Yeah if you're slinging your laptop around, especially if you move it right after a gaming session while tings are still hot, its possible the liquid metal can escape and destroy your computer.  If everything around it is conformal coated there is less chance of it going bad but still not ideal.

AMD is now set to release their mobile line of Ryzen processor!
They take the form of a single silicon chip offering:
    four Zen cores,
up to 10 Vega compute units,
a unified power delivery system all in under 15W,
AMD is touting +200% CPU performance and +128% GPU performance over its previous generation of laptop processors.
To start, AMD is launching a pair of 15W processors for the laptop market:
    the Ryzen 7 2700U
    and the Ryzen 5 2500U.
AMD is aiming for the same range of thin and light notebooks that are currently almost entirely Intel-powered, while also using the Vega graphics architecture as a significant selling point in gaming and enthusiast workload acceleration
HP, Lenovo and Acer are releasing laptops based on the Ryzen Mobile hardware today (or soon)

AMD third quarter earnings beat expectations and put the company’s ledgers back in the black in their GAAP earnings.
    For the quarter, AMD:
had revenues of $1.64 billion, compared to $1.31 billion a year ago, which is a gain of just over 25%.
Operating income was $126 million, compared to a $293 million loss a year ago,
and net income was $71 million, compared to a net loss of $406 million a year ago.
This resulted in earnings per share of $0.07, compared to a loss per share of $0.50 in Q3 2016.
Average Sale Price of GPUs was up significantly, thanks in large part to the proliferation of cryptocurrency
This quarter was especially strong in the Enterprise, Embedded, and Semi-Custom segment console makers preparing for the holiday sales and the lead-up to the Xbox One X
AMD's earnings results were beyond expectation and yet the stock price declined severely

UK Govt. Responds To Loot Box Petition

    Source 2: https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/201300

Citizens in the UK have become increasingly wary of Loot Boxes in games, and 15,000 of them have signed a petition for the government to assess whether Loot Boxes should be subject to standard gambling laws.
Where the facility exists for players of video games to purchase a key to unlock a bundle containing an unknown quantity and value of in-game items as a prize, and where there are readily accessible opportunities to cash in or exchange those awarded in-game items for money or money’s worth, then these elements of the game are likely to be considered licensable gambling activities.
In contrast, where prizes are restricted for use solely within the game, such in-game features would not be licensable gambling.
Still, the government will enforce advertising laws:
businesses [may] not subject anyone to misleading or aggressive marketing practices, or, for example, direct exhortation to buy products, such as games content, including in-game purchases such as loot boxes.
The government is committed to ensuring that consumers are properly protected and that children’s vulnerability and inexperience is not exploited by aggressive commercial practices.
They may also adjust the Rating that they apply to games with Loot Boxes and similar quasi-gambling mechanics:
The PEGI video game ratings criteria currently make provision for games depicting simulations of traditional gambling, and such games would generally attract a minimum PEGI rating of 12.
The VSC Rating Board is discussing these issues with the PEGI Council and its Experts Group to determine whether any changes to the PEGI criteria need to be made.
At 100,000 signatures, this petition will be considered for debate in Parliament

    Source 2: https://www.tweaktown.com/news/59654/intel-launches-next-gen-optane-ssd-900p/index.html

Intel has launched their first retail 3D XPoint based SSD - the Intel Optane SSD 900P Series.
Unlike Optane Memory, which is a cache SSD, the Intel Optane 900P Series are full blown SSDs
The 900P series will be offered in two capacities and two form factors:
    U.2 - 280GB
    Add-In-Card at both 280GB and 480GB
Unlike flash based SSDs, Optane SSDs don't rely on capacity for higher performance:
The 280GB 900P is just as fast as the 480GB one.
In a workstation environment, Optane SSDs deliver up to 4X the performance of the fastest flash-based NVMe SSDs.
Another huge advantage Optane 900P SSDs have over their flash-based consumer counterparts is endurance.
Consumer flash-based SSDs get about one drive-write per day of endurance.
The 900P Series is rated for 10 drive-writes per day of endurance.
You will pay roughly 4X more per gigabyte of storage for Optane, but you will get up to 4X the performance and 10X the endurance available from consumer flash-based SSDs

