rockking1379 got a reaction from handymanshandle in Massive Apple refresh maybe on the way
The Mac mini is really what I’m interested in. I always consider it until I open the specs back up and realize it’s just...not good. A quad core would be happily welcome

rockking1379 got a reaction from DrMacintosh in Apple Music now boasts more subscribers than Spotify in the U.S.
Personally I switched off Spotify to Apple Music because of iCloud family sharing. I already had a shared subscription for extra iCloud storage.

Yay I have no respect for someone that just drops a huge flaw into public hands without even bothering to contact the developers so they have a chance to fix it.

I’m actually sad to see this happening. But ultimately I don’t have the financial means to back the guy.

rockking1379 got a reaction from TVwazhere in FAA proposing to ban checking in electronics larger than a cellphone
Personally I don’t see this going over. If they ban laptops from flights literally every business professional will be effected in a bad way.

Let’s make everything connected, they said.
It’ll be fun, they said.
This is why we shouldn’t connect everything with a circuit board to the internet.

rockking1379 got a reaction from NvidiaIntelAMDLoveTriangle in Finally Someone Decided To Do Something About Miners
For everyone asking how they could tell it wouldn’t be hard. Think of an SSD with all the SMART data. Basically add that to new GPUs and theycould easily tell. If a six month old card shows say over a thousand hours above a given threshold (say 80%) then you can induce it was likely used for an application it wasn’t designed for.

I use two programs. Makemkv to get the movie onto hard drive and then handbrake to compress it. For serving the media back to clients I use plex but there are other options out there

rockking1379 reacted to emille26 in Federal judge FORCES Apple to help FBI decrypt San Bernardino killers iPhone 5C
I am a lawyer, but this is not what I practice... BUT
Apple's issue is not that it is being asked to help bruteforce this phone, but that they are being asked to change ALL phones so that they can be brute forced by the government.
Apples issue is that the fix (firmware update) that the FBI wants would affect every customer, not just this one.
