OP ThinkPad's are known for being the best of the best when it comes to build quality, you can take them to hell and back and they would still work.

This should not be any surprise, but the P50 would wreck any normal laptop in build quality, it us insanely well put together and it is on the same level of build quality as the T series meaning it is better build than other business class laptops. For those who didn't know, the T series is often seen as the best build business class laptop ever. Since this is a business laptop and not a cheap one, then you will be able to find parts for it the next 5 years at least. Also Lenovo will come out to you and fix your laptop within 24 hours, because it is a business laptop, that is at least how their warranty is in EU.

The M1000M is about a 950m in gaming, so not that good. Other than that the P50 wins, so what do you value more build quality or gaming performance. If you are going to do 3D work then the quadro wrecks a 960m, because most 3D programs only have support for quadro and firepro, meaning your GTX would just sit their doing nothing.
Unless you treat it like shit and drop it often then the P50 should without any problem last you 4-5 years, even if you treat it badly it should last you 4-5 years, god only knows what I have done to my ThinkPad and it works fine, just getting a bit too old for what I do.

Very specific programs. @ZenSra you can find programs that REQUIRE Quadros online, but most like Inventor work completely fine with GTX cards.

Dell Outlet. Get the best shit there. The equivalent of the P50 on Dell is Precision 7510.

Ahem, also people might shoot me, but Alienware laptops on sales at Dell Outlet are pretty nice. LOL.

It really depends on your work and what you'll be doing with this laptop. Sit it at a desk and move it once in a while. Dell is fine. If you're like me and your laptops go in the suitcase and come traveling a few times a week, then nah, get Business Laptops. Also, if your work is of critical importance and time sensitive, business laptop. You have no idea how many times Lenovo, Dell, HP's premium 24 hour onsite repair has saved my ass.

Apologies for the triple post here too, but uh... I own the laptop in question. The 7559, so if you've any questions about the rig in particular, I can answer either here or in PM.

In all fairness though, Linus's review of it is pretty much spot on. "They got more things right this time around and it makes the purchase worthwhile and justified."

    ah okay
I think there is a 50-60% jump between the 950m and 960m, the i5 vs i7 can be a lot in some programs, but also zero in other programs. Yes the 7559 wins, but take care of it, it is not build that well.

Run games at 1080p, upscale programs by 200% - that solves most of it (though older games won't be that easy to run)

since you won't game at 4k with a 960m anyway, it really doesn't matter. Power consumptions will be different, but there should be plenty of revies stating battery lfe under various conditions. Sepc wise the Asus looks more promising, but if it were up to me, things like, aesthetics, noise and weigth count alot.

For that price - UX501VW is the best option. Get that. The Samsung SM951 in the UX501 is MUCH faster (talking double) than the one in the XPS 15 base

4GB RAM is not going to be enough, buy another 4GB for a total of 8GB. As for the graphics card a GTX 750 Ti is going to serve you very well on that resolution, you could even do high settings with it.

960M doesn't affect battery life - it's disabled during 2D work. I'd say get the i5 + 960M model - it's double the CPU power and triple the GPU power

Well my friend, it looks like we both have picked the wrong machine. As other users on this thread have stated, the new Razer Blade Stealth is a waste. So I guess we should both be looking for other portable ultrabooks.

your i5 should be fine up to a gtx 1060/rx 480 before it starts to bottleneck, should last you 2-3 years more. the gtx 750ti barely releases heat, there's even a passively cooled model made by palit.

A 750 ti doesn't necessarily generate a lot of heat at idle unless you're going for overclocking. And as for CPU i think you should be solid for 3 years or more cause i know a guy who is still rocking you're same CPU and playing the newest games(at low graphics) besides Intel may have released there new amazing CPU but remember not everyone will be able to afford it. For example i'm playing games on as Asus A550LD laptop and it's still working for me

Yeah the previous method mentioned by the other 2 are the best solution for upgrading your desktop without completely remodeling it. Besides if you really need to play a graphic smashing game, you're blade should do the trick.

As said above, 4gb ram isn't going to serve well. Look into getting another 4gb stick. Also, look into getting a 750ti/rx 460 for that resolution.
