No, however, in TrueNAS, you can create additional VDevs, however those VDevs will work indipendantly when it comes to redundancy.

So for example, if we have 15 drives.

We can have those drives in 3x5 drive VDev Raid Z1s (Raid 5), meaning 1 drive failure PER group. But if 2 drives were to die in a single Raid Z1, that would lose data. It's not a good solution, but is basically the only solution if you want to upgrade later without doing a migration to another set of drives as a middle man.

The VDevs will look to the end user as a single drive which is mountable, but to ZFS it will be 3 seperate raids added together.

I think the best option for you would be to run a hypervisor like Proxmox or Unraid, then pass through devices for specific things. So for example, passing the drives to a Truenas scale VM, then the GPUs to say a Windows VM to run blender, connecting it back to the Truenas scale VM for larger storage access, via Samba.

2 drives can only be put into a raid 0 or 1, there is no other possible configurations you can have with too few drives.

In terms of encryption, if you were to use the Truenas Scale VM, it can create encryption keys for those drives, but it would also mean that moving the drives at any point would be incredibly difficult, possibly using a motherboard bios encryption could work, but that's up to you.

Yes, if the Truenas VM has a dedicated IP, you can use it via samba to create a recovery drive.

AdamBGames got a reaction from StDragon in I've never heard a HDD sound like this, is this right?
Thats normal, thats the sound of the read head moving, you have a 16 TB drive, thats a lot of platters it has to scrub through. Enterprise usually dont care about noise as this will be in a data centre.

I am thrilled to hear this.  I avoid wearing t-shirts in general because of lack of length.

I will also make the point to save your money on the cooler, it's an i3, it won't pump out much in the way of heat, and see if you can use that $33 to get a secondary hard drive or something for more storage.

Oh and also, your case is huge and way more than you need, I suggest getting a cheaper one and one that is MATX. Full Towers are MASSIVE

Since you're buying an i3, something like a B760 (I say 760 instead of 660 as it will give you some more features and probably longer compatibility) will be fine. As it cannot be overclocked.

Motherboards at that low end really don't matter much outside of getting the IO you need, make sure it has enough USB ports, SATA ports, VRM cooling, and WIFI if you need it. Something like the
Asus PRIME B760M-K D4 should do you just fine if you dont need wifi or
MSI PRO B760M-A WIFI DDR4 if you do.

In terms of power supply you have an i3, so you would only need the first 8 pin power anyway, but if you do want to future proof a little, something like the Corsair RM750e 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply should last you a significant amount of time.

Hi, so I posted this on Twitter, but I also wanted to ask here as I don't know which might get a response.

I am a large guy, (6ft 3, heavy set) and I just applied for a 5xl testing shirt. I appreciate greatly the inclusion of larger people with merch as this is not a common thing. So off the bat, thank you to the Merch team.

My question is, will LL (Large Long) sizes ever be supported? I have friends who are also fans of the channel who are even taller than I am, and we are talking almost 7ft here who, like myself have to buy larger clothes which end up being baggy to wear because we need the clothing length.

I myself can happily wear a 3LL sized shirt because while I am large, I can fit in a 3xl tshirt, my problem is the length is just no where near what I would need.

I got confirmation on Twitter that LL sizes are in the works and will be released in the future, I do appreciate the inclusion that LTT is putting forward.

I would suggest AGAINST using a different modular cable from another power supply. Using a splitter should be fine for a single additional drive, since the tolorences for current should be fine for 1 more drive, so I would suggest getting the splitter.

Isn't the iGPU in the APUs a separate module/chiplet? Wouldn't they test that silicon before they bothered to stick it on the interposer?

I mean, I guess it could be an issue in the assembly process, but if AMD has enough of bad chips that they're engineering a board to sell them on, I think they have other problems, IMO.

No issues will arise because that's not what a defective chip means. It's not the wild west and they will turn off the defective portions. It's what all of Intels lineup is. An i5 is a defective i7 which is now a i9 and so on. But now since we are seeing chiplet designs yields are high enough that they don't need to do this anymore.

I am going to make a suggestion, DONT GET THE 11900k, it's limited to 8 cores and the siglethreaded performance is worse than that of the 5000 series on AMD, you're actually better off getting something like a 10850k, it will be much better for your money. The case is nice but the spacing for push pull, which is what I assume you mean by 6 fans on a 360 Rad, might be a tight fit, you may have to put one set of fans on the inside and one set on the outside to fit properly

My main advice honestly would be to just go for a full new system, keep the 660 since GPUs are hard to get right now, but the rest is just not up to par now. The Phenom was pretty weak even when it came out. Plus 6GB of RAM is just not going to cut it now.
If you want advice on a new system, I or many other members of this forum are willing to help you.

Its possible the 1TB drive is just not installed properly, or has been unplugged unexpected. I say this since, as far as I and windows can see, you dont have a 1tb drive

From the looks of it, you dont have a 1TB drive, according to your disk management you are only using 1 drive and that totals 223.57GB, so I can only assume this is a 240GB SSD you have. The recovery partition is usually made by an OEM, so is this a used drive?

Honestly for a 660, any intel chip from the 2000 series onwards will do fine. Seems like a waste to go any newer than 3rd or 4th gen with that kind of system.

But as Claire above said, at this point even a cheaper new intel system will far exceed what that system is providing.

This system looks fine, in terms of GPUs, it's unknown, TSMC which creates the SOCs for NVidia and AMD have said they have been set back to 2022, though Intel are looking to put out their first graphics card this year and since they have their own FAB locations, its possible they might have ones available, but that could have compatability issues like the integrated graphics on their existing CPUs

So, because RAM is DDR, which means Double Data rate, sometimes it will come up as half that at 1500, since 1500x2 is 3000. When it says 1067, that leads me to believe that your ram is running at the stock 2133Mhz, what you need to do is go into the BIOS and either enable XMP or manually set the ram speed to 3000Mhz

Not really, the card can just about handle 1080p 60 gaming WITHOUT streaming. Plus 2GB of VRAM is becoming very obsolete very fast so it really depends what games you will be playing. i doubt anything super modern will work but indie games will probably be fine.
