Alternative to LED LCD but still LCD ? ..older CCFL LCD's, which are worse in pretty much every way.
 
Non LCD though ..well..
 
Pretty much nothing if ur looking for 'new' items.
 
Used , u can go old school CRT (Sony GDM - FW900 is arguably the king of CRT's), or if u wanna go BIG, then a Plasma will work (42" Panasonic Plasma is what I use).
 
You other option is to play the waiting game, and wait for OLED, which brings the best of LCD (small form factor, higher than 1080p resolutions) to the best of CRT/Plasma. (Brilliant colour , perfect viewing angles, fast/instant pixel response, jet black blacks), but is taking its sweet timing getting here because manufactures are still able to milk LCD technology.

I have a 32" 4k IPS Display because I like to game and edit photos like you. Photos job is nice in 4k but often I scale the OS to 1440 because it's just more of a pleasant (think squinting and mis-clicking). Bottom line, 1440 IPS photo editing on a larger screen (27 inch minimum) is a cozy all purpose use senario. If I was a gamer only i would be all over the 34" ultra wide displays. I run 3 different monitors already and don't have any more desks space. Yes, first world problems

I plan on getting another 270x in the new year.
 
 
Sorry for being sad dude (in your opinion).
I sit very close so it's actually bigger than a 60 inch screen in the lounge if you factor in peripheral vision.

Doesn't make me to react in any way.  Something felt really wrong about the image, then I noticed it's the fake blur. Also the bit that supposed to be sharp really isn't...

I would love to keep this thread/challenge going, so I came up with a little idea.
 
Moving this partly to a dedicated flickr group, when it comes to sending in the photo's, but keeping the voting on this forum(and thus open for a LTT members)
by moving the challenge it's possible to make new challenge's, even when the person making the topic's goes away or unable to do the draw of topic/voting.
altough it would still require a mod to remake the poll every 14days/2weeks, which luckily @Blade of Grass has been doing up till now(thanks alot for keeping this topic up)
otherwise we can even move the voting to a external site(straw poll?) since flickr doesn't have a poll option so far I know.
