kuhchuk got a reaction from Fasauceome in Cannot Find Asus Driver Page For My Motherboard
So I did some more digging, and found an available driver source from Asus themselves.  Could be my cynical take, but it appears they're trying to force users to download the MyASUS app from the microsoft store.

Gonna download what I need and uninstall.

Make sure you have the driver for the network card installed.  Check the mobo manufacturer's website.

Thought this was gonna be a thread where someone was asking for advice on which 7.1 set to get, and I was going to advise against it.  Didn't realize who posted the thread till I got here.

    Nice write-up.

Got perfect draws in this match of hearthstone.  Ended up hitting that lightspawn with 2x Power Word: Shield, followed by 2x Divine spirit.
    God, I love lightspawn <3

The HD5x8 series needs a substantial amplifier to reach their full potential. I recommend a Schiit stack, if not a Lyr. The large impedance spike in the bass makes it so they have too many ohmagges to be properly driven by onboard audio. You'll likely get better bass, better highs, better mids, better soundstage, better imaging, better timbre, better musicality, better smoothness, better detail, better punch, better impact, better fluidity, better instrument separation, better depth, better blackness between the notes, better refinement, better crispness, better immersion, and better reproduction. You'll amazingly be able to hear things that you weren't able to hear before, it'll be like the musicians are in the fucking room with you.

Even better, the more money you spend, the better it gets because money and performance follow a direct, 1-to-1 relationship.

I'll second the headphones.  If not that, you can get a decent-ish 2.1 setup in a box for like $30 from Cyber Acoustics, Creative Labs, Logitech, etc.

If you want some advice on headphones, let me know what your budget is and I'll see what I can come up with.

Yeah, pretty sure he meant he didn't want a headset or anything.  Not sure if the modmic would work well if you jury rigged it to a desk.

If not, maybe something like a Blue Snowball or a Blue Snowflake?  I'm not too familiar with desktop mics, but if you're not planning on doing any recording or anything, those should at least be passable.

Stay away from the $8 Audio Technica mic.  It's absolute garbage.\

If you also need a decent webcam, the mics that are built into most logitech webcams aren't half bad.

I don't even play a whole lot of AAA games.  I just play a lot of different games, and I usually don't take the time to uninstall them.

What I did is installed windows on my 250gb ssd and then set steam to install my games to a 2tb drive by default.  If there's a game in particular that I want on my ssd, I just change the install directory before steam starts downloading the game.

With about 300gb worth of games on my computer, I'd say that was a good call.  It's also nice because if/when you decide to format your OS drive, you don't have to wait for steam to download all your games again.

My friend also had his 3258 clocked at 4.4 and when he switched to the 4690k, he more than DOUBLED his frame rate in the scenes that were causing him to struggle before.

The M8 is still pretty damned high end.  It should still be a pretty decent phone in two years' time.

I know I'm late to the party, but I've got a pair of HE-400 and an O2/ODAC.  Trust me, the O2 can deliver WAAAY more power than you need.  I know that the HE-400's are about 5db/mw more sensitive than the 500's, but I've NEVER even come close to hitting the high gain switch, except out of curiosity and with the headphones removed from my person.

Also, the O2 measures as good or better than the majority of the top-tier amps out there.  If you think the distortion of a tube amp might be your thing, then go ahead, but don't believe for a second that you're missing anything by going with an O2.

I was thinking the same thing.  You can get some seriously awesome headphones for that much money (some of the lower end Stax stuff, HiFiMan planars, and some Audeze products if you don't mind buying used).

However, I'd say go for a pair of headphones in the ~$100-$200 range and spend the rest on a speaker system.  The law of diminishing returns really does kick in pretty hard past that point, and there are some AMAZING headphones in that price range these days.  Plus, that'll leave you about 6 or 7 hundred to spend on speakers, which will also take you pretty far.
