  1. So the hardware part of my first build starts to be kind of complete, but the software part isn't quite done yet and I'd have a few q's regarding that: 1. I've got an EVGA 1080 FTW ACX 3.0, what do I gotta do? Update the BIOS I believe, from their /thermalmod site, but which version? The primary or secondary? Am I fine (thinking of the resell value since I wanna move to 1080ti SLI next year) without installing the thermal pads or would I be best off getting a whole new one (my GF would like that best since after reading about the card that caught fire she doesn't quite trust my PC anymore...)? 2. Another GPU question: should my nvidia experience look like it does (pic attached), because there's only the my games and drivers tabs, but according to their website there should also be an 'my rig' tab which would let me customize the light effects on my GTX1080.. Anything I can do about it? Then, the clipboard. On my laptop, if I take a pic with the snipping tool and hit ctrl+c I can add the pic anywhere (FB chat, whatsapp desktop etc) with ctrl+v but on my new build it doesn't work so I have to save the snipped image and then add it... How do I change dis pls 3. My monitor is an Asus ROG PG27AQ 4k blaablaa, and when I've got it on my PC with thunderbolt the audio plays from its speakers, which is OK, but when I add my headset to the PC front connector audio still palys from the monitor - when I connect the headset to the monitor though it works. 3.1. Next problem with the monitor - the screen goes off from the PC side after 5min not using the PC and the monitor goes to sleep 10sec after that. If I've got youtube playing something (a song) and the screen goes to bed the audio stops too.. and waking up the screen (no matter what i was doing) takes for ages - is that an issue with the PC or monitor and what could be done about this? 4. I suppose I should stresstest or benchmark or something, Aida64 is a good I hear, but on their site there's ~five different stresstest options, could someone please specify what I should use there? If you could help me on with any of my questions I'd highly appreciate it
  2. For me it was fine in Helgen, but as soon as I got out of it i started to randomly get lags and fps drops
  3. Is it just me or should I get more than 45fps in Skyrim remastered on 4k resolution with an i7 6800k, 32GB RAM and a GTX 1080 or do I need 1080 SLI to hit 60fps? (I wouldn't even mind 45fps but it sometimes dips to 9fps which IS a problem)
  4. Hey folks, I've got the Logitech mouse you see below, it was a rather pricy one (don't remember the exact name) with black laser tech (which doesn't work 'on nearly every surface, even glass' as advertised, more like 'only on glass'). The mouse itself is actually still functioning, but the USB receiver needs half an hour of wiggling before it decides to work, if it decides to work... Can someone tell me if it's possible to get it fixed somewhere or somehow buy a new one and get it to work with my mouse or is it a lost case? I already went to an electronics shop and asked them about it but the poor saleslad had no idea... Any help is much appreciated

While I did my research most sources said the Noctua D15(s) is the best performing air cooler out there, and since looks weren't too relevant with this build I decided to go with it. Almost got myself a Kraken X61 but figured air would do just fine.

It's not quite what it seems on the other side I actually wanted my cable management to be A++ but then I decided this would do for now and that I would fix it some later day once I've got some spare time...

