belfouf got a reaction from _Hustler_One_ in Delidded i7-8700K [Update]
my PC was going unstable sometimes because of the CPU temperature, so I just delided my 6700K this weekend, OC @4,5Ghz for 1.255v. It was throttling up to 90°C for a few millisecond and had an average 75°C in game
now without touching any settings it's around 45°C iddle and 55°C in game.
I used liquidmetal on the die and gelid between the CPU and cooler (Lepa AquaChanger 240)
I'm very glad. Anyway, I'm quite impressed by the temps you've got, nice cooling !

belfouf reacted to Droidbot in X99 PCIE Lanes - 6800k or 6850k
A) wait for ryzen, better value.
B) x16/x8 for GPUs. PCI-E x4 3.0 is spared, use it on either NVMe or TB3. Extra 8 PCI-E 2.0 lanes from the chipset are available as well. Don't quote me on this, the spec is not well defined.

In all honesty that PSU is sketchy.

I'm watching Ebay for a vintage GULF pin to mount over the LED, so it's illuminated from behind. Here is some of the progress photos of SLI bridge mod over the weekend. Replace green nvidia logo with transparent orange acrylic window,

with the right tool there is nearly zero risk

belfouf reacted to Master Disaster in i7 6700k OC advice
Its the effective clock speed the Cache bus is running at. Back in the Haswell days overclocking the cache had some effect but since Skylake its been repeatedly shown that OCing cache does nothing to improve performance and only generates additional heat.
Just allow your board to control the Uncore Ratio.

belfouf got a reaction from Sabbir Hassan in Do I have to reinstall windows changing to intel to AMD or vise versa
OP, I changed from AMD to Intel a few months ago, and using sysprep i didn't loose ANYTHING
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/135077-windows-7-installation-transfer-new-computer.html
really easy to follow. No driver issues since it will install new ones

belfouf reacted to pwn_intended in 1440P CPU?
My i7 3770 non-k is perfectly happy with 1440p.
CPU becomes more of a bottleneck with higher FPS, and not as much with higher resolution.

Let's all take some time to contemplate this cute kitten and feel it's calming effects, remember to keep debates civil.

belfouf got a reaction from NoobGamer69 in 20% gpu usage
Kabylake is just a more expensive Skylake overcloked. We now know it. Same speed = +3% efficience... WoW.....
I would advise to wait for Zen since AMD Won vs Nvidia with DX12 and Also vs Intel with Win10. I can develop on that if you want, I don't mean won like more powerful, but won like "new software architectures benefit AMD and penalize Intel/Nvidia"

why ? do you have a 144hz screen ?
you can only display 60fps anyway .....

belfouf reacted to Garett1 in 980ti or 1080
1080. Some games don't support SLI. Two graphics cards uses more energy, and produces more heat. 1080 will be better.

belfouf got a reaction from Trav_X in 1080p@144hz VS 1440p@60hz(strawpoll)
I'm doing 1440p with DSR @144hz (1080p screen) and I LOVE IT

belfouf reacted to SmashinMachine in SSD M.2 not recognized
No it is not similar on other Mobos. Sata m2 and Pcie m2 run both over PCH in z170. It doesn't matter.
This is Asus Bios. It is different.
This m.2 mode setting is mostly important @x99 Chipset. Because pcie m2 run over CPU with x4 gen3 and sata m2 run over pch with x2 gen2
