  1. I’m upgrading my parents’ pc. The sleeves on the psu cables are flaking off as pictured. The fabric of the sleeves probably has gone brittle over the past 10 years. Sadly, as it’s a semi modular psu (Thermaltake Grand 1050W), I can’t replace the cables. It’s probably fine to continue using it, right? Though I’ll just remove the sleeve entirely to prevent them dusting the system. If I can find a big enough heat shrink tube to fit over the connector, I might also do that. What are your opinions?
  2. 1. Budget & Location $2000 - 2500 usd, exclude shipping and taxes. Expected to buy this at late Q3 to mid Q4 2019 2. Aim Gaming, programming, web browsing and a little bit of video editing. I usually play the lastest AAA fps so, assassin's creed, watch dogs 2, far cry etc. I don't play competitive though so framerate is nice to have but not really a must (I'm playing many AAA at 30 fps or less, so I'm not that sensitive to framerate. Still, more is better). 3. Monitors How many monitors do you plan on running? Do you plan on moving to more monitors in the future? What resolution are they at too? I currently have a 1080p monitor (I will game on this) and a 1280*1024 monitor. I'm planning on buying another monitor, preferably 120 Hz Ultrawide at 1440p with IPS panel and G-Sync, but I can't find one that fits my budget just yet (Haven't set a budget for this tbh) 4. Peripherals I'll need a windows 10 home license 5. Why are you upgrading? I'm moving on from my GT72 2QE, it serves me well over the years. But having to haul it to uni everyday is a bit of a pain so I'm planning on selling this to get a newer, lighter, laptop. But I'll still need a gaming rig therefore this thread. 6. Extra criteria 1. I NEED 2 * 16GB sticks of ram. I have a habit of working on one programming project, research about it which results in massive amount of chrome tabs. Then create another workspace for another project, doing the same thing. Resulting in even more chrome tabs and ram usage. I currently have 24 GB of ram in my GT72 and it's not really enough. The reason why I use 2 * 16GB sticks is that it'll give me an option to upgrade to 64GB down the road. 2. I prefer asus motherboard since they're proven manufacture to me. My rampage IV extreme is still running fine after all these years. And I'm comfortable in their bios. 3. I prefer intel since they have intel sgx and powerdvd will not play 4K HDR blu-ray without that (The damn hardware DRM). And I want to try out optane. I did my homework on this and get this part list https://pcpartpicker.com/user/theminer3746/saved/xCb6sY But, as always after a while of browsing on this sort of site, this part list is waaay over budget. So I redo it and get this https://pcpartpicker.com/user/theminer3746/saved/vtQnHx But this will mean that I won't be able to do custom loop water cooling on this. What's your opinion on this?
  3. I'm currently looking for ssd to upgrade my msi gt72 2qe dominator pro. From the spec sheet, this laptop support 4 m.2 ssd with maximum capacity of 1 TB and currently I've 1 256 GB sandisk ssd installed What I have in mind is the Samsung 850 EVO - 1TB - M.2 So, my questions are 1. Will this ssd compatible with my laptop? 2. What if I bought 3 of these and add it to my laptop, will my laptop accept it?
