  1. I tested this with the monitor connected both to on-board graphics output and to GPU, both would not post when GPU was connected. Yes, the GPU 8-pin was connected as well. Fans were spinning and lights were on the GPU upon booting. What could possibly be causing the MOBO not to be posting even when output is through the MOBO's DVI output simply because my GPU is also connected?
  2. Hi all, this is my first time building and my specs are here: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/z6Jh3F I seem to only be able to get the motherboard (MSI H81M P33) to post to the monitor when my video card (Gigabyte GTX950) is not installed. I can get the MOBO to post perfectly when the GPU is disconnected from the PSU and MOBO. I figured these two parts were compatible based on pc part picker's compatibility filter but it seems there is an issue. Any ideas on how I can get this all to work?
  3. Hey All, Thanks for the advice! After some more troubleshooting it turns out that this happens when my case fans are plugged into the MOBO instead of exclusively to the PSU. PC is booting now and MOBO is posting to the monitor -- how do I mark this thread as solved? Thanks again!
  4. Here's a link to my build: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/z6Jh3F This is my first time building a PC and I've finally gotten all of the essential parts together (still waiting on DVD drive). I tried starting the machine up to get that whole BIOS thing rolling and to make sure everything was working properly -- but it seems I've already run into an issue. 95% of the time when I press the power button on the case I get no response. However, I have gotten a quick flash from the GPU and a 1/8 turn of the fans a couple times and was able to catch it on video here: IMG_3396.MOV. I've checked and reconnected my power switch cable, 18 pin cable, and PSU cord to the outlet multiple times. What am I missing here? Do I have a defective part or is this just me being a noob? I appreciate any help you all could provide me with!
