also i was using the asus auto oc but i made my own oc now at 4,5ghz and it runs perfectly

Hi so my motherboard is asus p8z77-m and my cpu is i5-2500k and i have been using asus optimal mode for atleast 4months for now. Today when i started my pc it didnt boot, it tried to boot but then it just crashed every time, then i did the jumper thing at my motherboard and it started and it said that my cpu oc had crashed (and i only had the asus optimal mode on) So now its working at the asus normal mode, but i really would like to run it on optimal mode but when i try to turn the optimal mode on it just does the same thing. So my guestion is that, what is causing that, how is it possible to suddently stop working like that and how to fix it?
