Matt_98 reacted to Skiiwee29 in Traffic Sahping with Gigabit Fiber
You probably would want to get a Layer 3 switch then that can do traffic shaping and policing. Cisco 3750 comes to mind.

2070 super is no slouch. If it'll get you what you need, i dont see why you shouldn't save your money.

Matt_98 got a reaction from Haro in No Display after driver install
I think that's just the kind of thing I should have expected when buying a leaking graphics card on ebay and installing a custom cooler with no support for it 🤣

and that fixed it, half of the coil whine is also gone now somehow. all that's left is to get better adhesive for the VRM heatsinks as one has just fallen off...

Did'nt get aroung to this but I have reseated the new cooler and It seems it was a mounting pressure issue maybe as I'm now runnig fine, other than the loudest coil whine ove ever heard but considering it probably had water on it at somepoint I can use headphones!

I actually got there myself, turns out there is multiple places to adjust dram voltage in the gigabyte bios, stable at 3000Mhz which is good enough for me 🤣

At all, yes. A lot, no. GPUs are needed for big time folding results, but every little bit helps. Even the chrome browser folding client contributes.

Matt_98 reacted to ARikozuM in Is it worth going enterprise for a download server's main drive?
Mostly for sequential writes and reads.
I would look into WD Gold drives. They're a bit loud (four of them; RAID 5) in my 12-bay NAS, but they perform very well just like the Reds they replaced. Cost-wise, I wouldn't bother too much since you're not really getting much with an enterprise 2.5" or desktop 3.5" if the warranty is the same since you have various methods in place to counter any corruption or data loss.

yes, those are not great. My sandy bridge laptop that cost much less than OP's budget is more powerful than that

you probably wont find a good i7 without a gpu

Matt_98 reacted to Technomancer__ in All in one PC, or two seperate PC's?
i suggest you get a 1700 or 1700x and oc it. i suggest it with the asus prime x370 mobo
and get a very good gpu like a 1080ti or even sli with a very good monitor
8 cores and 16 threads are enough to capture games while playing
and premiere (the editing software you are probably using doesn't scale above 8 cores 16 threads)

Matt_98 reacted to ZestyJalapeno in RX VEGA Prices Confirmed
GTX 1070s are £500 right now, MSRP be damned. If these are 1080 level I'm getting one as much as I can get my hands on before someone creates a new cryptocurrency just for RX Vega.

no because the port on your phone has to supply power to the usb device and can't do that while taking power from the charger
