Mobile Kepler support to end by April and Killing 3D Vision
rockking1379 replied to AlfaProto's topic in Tech News
I didn’t use nvidia 3D vision. However I did have a buddy who has a decent gaming pc back then. And I had bought the 240Hz PlayStation tv. So we tried BF3. It was cool but gave both of us massive headaches very fast- 31 replies

I’ll accept even a one to two month delay for the new halo.

this is a unfortunate limitation of SQLite. which i love very much. i had a project though that had multiple client locations and because of the IT department had to be run entirely serverless. SQLite worked but the db file was synced over the network file server. our work around was to open the file, run the command, and then close the connection. this mostly worked. file system and how the OS handles files plays a big role in concurrency. one thing we found was reading the file actually wasnt the issue. it was having more than one person trying to write to it.

ipod touch New iPod Touch might be in the works for 2019
rockking1379 replied to captain_to_fire's topic in Tech News
Even the text part is only limited to SMS and calls to cellular. iPod touch supports FaceTime Audio and iMessage. Which in my family at least covers the important contacts for my kids. -
ipod touch New iPod Touch might be in the works for 2019

When my oldest was 6 I gave her an iPhone 5C my family had just lying around. My fiancé’s family gave me so much shit about it. Particularly her grandma. Until I told her all the controls I and limitations that had been placed on the device. She shut up after that. My middle child is 6 now and I’ve considered getting him an iPod touch. Since it would let him use FaceTime to contact me long as he has WiFi -
Sony Announces The PlayStation Classic
rockking1379 replied to SuperCloneRanger's topic in Tech News
For real! Had to find controllers and now finding games since those got lost over the years. But I’m glad the console it self runs. Do need to clean the power and lid release buttons though. They bind and stick a bit. -
Sony Announces The PlayStation Classic

I have my smaller PS1 from my childhood and my 8 and 5 year old now play one it. -
Exactly what it gets used for. She wants to look something up. Or I just need to check email. It’s great to always have it ready.

I have an early 09 iMac that I get used super cheap and have been loving having it. I know crazy. But it’s the lower power machine I leave on constantly. I want a new one that’s a hard sell with the misses. Mac mini would hopefully be able to convince her being much “cheaper”

The Mac mini is really what I’m interested in. I always consider it until I open the specs back up and realize it’s just...not good. A quad core would be happily welcome

Apple Music now boasts more subscribers than Spotify in the U.S.
rockking1379 replied to DrMacintosh's topic in Tech News
Personally I switched off Spotify to Apple Music because of iCloud family sharing. I already had a shared subscription for extra iCloud storage. -
the lite over PoE variant gets recommended because of the CPU throughput. personally i opted for the PoE variant anyway and i have been really happy with it. but my ISP connection also cant saturate it and anything i do for LAN communication dont hit the router (pretty sure thats how that works anyway if both devices are on the same switch).

Spyro on Xbox is just wrong.

same in Wyoming. Tmobile used to piggy back off the Union Wireless towers but that has recently went away as well

PSA: Synergy 2.0 is terrible!
rockking1379 replied to Kryptyx's topic in Programs, Apps and Websites
i actually got more mad about 2.0 when they gutted ALL the GUI source from the repo. i compile the project myself and follow the same attitude of i will just keep using the older version. -
Potentially 15 year old macOS root access bug... yes, another one
rockking1379 replied to cox1000's topic in Tech News
especially when some people (particularly those starting out programming) cant even get small <100 line programs to work flawlessly -
I’m actually sad to see this happening. But ultimately I don’t have the financial means to back the guy.

*puts on tin foil hat* all these mass shooters sure seem to all be using iPhones. Perhaps a conspiracy theory by the government to paint Apple as a bad company for helping criminals get away with it? Would lead to public outrage against them essentially forcing them to create the back door? Nah nevermind that’s all crazy talk.

Synergy 2 is here with SSL for everyone BUT with a catch [Update]
rockking1379 replied to AlTech's topic in Tech News
core functionality is still open source. basically only the CLI. if you still want full version just compile 1.8.x from the git repo. thats what i have done. i dont feel synergy is worth 50 bucks -
iOS 11.2 is supposed to have resolved the issue with this.

It has to do with the animations. The signs fade out after you select another button. Well if the animation hasn’t finished the next time you hit say plus it won’t register it
-
i actually tried this. it is a software bug. something is wrong with the plus sign where it doesnt detect the second tap on it which would be between 2 and 3 if you slow down and enter it in with a small time gap between the numbers and operations it works just fine
