  1. I do not have any other machines or cables that I could swap between sadly, I'm just hoping it is a software error or something, otherwise I will just have to send it to a repair shop and see what they say. Thank you for the input though
  2. So I used to use my laptop as an alarm clock, and one morning as the alarm app started ringing the pc froze and I had no other chance than to force shutdown by holding the power button. But when I tried restarting it back up it failed to boot into windows and when I opened up my bios the hard drive was shown as "not present" I opened up the back and I can hear the hard disk spinning up on starting and can also hear the arm moving around so I know it's not dead and I tried reconnecting the cables, but what is the problem? There are no weird noises from the hdd it sounds just like it used to. Laptop: Toshiba satellite M50D-A-10X Hard drive: Seagate mobile hdd 1tb st1000lm035 (aftermarket, bought a year ago as the old one broke by the laptop falling off a coffee table)
  3. Never install / use -avg -win defender -mc caffe Its all just bloatware imo. Even free avast is better. Free malwarebytes are good! I gotta assume its the antivirus program doing all this weird stuff.. Good luck!
  4. One sunny afternoon my laptop decided to fall off the table. Hard drive broke. Mishap no.1 part 1 Trying to open the hard drive to fix something. after a while of messing with it i gave up. Mishap no.1 part 2 I decided to take out the magnetic disks out of it, and dissasemble a perfectly working hard drive Why ? Well i didnt want to download all the programs again... so i just figured to take out the discs from the working one and put the old discs in.. It didnt end well... Rip 2 hard drives..... Mishap no 2. A few months later i decide to order a new hard drive.... I know very little about hard drives at that point and accidently order a 3.5 one.. i still go and try plugging it in.. wondering why it doesnt work... Mishap no.3 After returning the 3.5 one and replacing it with a 2.5 one I try installing it. Knowing little about electronics i dont give a f'''k about static electricity i just go in it like i dont give a damn.. I accidently short a bunch of pins many times, once or twice the screen would go all humming and blinking.... wow i was so dumb... But it all ended up well... Hey im even typing this on the same laptop
  5. Im a "Better safe than sorry" kind of person. So i think you should either just in case, install the paste yourself or have it rma'd if it applicable. That is my opinion atleast. Even if no damage is possible. Why not ? You dont have anything to lose. hell you even have the paste.
  6. Oh. im not sure. skimped over the fact you had win 7. Just in case ill try and see if i can find a win7 one. Alright try this one. Not sure it is as easy as the win10 one but its worth a shot. DOWNLOAD
  7. DOWNLOAD Open the program plug your usb in Follow the instructions. Problems ? Just ask here. No problem ? Just follow the instructions posted earlier.
  8. Do you want to wipe it all ? if so, 1. get a bootable windows install on a stick or other portable media. 2.Shut your pc off and select in your bios to boot first from that media,. like a USB stick. 3.In the install where it asks you to select a drive, first format it. After formatting it just install it normally and follow the procedure. it is pretty straight forward from there. Dont want to wipe it all ? If so just follow every step above just ignore the formatting part. You will get a fresh install with a clean background and no programs installed. You will keep other stuff that isnt in any of the windows files. Like in a seperate folder on the hard drive. Good luck!
  9. Yes it should 'see' that you have the same components and just skip over the activation part. Also if it for some reason doesnt you can just skip it and activate it once you get the key. It will work with no problem. its just like a trial thing. You can get cheap windows keys from like some sites for 20$ Altho it is still in a debate whether it is legal or not...
  10. Dont get an 1060 than. Not worth it. Rather get an 1070. Yes it will probably bottle neck your cpu, but you can upgrade the rest in the future and keep the card. But then when i think about it. the 1070 might become obsolete by than.... get a 1080 instead...
  11. If i were you i would waif tor an year or two... the specs are still good even for pretty modern games.. If you really want to upgrade get an i5 6500 or an i5 6600k. and a gtx 1060-1070 But than you need a new mobo and ram.. All depends if you want to. and if you have enough money.
  12. The first click is you pressing the button and the second is just the releasing of the button. No ? Just try it with your pc unplugged.
  13. I dubt it is software related. Is it always blurry. even in the BIOS or the desktop ? Did you try connecting it to a 2nd pc ? If it is still blurry it must be the screen. Good luck
  14. It can still mean that the PSU is failing. Just the fact that it is working under no load doesnt mean it will work under full load. or even under moderate load. tl:dr. Dont write off the PSU from the list just yet.
  15. Glad i could help Have a nice day and good luck with your PC!