The new service, called Amazon Key, incorporates a smart lock fitted to a customer’s door, as well as a new Amazon security camera to record the movements of the delivery person.
Only Amazon drivers can do this- not FEDEX or DHL
The driver will unlock the door, place the package inside, close the door, and lock it.- all  on camera
The service is available exclusively to Amazon Prime members, and starts at US$250.
The In-Home Kit includes an Amazon Cloud Cam and one of several smart locks made by Yale and Kwikset.
Amazon Key will be available in 37 U.S. cities from Nov. 8.
Amazon will also offer free installation of the kits.
The Cloud Cam, will additionally be sold as a standalone device for US$120
Amazon Key also opens the door to future integration with in-home service providers, such as cleaners and pet sitters, in the coming months.
Brands already signed on to enter dwellings via Amazon Key include
    Merry Maids
    animal caregiver Rover.com.
The company intends to give homeowners the ability to let third parties enter, conduct their business, and depart with the house fastened up securely. While the work is taking place, the customer can track and talk to the hired hands using Amazon’s Cloud Cam.
Friends and family will also be permitted into people’s homes.
Using Amazon’s Key app, a pre-authorized person can be allowed in while the owner retains control over the frequency of entrances and the lengths of their stay.

PS Jeff Bezos became the richest man in the world today as amazon’s stock price surged 13% to a record high of over $1,100. Bezos owns ~81 million shares and is now worth ~90B

Ubda reacted to Quad Damage in Windows 10 Game Mode Tested
Game mode reserves 3/4 of your CPU for the game when it's the foreground application, and moves all background processes to the remaining 1/4.
If you have nothing else running on the PC like your test setup, you're basically throwing away 25% of your CPU performance, which is why you would see a reduction in performance.
If, however, you normally have media players, voip clients, web browsers and other applications open in the background when you're gaming, restricting them to using 1/4 of the CPU at most while the game is the foreground application can help improve performance.
Even if those background tasks do not total 1/4 of your CPU, removing any possibility of thread contention can help with consistency even if the average may drop a little.

Game Mode is especially good for games which do not fully utilize your CPU though.
If you were to play a game like Crysis - which you showed in your video but apparently did not test - that would show improvements on the quad-core CPUs when using Game Mode because the game only uses two main threads, and giving them exclusive access to a CPU core each ensures that no background processes can eat into your precious single-core performance.

It's not only old games which are affected by this.
Forza Horizon 3 is one of the games Microsoft uses as an example because it's so poorly optimized and the majority of the game's workload runs on a single thread.
Enabling Game Mode guarantees that main thread has exclusive access to a CPU core all to itself, instead of potentially being shared with background processes.

If you're trying to play a game like Deus Ex Mankind Divided - a game which requires more CPU power than a quad-core can provide - enabling Game Mode is effectively removing a core from an already CPU-starved game.
Unless, of course, your background processes total more than 1/4 of your CPU's capabilities, in which case Game Mode will limit their impact on the game's performance.

Since many games are only built to utilize 4 cores or up to 8 threads, I've found Game Mode to be quite useful on higher core-count CPUs like AMD's Ryzen because it will completely reserve 9 threads for the game on an R5 or 12 on an R7.
Even if you don't have much else open, there's still some CPU activity from system processes, and Game Mode ensures it has no effect on the game with these CPUs.

Hackintosh: as mentioned, they made that video well before the rule on the forum came into affect How to unlock any windows computer: it's not really hacking when it's that easy, is it?  It's like telling someone how to pull out a HDD that was "locked down" using windows permissions but not encrypted and read it using Linux This video: as mentioned, it's not illegal to do, and it's not the same as hackintosh.

I agree - as I've said a couple times in this thread, if the mods think it's against CoC then they should remove the thread. It's not fair to give our posts preferential treatment.

And as I said on the previous page, that doesn't necessarily mean that we won't make a video about something - just that it shouldn't be posted here if it's against CoC.

There's another difference between this and hackintosh imo (well, based on something that was already mentioned).

Hackintosh is disallowed because it goes against Apple's ToS, even though it's not illegal.  You might say that removing these stickers is the same, but I disagree.  I'm no legal expert, but I see it like this: Apple is free to choose what hardware they want their software to run on since that doesn't conflict with any other laws.  These stickers however are a different story.  Since it's illegal for the companies to behave in the way they do, their ToS's are null and void, so it's not a problem.
