  1. Someone throw me a frickin ' bone here!! 10 zillion galaxy devices sold and no one has ever had this issue (and solved it)? A 4 year old device should not have this problem, especially since the even older HTC it replaced does not.
  2. Anybody else have info or a solution to this issue? Does installing Cyanogenmod help or is it an issue with Samsung's hardware that no software can help solve?
  3. Hello, I have an S3 running Kit-Kat, and I can't plug it into any device other than my computer and have it read as a drive. By other devices I mean Sony TV, PlayStation 3, any car stereo with USB connection, etc. I have installed KIES on my computer and I can get it to read that way, but with my old HTC phone all I had to do is plug it in to the TV or PS3 and it would just work. Now I have to turn the phone off, pull out the SD card, put it in a reader and plug that into the device, which is kind of a nuisance. This is the only annoyance I have with this phone and I'd like to get it solved if possible, and I want to know if it's a common issue with Samsung phones in general (in case I want to upgrade) or if it's just the software that is loaded on the S3, or if KitKat is to blame.
  4. While replacing a dead SSD I thought I'd re-apply some TIM since it's been a few years and I've noticed my temps are a little higher lately, but upon trying to re-seat the water block, two of the mounting pins are turning inside the seating notch on the back plate meaning I can't tighten it down properly. It's not the pins themselves that are stripped from what I can tell, but the plastic notch that is not keeping it in place while screwing in the retention screw from the other side, and I did NOT have this problem when I originally put the block on. Any tips? Am I just going to have to use some pliers to keep it in place while I'm turning the retention pin? I'm guessing the back plate is mandatory, not so much to support the weight of the water block, but to keep the mounting pins from crushing the PCB? If not it would make it easier using pliers to hold them in place while seating the water block.
  5. So I'm helping someone who is not tech savvy buy a laptop, yesterday she told me she was advised by a salesperson that Win10 costs $100 extra and then $100 per year to re-subscribe??? Is this true or is she being BS'ed for extra sale?. The product description says "PRE INSTALLED". NOW, she might be mistaken and he was talking about Office, to which I know there are free alternatives out there. Just want to make sure she isn't being taken advantage of and getting up-sold for no reason. The last time I got a laptop with 8.1 installed it just worked out of the box, but I know the roll-out of Win10 is a different beast. TIA.
  6. Yeah I'm pretty sure you're right. T999V.
  7. Soo... I just popped the new Micro in and now, when transferring files onto it, I get advised that transferring files to SD cards is DISABLED in KitKat? Awesome. Disable one of the main things people use Android for in the first place. So I guess my only option, since S3's are not eligible for Lollipop, is to root and install CM or another ROM? Looks like the issue was with Astro. The Samsung file browser seems to work.
  8. So background info on my phone. Went from an HTC Raider to an S3 that I was given that was unlocked from Wind so I can use it on Rogers. I'm using the same SIM that was cut from Mini to Micro so it would fit. I used to get 4G on the HTC, sometimes dropping to 3G in the skytrain tunnels, now on the S3 I only get 3g at all times and it drops to G and E in the skytrain tunnels. I noticed that I used to get slow service in the tunnels even if it stayed on 4G. I've gone into the network settings and tried changing it from AUTO to GSM only and do a manual search for Rogers network but it doesn't seem to make a difference. Anyone know what gives, and had an S3 with the same issues on Rogers network?

    Monitor and Speaker

For what it's worth, if your mobo or sound card has 5.1 audio you can try plugging the monitor into the center channel and using it for that. Note: I've tried it and found that using onboard audio caused interference with garbled sound coming from the monitor speakers. Putting it though Sound Blaster took care of the interference, but the monitor speakers will be overpowered by the left and right external speakers, you'll have to crank the monitor to full volume in order for the dialogue not to get drowned out, and they will probably sound a little tinny.
  10. I just had a 32g Adata die on me after transferring it from an HTC phone that I never had any issues with for over 2 years (meaning the SD card) to an S3. Last thing I remember doing was deleting a couple of old photos, and the next time I looked at the phone a few hours later the storage option was gone, never to be seen again. I have a Sandisk on order, but I'd like to know if it was just a bum drive that finally gave out after 2 years, or if the S3 is actually a card killer like I've been reading about online before I sacrifice the Sandisk thats on order for no reason.
  11. 5 inch form factor, black body with rose gold accents. No branding on front panel. 1080 Res AMOLED, dual speakers top and bottom. Picture a hybrid of the Note 3 black and rose gold, Alcatel Idol 3, and OnePlus X. 128gig internal with 256+ SD support 8G Memory Ability to hot swap main battery, as well as have it charge through solar panel in screen. Dual boot Android and Windows OS. (Which is the reasoning for 64G and 8G memory) Ability to set screen to privacy mode where off angled viewing shows as black. Rear cam with zoom lens. Decent water resistance.
  12. I think the biggest thing would be getting more airflow into the case and creating more positive pressure, tho that might be moot if you are running them that slow. You must REALLY want a silent rig if you are running them at less than 700.
  13. Someone mentioned it up further, but I'm looking at the pics and seeing the large void between the Rad and the edge of the mobo/gpu and wondering why you don't slap 2 more loops in push/pull (or even Fractal's fans since they are B&W) to fill that void, add more positive pressure and airflow into the case, and increase the cooling potential of the closed loop? I know you must have a valid reason, but I hope its a good one considering the benefits noted above. PS. Nice build. ;-)
  14. TBH, any case will make noise if you run your fans over 1000 rpm by my experience with the Define R4. Remember, all cases have fan mounts close to intake/exhaust vents so they can't really be muffled or it would defeat the purpose of having them. Fans are controlled and I have the fronts at 700rpm, bottom 800rpm and rear on the Corsair H90 at 900RPM. None on top and moduvents on. Any higher on any of them and I start to notice.
