  1. Playing competitive FPSs with a CRT on my system is but one of several things I do on it. It just so happens that my only problems with my rig extend to this specific activity. My casual gaming I play on my IPS (Doom, Diablo 3 and other such mindless hack and slash fun zombie-state games) all of which I run at high resolutions and graphics settings. That's along with the video and audio production I do as well. I also had trouble running Unreal Tournament 4 and Reflex even at 1024x768 on that CRT with my old setup only able to achieve sub-165 FPS, so regardless, an upgrade was in order. Not to mention part of that 3000 bucks was so I can play with some bleeding edge tech like M.2 drives and expensive mainboards.
  2. Hmmm... active adapters. That is interesting. I guess the question is, should I get a VGA to... DVI, Display Port, or HDMI? And will the signal from these adapters accommodate 165hz refresh rates? My card is EVGA GTX 1080. The non-for-the-ripoff version. Thanks for the replies.
  3. I am a competitive FPS player. Playing on CRT monitors are my preference for playing games such as Quake Live, Unreal Tournament 4, Reflex, Counter-Strike and Overwatch. CRTs have no input lag, and no motion blur. My CRT in particular handles refresh rates up to 165hz at a reasonable resolution. So you can imagine my surprise after upgrading my computer after eight years when I came to find out that my seven-hundred dollar video card can't handle my beautiful CRT display that I use for hours of lagless gaming. Please note that I'm coming from a Phenom X6, a GTX 550 ti and 4 GB of RAM, 4800 RPM HDD, and going to a just over three-thousand dollar setup I just bought. I'm kind of bummed out. Is there a solution to this?
