  1. crystaldisk is a neat little program. Everything is working now. You are a gentleman and a scholar. Thank you.
  2. just games, they can be redownloaded. how unstable? the pc is connected to a battery backup.
  3. I was following this guide and made it to the part where he selects 'create array' in bios, but the option is grayed out for me. I don't even know how to get my OS to see the two m.2 drives. I think i'm way out of my depth on deciding to do this. Edit: Windows 10 is installed on a 500 GB ssd so I don't want to install it on the raid. I want to set up Raid 0, and I'm unsure what settings I'll need to enter for the cache or w/e once I can create the raid. I don't know what to search for or I'd just google that info.
  4. My router is a Linksys AC1200. Setting up Dynamic DNS requires navigating to the Security/Apps and Gaming tab; the last place I'd asume to look. It only supports tzo.com or dyndns.org (which seem to be the same company and are not free) and it seems the AC1200 is incompatible with all the major 3rd party firmware At this point, I think it would be cheaper to get a new router, a new router that I know is supported by 3rd party firmware.
  5. Yes, DDNS. I was playing around with No IP, but I don't know how to get it working for a HDD that is connected to my router rather than my computer. Edit: I want to access files externally over the internet.
  6. My browser bookmarks to the drive cease working after some time and need to be updated. Although infrequent, are a huge pain when I'm not at home to see the new address in my router setup.
  7. I know there are services available that update my current dynamic IP to a separate static IP via some magical process that has to do with the internet. Is it possible to set this up to work on a USB drive connected to a Linksys router? I'm dumb, but not "Is your pc plugged in? Did you restart it?" dumb. Please use simple words.
  8. http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/move-installed-apps-programs-windows-10/ Hope it helps.
  9. You could use the 500gb to backup some of your more important files from the 1TB, or use it as the default drive for downloads. I have an old 250GB drive full of only application installers and some backed up media files.
  10. I completely agree with this. I use Samsung SSDs and Hitachi (HUA723020ALA641) drives. Hitachis are ~$50 USD for 2TB. Never had any issues. Edit: I have never had a Seagate that lasted more than a month. I've received many (4 or 5) unboxed ones for free from a local business that keeps buying them to use for backup.
  11. Looked into it a bit more today. It seems there is some sort of regulation that says freezers have to be able to get food down to 0F to keep food preserved well enough so we can asume the ice is at -17.778C The specific heat of ice changes as its temperature does... i think i just used the value at -10C My browser front page now is full of links to online conversion calculators from so much recent use 0F = -17.778C 1.75601427 Watt-hours needed to get 18.9271 kg of ice at 0C to water at 0C Temperature change in degrees C = T final - T initial = 0C - (-17.778C) = 17.778C Specific heat = 2.05 cal / g C Heat = ( 18927.1 g ) ( 17.778C ) ( 2.05 cal / g C) = 689796.26679 calories 689796.2 calories = 2886107.58 J = 801.6965 Watt-hours 803.4525 Watt-hours total to raise the temp of ice to 0c and change to liquid at 0c 220 Watts will raise the temp of ice to 0c and change it to liquid in 3.652057009308081 hours (03h:39m:07s) So 3 hours 40min tops (a skewed value, most likely too high) to cool an absurd processor no one should be using with an absurd method of cooling it no one should be using.
