  1. Really? You think so? I've heard that little amp really only pushes like 10 to 15 Watts max. You don't think that would make the speakers super quiet or something?
  2. So I've got these old stereo speakers just sitting in a corner of the spare bedroom. I thought it would be cool if I could hook them up to my PC. I thought about buying this amp to connect it to the PC... https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ULRFQ1A/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?smid=A1O3FCDOOYHNQU&psc=1 The amp specs say "Output power: 20W x 2 RMS" but the tag on the back of the speakers say 100W, 6 Ohms. I know that's a big difference but I don't need these things to bump at full power. Just play at a normal volume. I don't know. Is this a bad idea? Has anyone here ever done this? Is Windows 10 going to refuse to play the audio unless I keep the amp turned on all the time? Is this amp just going to be too small to push these speakers. Is there anything else I should know? ^Wow. Look at that dust. Sorry.
  3. Oh, I fixed the motherboard standoff. This I/O shield sucks ass. It's the Asus motherboard with these little prongs sticking out that apply pressure. The MSI board that I bought doesn't have those. I manged to keep bending prongs till I got everything lined up. I also replaced that standoff because I thought it might be threaded crooked or something. But whatever, I got that part fixed. Now, I'm just worried about the thermal paste and the chip.
  4. To build two computers. One is for me, the other is for my parents.
  5. OK, here's a question.... I bought enough stuff to build two computers. I bought two i5s. So if I take that i5 out, how can I store it until the thermal paste kit gets here? I mean, I don't want to put it back in the box with thermal paste on it. Right?
  6. What does that mean? What do you mean that you don't need to change the thermal paste every time?
  7. That's great. Does anyone want to weigh in with something constructive? It's not like I'm not on edge or anything. So everyone thinks I'm absolutely going to have to order some thermal paste replacement kit or something?
  8. I'm doing my first build and it's not going well. First my motherboard didn't exactly line up with one standoff. So there's only one screw holding the top of my motherboard in. It seems pretty secure with the other five screws so I don't know if leaving that one empty matters. It's the standoff directly behind the top of the I/O shield. But here's where I really screwed up. I was putting on the stock cooler and I got a wire caught under the heatsink. I had to pull the fan back off the chip to get the wire out. I don't think I pulled it all the way off, maybe I did. I guess I did. So now I'm thinking my thermal paste is f***ed up with air holes or whatever. I don't know if it's not going to matter or if I have to start over. It's not like I have thermal paste laying around. This sucks.
  9. Yep, the most popular wifi adapter that Newegg sells doesn't work in Windows 10, with a TP Link Rep even telling someone flat out that it won't work in Windows 10. Once you start scrolling through the 1 and 2 star reviews for these adapters then you'll start seeing just how many seem to hate Windows 10.
  10. Tell the truth, did you buy a computer at Best Buy that somebody had returned?
  11. I wouldn't risk my house for a $60 component. You can easily get a new gold rated 400w PSU for $60 or less. Maybe the chances of it catching fire are extremely low. But how much is your piece of mind worth?
  12. Dude, at this point I'm open to anything. As long as you've personal owned it and used it.
