5 6500 or wait for AMD Zen (AM4 socket, DDR4) and see how it compares to Intel Kaby Lake
  6. Anybody knows? Their last PSU review is in 2013. I know there are other review sites which have good PSU reviews but Hardware Secrets is my favorite because they do overload tests. Thanks
  7. I have a Core i7 4790K + GeForce GTX 970 and I see a total CPU usage of 40 - 70% when playing games at 1080p Crysis 3 - Welcome to the Jungle GTA V - Rockford Hills Rise of the Tomb Raider - Threshold of Kitezh Witcher 3 - Novigrad Deus Ex: Mankind Divided - Prague Disabling Hyper Threading increases the CPU usage to 70 - 90%
  8. If the assumption is that games 2 to 3 years from now won't be more demanding, yes, GTX 1080 is a waste of money for 2560 x 1080
  9. GTX 1070 is still good for 3440 x 1440. You can tweak (set it to the 2nd / 3rd highest setting) some of the image quality options to get more FPS. But if you can afford a GTX 1080, go for it. There is no such thing as overkill. Games get more demanding each year. GTX 1060 is only good for 1920 x 1080 or 2560 x 1080 when using maximum settings
  10. Run the Core i5 6600K at 4.0 - 4.2 GHz (attainable with medium-sized air coolers and affordable Z170 boards) and you should be fine even with a GTX 1080 OC'ed. More so if you are playing at 1440p
