  1. Ah, okay, I did that and everything is working flawlessly now. One question though, can I delete all the recovery drives in my previous disk? Those 17GB "recovery" drives that are fairly filled up. I want to delete them all and then make just one single, massive 2TB bulk storage
  2. I'm completely new to this, and I can't afford to lose some of those files. Is there any step by step guide for that?
  3. Okay. But the problem is, most people have a 3rd hard drive to copy their files on. I only have an SSD, and my Hard Drive with windows on it. How do I go about it? I've been looking everywhere for a solution, and only cloning and using the third hard drive/storage solution methods show up. Help?
  4. Is there a tutorial on how to do it? And again, I don't have installation media so I don't really know what to do.
  5. Aww okay. But, wait. I don't have a Windows disk or flash drive. How will that work? I'm leaning towards just straight up deleting my steam games. It took me one day to download most of them, and they all probably add up to a hefty ~200GB. Delete my download directory and bam, should be ready. If worse comes to worst, I'll just straight up download windows to SSD and transfer the main programs. Sounds good?
  6. It just has to be a file share. The new server I just made mostly runs on the cloud but the software is good enough for it to show in the Network tab. I set the permissions to be read and write for the PC's and now the software is working perfectly fine. Thanks for your help!
  7. Hey! I just got a new SSD today, a 128GB Patriot Spark SATA III SSD. The thing is, I have 400+ GB taken up on my hard drive, which has a capacity of 2 TB. From what I've seen, cloning transfers all of the data from my HD to my SSD. Is there any method which allows me to transfer the OS alone, without touching my games, media, or documents? I'm hoping there's free software out there that does the job? Thanks in advance!
  8. Alright then, I went for the IronWolf. Is there anything else I should buy? Does this NAS server come preinstalled with the server OS? Oh, and does LTT have any video on setting up a server? Thanks for helping me out so much BTW, I was absolutely clueless about what to do. Really appreciated.
  9. I think I'll go with this: http://www.frys.com/product/9006247?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG Know any good cheap drives I could use RAID 1 on? I'm opting for two of these: http://www.frys.com/product/5478279?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG
  10. There's a Fry's ~45-50 minutes away from me, I'll have to see if I can manage going there.
  11. Do they offer one day delivery? I'll be needing it by tomorrow morning
  12. It is, but there's always the option to run it with your GPU. I think the AMD Control Center had an option for it.
  13. Oh man. Don't you have an option to run the game on your 370?
  14. The Hyper 212 runs pretty good on my end. About 10-15C less than the stock cooler I have.
  15. I would love to know what CPU you have, if I may ask. Do you have a GPU? Do you run Minecraft and other CPU intensive games on that GPU?
  16. *cough* should've invested on a Hyper 212 EVO, not Minecraft *cough* JK, but you should still check that out.
  17. I'm doing this for my dad's insurance agency, in case you need to know. I'm the most tech savvy person he knows, so I'm kind of responsible to set everything up. I don't have a problem staying up all night watching Techquickie videos on servers to understand networks, but it would be best if I have some form of sleep
  18. Yeah. He set up an appointment for the afternoon tomorrow. I need to set everything up by then. That's why he said a small PC would be fine. He said anything with about 20+GB would last us years, but I'd probably go for 200 as my dad likes to work exponentially as hard as others. LOL. I'm assuming he just needs something barebones, as we'll all be just saving basic forms and documents on it. Proably about 100-150 documents a day max. The only machinery running in it are 2-3 PC's. And sorry about the details. Again, instead of wetting my toes, I'm just thrown into a lake. I might know about PC hardware, but I have absolutely no experience with networking and servers.
  19. Hey guys! I was having trouble understanding the general concept of servers. So, I was told by a company representative to make a small server (I was told to buy a cheap PC, because it would do the job) so that I could read and write on it from multiple computers. I asked if I could make a NAS drive, but the representative said such a server wouldn't be needed, as it's kind of slow for what the software needs to do anyway. I'm absolutely new to networking, so can someone help me understand what he intended? The only type of server is I knew of are NAS servers, so I'm thoroughly confused. Any help would be great! Thanks in advance!
  20. Hey guys! Okay, so, after a good year of fiddling with networks (To no avail-- I still don't understand anything), I have come to the realization that my ISP (AT&T) provided me with a 6Mbps download limit. Given that my family is mostly avid internet users and school students, I was almost outraged! Now, I know I'll be having a talk to the local AT&T store, but for the time being, I needed a little insight on what I could do to improve my internet speed. I'll soon upgrade my plan to a 75Mbps download limit, and I'm hoping the internet speed spikes up a bit, because that was just horrendous. I'm really new to this, so I'm hoping someone could give me some insight on the best modems and routers to get that support U-Verse? And, would it be better for me to switch to Comcast altogether? I know I should post this on AT&T forums, but they haven't helped me without confusing me. Again, I am a newbie to networks and stuff, so I would be grateful if someone provided me with an answer which I could easily understand. I'm not concerned with pricing as much, in case that's a question anyone had. Thank you in advance! -Bread
  21. It ran like that for 40 minutes before it went down to 30%. I tried twice and it still did the same thing, so I suppose it's solved.
  22. Back to the disk issue, I'll keep my PC on for about an hour and see if anything weird happens.
  23. Okay, I'm an idiot. Apparently the hard drive was big and pushed the 24 pin cable so that it would be pulled away and caused random shut off. I'll still keep an eye out and see if it happens again, but now that I moved the cable and wiggled the connector while it was on the motherboard, it seems to be fine *facepalm*
  24. It simply shuts off like when you force a shut down. Just now I tried moving the 24 pin connector and it does the same thing every time I move it just slightly. Issue detected, but how do I fix it, and how do I know the MOBO isn't broken?
  25. Yeah but the issue is that my PC (might be broken RAM or MOBO-- or even the Disk Usage) shuts off after about 10 minutes-20 minutes. It either shuts off or goes on standby so I don't have any way to make sure the issue isn't the windows files