A i7 6800K processor cooled by a Noctua NH-D15s with Corsair Dominator Platinum 4x8GB 3k DDR4 RAM on a Asus X99-A II mobo. Graphics run by a EVGA FTW GTX 1080 and all powered by the EVGA SuperNova 850G2. Stuff is saved on two Samsung 850 PRO 512GB SSD's and everything now lives in a Fractal Design Define R5 case. Additionally there's the Pioneer optical drive and a Lexar SD card reader and one extra noctua fan to help with the cooling. Currently I've got an Asus ROG PG27AQ 4k monitor with that and a borrowed keyboard while waiting for my Corsair K95 RGB to arrive. Uses: Photo and video editing, gaming, coding. Why: Because. Update plans: Swap out the 1080 next year for 1080ti- or Titan XP- or Quadro-SLI, add two more monitors and eventually change all the fans to Noctua industrial ones. Feel free to judge.
  8. I think I'll try out AIDA64 - heard about it a few times now. The booting still doesn't work completely fine but I'll invite a friend over who hopefully can help me with it. I'm aware thats faar to much money spent for a gaming PC but this rig is for editing big photo files and raw 4k video so
  9. 1) Haven't yet figured out how to get it to run, gotta probably ask someone with a little more experience to come by and have a look at it... 2) The Asus site has like 50 different driver and utility things to download so I though it'd be easier to get the stuff from the DVD than to look through all that 3) I mean systems like Asus cloud or Dameon or what it's name was that doesn't do anything useful on the PC 4) I'll check out that link but here, http://www.geforce.com/whats-new/guides/geforce-experience-nvidia-geforce-gtx-led-visualizer-user-guide#3 it says I could control the light from Nvidia experience, however if I open Nvidia experince on the PC, there's only the 'home' and 'drivers' tabs, but no 'my rig' tab etc... Many thanks for your time!
  10. So I've managed to put my first build together and though the cable management is a wreck it boots and everything works so far! Got a few questions now: 1) How do I get it to boot directly into windows? Now I always have to wait until it shows me a screen which says 'Press F1 to set up' (Press F2/DEL for BIOS screen comes before that but neither button takes me to the BIOS), then after pressing F1, I get to the Asus BIOS, then F8/Boot menu and then choose the windows drive. I've tried clicking most places but it always takes me that route. 2) I've installed windows10, the driver for my GPU from Nvidias page, firefox, antivirus, anti malware and exploit, and the stuff that came with my Asus X99-A II mobo on the DVD. What else do I need to install (other than the software I am going to use myself.) Some good program to stress test? Any other drivers than those? 3) Though I tried to click away all stuff I didn't want, the Mobo driver DVD also installed a bunch of stuff that I don't really need, can I just get rid of it? (Specifying this post soon in terms of which systems there are) 4) The Lights of the GTX1080. I wanna turn them off since my case has no window and comes under the table so it's a waste to have them on. Nvidias internet site says if I download Nvidia Experience, there's a tab for controlling the lightning. Well, Nvidia Experience installed with the driver for the GPU but there's no tab for the lightning... What can I do about that? 5) When in the BIOS or ASUS's software looking at the fan configurations, it say CPU fan is missing / not found - though all fan's in the build are well and spinning? Also, any way to keep the fans at the same speed all the time? I set them all to turbo mode (which was fairly quiet) in the BIOS, saved the settings aand next time booting they were back to pretty loud... I would highly apppreciate it if someone could help me out here, building was fairly easy and it's quick to find solutions online but with this stuff I'm having a bit of trouble... (Just like choosing a CPU / Keyboard.....) Spec list if needed: i7 6800K, Asus X99-A II, 4x8GB Corsair Dominator Platinum RAM, EVGA FTW GeForce GTX1080, Noctua NH-D15s.
  11. Thanks! The Asus ROG PG27AQ is on that list too and it has the most ratings and still a pretty decent score... But that one doesn't have the Swift in it's name but its seems to be the same. I was also looking at the Acer Predator mentioned on that list but between the Asus ROG and the Predator the Asus looks better to me and has better external features from what I read
  12. So I'm done planning my photo- /videoediting and gaming machine but that one needs a monitor. I was planning on a 3x 26-28" 4k set up. Photography stuff is more important than gaming / I'm not too demanding a gamer so 60Hz should be fine I think. Was looking at the Asus ROG Swift PG27AQ, it's got 27", 4k resolution, IPS panel, 4ms response time and G-sync. Would that be a good choice for both editing and gaming purposes? Looking at it's reviews some have complained about backlight bleeding, should I stay away from it because of that even if I could send it back? I've got a Spyder5e to calibrate my future monitor(s). What would you suggest?
  13. The RAM should indeed be allright and I suppose Nvidia SLI with two cards should also be fine BUT on the specsheet it only lists quad and triple SLI support... I hope that's not something to worry about is it?
  14. Asus X99-A II should be fine with it
