First thing I'll reduce to gain performance is Foliage Visibility. Barely noticeable between High and Ultra but the frame drop is pretty high. 
 
Hairworks looks great of the animals or monster but not on Geralt. I use mod that enable Hairworks except on Geralt. Look great and performance drop is pretty minimal.

I could run windows without fresh updates and without an anti-virus and use the web for months and not get a single virus. W10 is a shitty OS designed to wrest as much user control as possible from the end-user and give it to M$, however, I won't sit here and say it's the least secure OS they've made, and certainly won't say that using the web will suddenly throw up a warning flag such that viruses come a-runnin' to your system and your system alone just to infect you and prevent you from gaming.
 
Here's what to do about your laptops. You've run DDU. Install the intel graphics driver. Then install 372.54 (no need for 372.70; it offers no real benefit to any game at all whatsoever for anybody on Maxwell and Kepler drivers beyond 372.54, but it DOES reduce performance in a couple of titles compared to 372.54; most notably Battlefield 1) and see if things run properly.
 
If you still have issues, then HD Tune Pro's trial should take care of things.
 
If you still further have issues, the problem likely lies elsewhere, and I suggest hunting for it. Possibly doing  a system restore to when your machine worked properly, or even a fresh install of your OS would likely help.

Reading news like this always makes me feel good about choosing to game on PC. We get the ability to run high resolutions, high graphics settings and high/smooth frame rates.

None of the Asus BIOS worked but the newsest Sapphire BIOS is currently running Furmark @ stock spec's

Yes it was a really great card for it's price and it still have a hidden feature under it sleeve to perform better on newer API, if the 290x didn't go on sale 2 years ago i probably still use one.
But 670 beat the shit out of 7950/7970 on release day, even 660 Ti is vastly superior that time but the 7950/7970 slowly crawl back up after a few years and now almost reach 780 performance. Still a great card for low-midrange gamer nowadays, i always recommend them over 270x and lower tier card.

This seems like a better way of doing it IMO... AMD people don't need to worry about Gameworks screwing their performance and Nvidia users can enjoy the extra effects (if they want to). I'd much rather have this than being stuck with Gameworks. I appreciate Nvidia for doing this. It's a win-win for everyone. Thanks Nvidia!

I really don't think Wendell meshes with the LTT crowd. They're even more unprofessional and "silly" then Logan was (in general, not referencing this specific incident).
 
But LMG has EXCELLENT management. Linus and Yvonne do a fantastic job, and I credit Yvonne with most of the hard lifting on the back-end administration of the company.
 
One thing that has been bothering me about this thread and the one that got locked: People commenting on Pistol, and questioning her relationship with Logan and saying bullshit stuff like "Don't ever involve your romantic partner in your business". Claiming things like she's spending company money or that TS is giving her a free ride, etc.
 
What the fuck? Pistol is paid a salary. WHAT SHE DOES WITH THAT SALARY IS NONE OF YOUR FUCKING BUSINESS. Her relationship, whether intimate or not, IS ALSO NONE OF YOUR FUCKING BUSINESS. This isn't games journalism. She isn't a journalist and he isn't a game dev, nor vice versa. If she and Logan both share rent at an apartment or house, who the fuck cares? Again, none of our business.
 
Most small businesses are co-managed by the husband and wife owners.
 
She might have said stupid stuff and she might not be likeable (I don't know her or anything about her, so I have no comment on her character or likeability - I frankly never even heard of her before this incident). But that doesn't matter. Comment directly on those things, if you must. But let's not make up bullshit like somehow she's a conflict of interest in the company.
 
I'm taking the firm stance of "wait until the dust settles". The amount of "pulled this out of my ass" bullshit being spread is insane. As for the transparency and the money? NONE OF YOUR FUCKING BUSINESS. Even if you're a Patreon backer, that does not give you the right to know anything about their finances. They can voluntarily tell us, if they want (But they shouldn't - seriously, business finances are not a public discussion). But they have no obligation to do so. A Patreon backer backs because either they like the community, or for the specific "goals". If those goals aren't being met, it doesn't give you the right to demand their financial information. If you aren't satisfied with your Patreon donations, then YOU SHOULD STOP DONATING.

Check Gpu usage, if it pegged at >90% then you're gpu bottleneck and you need to lower the setting. 
 
If not then you're CPU bottleneck, try to lower shadow detail/distance or play other game.

Umm no: this is a burden of proof fallacy: The entire controversy started when people, includying his business partner Wendell who is actually legally entitled to know kept asking to see where the money went. You don't get to answer "prove to me that it didn't go to legit expenses!" You'd be laughed out of court if that's your defense, yet this is what you're doing by inverting the burden of proof.
 
Nobody can be sure he just used it on drugs, nobody stated that's definitively what he did. By not answer and not being accountable however, Logan invites criticism and speculation, drug habit included.

Looking at the majority of the thread, I'm guessing that saving up a bit or selling my R9 285 and buying a RX 480 or GTX 1060 is the best option then?
